I love how she looks. I saw this picture originally in a Time for Kids article on Disney's 3-D animation projects. And it looks rather good. 8)

hopefully they lose the unbraided from the title, make it serious(i.e. not Shrek like), and make it a musical. If they follow that it might be the beginning of Disney's 3rd renaissnace.

Prince Eric wrote:Even though they have said it will no longer be a satiric comedy in the vain of Shrek, I still think it will be more along those lines that a full-blown love drama.
When did they say that?! That raises my interest level greatly.

I stick that it should be made on 2D instead of 3D, but it seems that the second one will be the chosen animation method.

I´ll really have to wait to tghe first teaser to make a judgement, because otherwise I´ll feel like than Disney is making another Barbie movie :P

Excellent find! Don't know how you came across the pic, but nice work. This movie so far seems to be a bit of a stretch...I guess we can only hope it does well though, as the future of Disney animation in either pencil or CGI format strongly depends on it.

She's pretty! But waaay too thin. Then again, it is make-believe.
Reminds me of Barbie! :D

I agree. I like the musical idea. It should be like the classic disney princess movies with the new CG twist.

Yeah I think it will be a musical. IMDB.com says it will be and I read that Clay Aiken will be the singing voice for the prince, or at least I think it's a prince :) I'm not too big on Clay, but you have to admit he does have a great disney singing voice. He did "Proud of Your Boy" proud.

but the pic of rapunzel is making me change my mind a bit....looks like it will be a good movie....

i agree too that it should me a more serious film....Shrek was a great movie, but I'd like to have a Disney classic fairy tale....

I think it will be a musical. Like someone said, Clay Aiken will be the singing voice for the prince. Also, in the other thread about Disney's upcoming projects, there was mention that Kristen Chenowith (The Music Man, Wicked) was cast too. If Disney went to the trouble to get those two to sign on for the movie, Rapunzel Unbraided has a pretty good chance of being a musical. Also, this may be a bit of a stretch, in the making of Proud of Your Boy, Clay Aiken mentions how its exciting to be voicing a Disney character; technically, with Proud of Your Boy he wasn't really voicing a character for the movie (it was a song Aladdin would've sung, but for the DVD this was more like a tribute to the memory of the song and Howard Ashman) so maybe he was talking about his work for Rapunzel?!?

Anyhow, I like this picture too. Ever since the picture of her with the squirrel and the concept art and original art of what the movie style would be based on (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... t=rapunzel), I was no longer worried for this movie. I'm interested to see of how this storybook, classic art style will work with CGI animation. Hopefully it will succeed in being a memorable Disney Classic.

i love both of those pictures, and the talk of this possibly being a musical really is exciting! I really hope that this film turns out to be of the same style as what we are used to for a "princess film".

I think her character design is awesome. i really don't have a complaint. As for how thin she is... take a glance at all of our princess's (except Snow White) and especially ariel, jasmine, and belle. I think their heads are larger than their waists, lol. i can see a lot of ariel in her face, and i like that because i think even though she will be 3D, she will blend well with the other princess's and that's always good.

I'm really looking forward to this film, and i'm really hoping that Disney wont dissapoint us!

Ooh she is lovely! :) Where did you find this picture? Is there a site about the new movie? Thanks so much for posting the pic, I'm been kinda out of the Disney loop since school started up again.

Okay, I've been slightly confused over the story for quit some time now but I think i've been able to put all the pieces together:

from Animated-News:
The Disney Power Board displays ten new pictures connected to Disney's Rapunzel Unbraided. Along with an updated look at the film's title art and title character, the images also reveal screencaps taken from a convention Glen Keane held at the Gobelins school in Paris, during last April. There, Keane specified that the main character of Rapunzel Unbraided will be Claire and the name of her prince will be Vincent. In addition, her castle will be part of the Mont Saint Michel in France, in the middle of the sea. Rapunzel Unbraided will enchant audiences in November 2008.
okay, so two characters with different names from the original story get caught up in the classic fairytale. (rings a bell).

Plot Summary Rapunzel Unbraided From IMDB.com:
Sick to death of storybook endings where true love conquers all, a frustrated witch brings two romantically-challenged teenagers from the real world into the classic fairytale, and transforms them into the legendary long-haired heroine and her gallant prince.
okay, so real world/fairytale world? Does this imply Rapunzel will be a combination between live action and animation. Isn't that what 'Enchanted' was about, the Alan Menken project about a wicked witch and a New Yor girl travelling from animation to live action? Have the two projects been merged or something?

Plot Summary for Enchanted from IMDB.com:
When she falls in love with a prince, a peasant girl who is banished from her animated kingdom by the evil queen. She winds up in the very real New York City, where she falls in love with someone else, though her prince -- and the queen -- are heading her way.
sounds about right :)
