If we're talking straight live-action, no animated sequences...my favourite Live Action Disney film is The Parent Trap, the original, although I was pleasantly surprised by the remake.

Yeah, I was talking about straight live-action. Seems like the bulk of Disney's live-action catalogue is often forgettable at times, simply because they're good films, but not very memorable. I doubt I could pick out 10 people from the street and all of them will have heard of "The North Avenue Irregulars" or "The Misadventures of Merlin Jones".

There's no Disney flim that I hate but there's alot that I haven't seen in ages (One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, Lady and The Tramp) and others I never seen(The Emperor's New Groove, Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective) Looks like I have to make a trip to my local video store.

To those that keep saying this has already been discussed, that's true but this question should be brought up again every once in a long while because people's opinions change, and new people who may not have thought to post about it before get a convenient chance to do so.

My favorite animated Disney features are, in the order of my liking them:
1.Cinderella
2.The Little Mermaid
3.Sleeping Beauty
4.Fantasia

As for live-action, I have very few of those films that I'm in to:
1.Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
2.Bedknobs and Broomsticks

I have yet to see The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but I have a feeling I would really like that.

One thing keeping mind Chicken Little since i haven't seen it yet could factor into the equation at a later date, and Not Knowing Disney owns 4 of the Muppet Films.

1. Peter Pan one of my all time favorite classics, if not my favorite
2. The Lion King what an awesome movie released just after Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast IIRC
3. Beauty and the Beast another one of Disney's Classics
4. Snow White can't forget the Classic that started Disney to what it is now
5. Cinderalla one of my all time favorites, or maybe it just was Bibidi-Badabi-Boo
6. The Rescuers even though IIRC i first saw Them Down Under then this film. Also I liked the Villian in it Madame Medusa.

Computer

1. Toy Story Probably my all time favorite Computer Animated Movie by any company besides Shrek and Shrek 2. Also loved how they used an Action Figure in it.
2. The Incredibles My favorite Superhero Animated movie
3. Finding Nemo
4. Monster's Inc.
5. A Bug's Life what a good movie about Flik the ant and the Circus Bugs taking down Hopper and his crew

Live- Action

1. Old Yeller yes this Classic is by far my most favorite Disney Film at least in the ending, not knowing about Rabies at that time.
2. The Parent Trap Lohan one. Where Lohan became the star that she is today also i just like the plot.
3. Mary Poppins probably my favorite Disney Musical of all time.
4. Benji the Hunted. Where i learned to like Cougars, Bears and Wolves more.
5. Pirates of the Caribbean i thought Depp and Bloom were good at performing thier respective roles.
6. The Muppet Movie, where we learned where the Muppets were before they became today, also liked Doc Hopper as the villian.

Without a doubt "The Little Mermaid".

I feel special because "The Little Mermaid" was the animated feature in 1989 which is the year of my birth and my favourite Disney Classic too.

(I find A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo to be hugely overrated.)

My favourite is The Lion King. It's quite hard for me to arrange a list of top 10 Disney animated movies, because they keep switching places and it all depends on which mood I'm in (except for The Lion King which is always number one in that list). In any case the Golden Era classics (Snow White etc.) are good and so are Disney Renaissance era movies. I like The Lion King for several reasons:

The animation is superb. From the spectacular opening to the wonderful final scene, the animation never loses its point and shows us just how well artists can tell the story by using animation. Computer animation is used quite nicely, like during the stampede scene, and the characters look wonderful. One of the outstanding scenes is when the ghost of Mufasa talks to Simba. The animation both in the original version and the revised version are good during this scene.

The music is wonderful. From the songs by Elton John and Tim Rice to the haunting score by Hans Zimmer the movie never lets down in its musical aspects. "Circle of Life", "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", "Be Prepared", "Hakuna Matata" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" are all wonderful songs which make the plot go further and give characters some needed character development, and each song is catchy and has inspiring lyrics. The score is just as good as the songs, creating many memorable themes and features a wonderful mix of orchestra, synthesizers and choral work which is both classical and also includes the awesome work by Lebo M and his African choir. You just have to listen to the score in scenes such as the stampede, Mufasa's ghost talking to Simba and Simba finally taking his rightful place as the king of Pride Rock to appreciate the work of Zimmer and how he tells us the story via music using various themes to represent different characters and moods. The songs and score work well together and neither one feels out of place and instead make the story even more emotional.

The story, taking quite a few bits from such classics as Hamlet, is surprisingly dark for a Disney movie even though it has its funny bits. It has quite many layers and subplots going on, and the story has some nice twists too. The protagonists are interesting, and the emotional conflict in Simba is developed surprisingly well. The stampede and the death of Mufasa is one of the most powerful scenes ever in Disney movies, and the contrast between life and death is quite strong thematic element in the movie. Scar is one of the most fascinating villains ever in Disney movies, and Timon and Pumbaa are nice sidekicks. Nala, Mufasa and Rafiki and the hyenas are quite wonderful characters as well, and all the characters are essential in the story, moving the plot further. The final battle is one of the most thrilling battles in Disney movies, and especially the duel between Simba and Scar with slow-motion and fire is quite spectacular. The actors are very good in their roles both in the Finnish ahd English versions, and they really make the characters believable.

The revised animation on the DVD is all right, although I feel some of the magic was lost from the original VHS release (especially Mufasa's mane looks a bit odd on the DVD when compared to the mane on VHS). The inclusion of "Morning Report" felt a bit unnecessary, but it's all right. Luckily one can also access the version of the movie (with the DVD's "enhanced" animation, though) without the song included, so one can see the theatrical cut without the song (and with the original dialogue). I would've wanted the version without the "enhanced" animation included too, but at least we have two versions of the movie with the "enhanced" animation, so those who don't like the new song can watch the version without it.

In any case The Lion King will always hold a special place in my heart, and thanks to its good acting, music, animation and story it's a very good movie and one of Disney's best.
