Agreed! I think "Dakota" from "Original Family Band" should be ranked right up with Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Oklahoma" ... just a bit further north! It should have been nominated (at LEAST)!

Jerry, you're my new best friend. I LOVE The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band! Dakota is an awesome song. My favorite though has to be the "West o' the Wide Missouri" song. I think the whole election night sequence is just so much fun to watch. Seriously, though, Jerry you have excellent taste in movies and you have no idea how happy I am right now to know that not only has someone else heard of (or seen this movie) but that they like it as well. My hat's off to you

It seems to me that we discuss the Disney Animated Classics all of the time on this website. But rarely do we discuss the Classic Disney Live Action Films. So I have decided to start this thread dedicated to the Classic Disney Live Action Films. You can talk about your favorite Classic Disney Live Action films here.

A few of my Personal Favorites are.

Bon Voyage: Even though this movie isn't very popular I always really liked it, Fred MacMurray and Jane Wyman were dynamite together. Also this movie was more Adult then most of the Disney films. It dealt with many adult concepts.

Another one of my favorites was Follow Me Boys: Fred MacMurray and Vera Miles were dynamite together. And this movie is still one of the most popular films ever made. Also Kurt Russell shined as Whitey.

There are the ones that everyone seems to love (films like <i>Swiss Family Robinson</i>, <i>The Parent Trap</i>, and of course <i>Mary Poppins</i>), and I definitely appreciate them a lot.

But from ones that get less attention and praise, I'd have to say the <b>Dexter Riley Trilogy</b> rocks. Goofy fun, very tongue-in-cheek and very inspired.

And nearly all <b>the films of Dean Jones</b>. What a comedic legend and likable leading man. <i>The Ugly Dachshund</i>, <i>Snowball Express</i> are two very good ones, and his presence helps make <i>The Love Bug</i>, <i>Monkeys, Go Home!</i>, and <i>Blackbeard's Ghost</i> a lot more entertaining than they might otherwise be. I'm really looking forward to seeing two more of his films for the first time this spring.

In my Jontin Car, My Jontin Car, riding along in my Jontin car, ... Gnome Mobile and Darby O Gill have to be two of the best features released by Disney. The recent DVD release of Darby was particularly sweet as it contained the Disneyland episode I captured the King of the Leprechauns. Two thumbs also up for the Nutty Professor and The Shaggy Dog. I remeber begging my folks to rent these whenever we went to the video store.

As a kid, I probably had more of Disney's live-actions on tape (mostly taped off of TV) than I had of their animated films, namely:

i love them all, but one scene that always stands out for me is the car fight scene from summer magic.........

Im a huge fan of all th ehayley mills films, as well as anything with tommy kirk!

I grew up with the Disney live action films of the 70s. I must confess that I loved ANYTHING with Kurt Russell in it. I had a crush on Jan Michael Vincent for years after seeing him in The World's Greatest Athlete. I also loved the Apple Dumpling Gang movies and the Herbie movies.

Although they were older, the Fred McMurray movies hold a special place in my heart. As a treat at the end of the school year, we often got to watch The Absent Minded Professor or Son of Flubber back in the good old days of film projectors and screens in schools. Follow Me Boys is an awesome movie, and I'm glad that it's on DVD now.

The live action movie that stands out the most in my mind and that gave me the most laughs, though, had to be Gus. Although they had minor roles in the movie, Bob Crane performed wonderfully as "The Pepperpot", and Johnny Unitas was the perfect sidekick. I still laugh at the scenes where the cheerleader flips across the field right through the bass drum and when Tim Conway and Tom Bosley chase Gus through the grocery store.

My favourite live action Disney movies are mostly popular ones. I grew up with these and yet I have none on DVD.

There may be a few others but I'll have to think which ones I'm missing.

Herbie has always been my all-time favourite though especially 'Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo'. Most people, in fact everyone I know doesn't list that one as their favourite but it is for me!

I must say that I don't exactly dig the live action Disney movies as nearly as much as the animated classics, but some of the ones I've seen are great, especially the first three in my personal list of favourites...
