I agree, not that I don't like Lady and the Tramp... I just haven't seen it in years!

I was also a little surprised to see Cinderella before Little Mermaid, Cinderella was never one of my favorites. Plus wasn't Little Mermaid the one that brought the "Disney Renaissance"?

The Little Mermaid and Cinderella

Hey, hey, hey! Cinderella was Walt Disney's return to classic feature animation and storytelling, after a long break from it and making only "package films". Actually, a lot was riding on Cinderella. If it didn't do well, the studio could have failed. But as you can see it made money. Of course, The Little Mermaid did bring more of a renaissance, but I'm pointing out that Cinderella was important too. And I haven't seen Lady and The tramp in forever so I'll be happy for that to come out!

It actually makes sence buisness-wise. You see, these movies are old already, and a younger generation are forgetting they even exist. It would be smarter to have them available sooner, while holding off The Little Mermaid's release since it's more fresh in people's mind. Quite simple really... Besides, they can't have all the huge money makers out at once  (which is why I'm surprised they released Snow White, Beauty, Lion King, Aladdin and Bambi one after the other).

Alan, do you have any appreciation for any Walt era film? And whether you like it or not, many regard Walt's classics (including Lady and the Tramp) better than Ariel's movie.

Alan Disney is taking out the better Disney films in October (Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and 101 Dalmatians) because they are more popular then (Bambi, The Jungle Book and Lady and the Tramp) you know Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Day are holidays to buy the better DVD's.

Actually, I really don't think Lady and the Tramp really deserves a spot in the Platinum Editions. Oh well, too late now.

i think LADY & THE TRAMP qualifies as a classic because of the Peggy Lee music, if for no other reason!

i'll be interested to see what extras they include!

Don't know which DVD you're taking about, but I recently saw my Sleeping Beauty SE in Spanish and it was a new dubbing. The dialogue and voices were fine, but the songs weren't that nice at all! The girl for Aurora didn't do such a good job singing and they changed the lyrics of the songs!!!!

I also started watching Beauty and the Beast PE in Spanish and I just couldn't stand the voices of the people. I stopped the movie in the "Belle" song sequence.

well, The Sleeping Beauty re-dubbing is rerally a crap, you should get the original work, it´s 100% worthy

Specially Maleficent´s voice(made magnificently by Rosario MuÑoz Ledo)

I really can't wait for The Little Mermaid! My friends keep asking me if I have it yet and I tell them it's not coming out till October 2006 so keep waiting. And we're all 18 and 19 but we all love the film! I hope they make a really nice cover art design for it. I like the old black diamond vhs design the best so I wanna see something like that. It has to be a little more darker though in tone. They should take out Eric and just leave Ariel in the center also. That's the only changes that really need to be made.
