I just recently started getting into the last band there. Really good gothy/synthpop. I like angry electronic music (aka: electro/industrial/EBM), some synthpop, some goth, soundtracks and old punk...the newer punk bands can play and sing too well!

I like Blur and Oasis, but I wouldn't call them favorites. I haven't heard of the others.

Other than them, I listen to a lot of classic rock and otherwise good music from years past: Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Crosby Stills & Nash, Eagles, Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Earth Wind & Fire, Eric Clapton, so on and so forth. My favorite active band, although they've been around the block a bit, is U2.

In other genres, I like to listen to music scores and some classical (mostly early 20th century...I'm not a huge Mozart fan, etc.). The Planets suite by Gustav Holst is a particular favorite of mine. And I can never get enough of Joe Hisaishi's movie scores; I even ordered a Porco Rosso soundtrack from Japan to get a hold of the music. He's a really amazing composer.

Oh, and here's my own obscure artist: anyone else here like Squirrel Nut Zippers?

I also liked how they got rid of their first lead guitar player (Dave Mustaine) and he went on to make one of the best metal bands ever... Megadeth.

I could ask the same thing - never heard of them. Not that I really care, though. There IS a lot of music around - just dig deeper, and you'll find much you've never heard about - way down in the underground.

Aly and AJ are those two twins from the Disney Channel, Carrie Underwood was the last American Idol winner, and the rest (or at least the majority of them) are Christian artists.

I like Madonna... I have 28 of her songs on my iPod... I just wouldn't consider her a "favorite." Actually, I haven't really heard much of her stuff outside of the mainstream radio hits, though I do own <i>Ray of Light</i> and the <i>Evita</i> soundtrack. I suspect that a lot of people here probably like her, but just don't count her among their favorites (of those who have posted, anyways).
