I haven't seen too many movies so far this year, but here's my review of the ones I have seen.

Worst:
By far, the worst is The Wedding Date. It was dumb, poorly acted, and they could have done soooo much better with that movie. It was disgusting and pointless. The high point was the very opening where they used one of my favorite songs.

The Pacifier - Dumb. It wasn't funny and there were too many diaper jokes. Something like that just wasn't believeable. It's too hard to see Vin Disel as a family man.

Best:
Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants - a sweet movie about friends. It was just as good as the books are, if not better, imo. They picked good actresses who look 15-16 years old.

Phantom Of The Opera - Great movie, great songs, great people to sing them. I never say the play, much less did I know anything about the plot before, so I had nothing to compare it to. The scenery was beautiful and I loved everything about it.

In-Between:

Bewitched - I rather liked it. The acting was pretty good (Shirley McLaine was perfect), the rest of the cast was ok, bits of the script were pointless, but it wasn't a waste of money, either.

I haven't seen as many movies this year for some reason, but I'll give my top 2 and bottom 2 with a reason why I put them there.

Best:

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Although style over substance in places, I just loved the wacky nature of this film.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: I'm not all that familiar with the original book, but this was fun and I liked how not all the special effects were CGI.

Worst:

Hitch: This grating piece was like watching two sloths climb a tree.
War of the Worlds: I think that I'm too cynical for this. Bad acting, a stupid outcome and other bad factors made me say "thumbs down" to this one.

Batman Begins - The best comic movie I've ever seen. A+

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory - A way better adaption than Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Johnny Depp gave a different side of Mr. Wonka. A

Madagascar - I loved this film because it was a great movie to watch to start the summer off. It's funny, the plot is unique though. B+

That movie came out last August so not really 2005. I never saw it, I need to give it a rent.

Really it was that long ago? Oh well what do I know. Anyway, yes it is a terrible movie. The filming is horrible and the whoel movie didn't have one exciting part. It was like a really twisted version of Jaws

DisneyFan 2000 wrote:2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Genius is a word that would describe this movie in short. :) Jonny Depp is great as usual, Tim Burton delivers a stylized and funny film! And the Ompa songs steal the show! One of the best movies of the year! 9.5/10

8. The Island - Not bad, but nothing good either. I went out of the movie feeling a sence of deja vu. Been there, done that, only with better acting. I had a fun 2 hours, but it ends with that. 6/10

9. Fantastic 4 - Ranks right up there with Electra and Catwoman... 5/10
Updated since my original post with a few movies! :)

Yeah, there are some s**t ones, but some great ones have also been released. In time people learn to ignore crap fests like Stealth (who gave that director 100 million dollars? :? ). Thought I might bump this for anyone who still wants to update / add his/her list. I've updated mine with Crash.

I haven't seen too many movies, but I really enjoyed Star Wars Episode III when I saw it. I also enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle. I don't see really bad movies because I don't pay for my movie ticket to see bad movies, I only see good movies!

So why did you see Star Wars: Episode III?

My favorite movie of the year so far is Me And You And Everyone You Know. This was a very challenging film to watch and definately not for the light-hearted. The lead performances were good, but the star of the show was the little boy who played the younger sibling. It's really weird, but what's really astonishing is how our whole world is being dectralized and forced to be taken over by technology. Even our "art" is becoming vitual.

Runner-up honors goes to Howl's Moving Castle. I really enjoyed the anti-war message and the allusion that war in general is foolish and ultimately pointless. That may or may not be the case of with every way, but the movie really did strike a nerve. I just love the art direction in this thing. It's gorgeous and so is the score!

Grand prix (Third place) goes to the Japanese film Nobody Knows. Awesome! It's a fantasy in reality, and a haunting one at that. Anyone with kids should definately see this movie! You will fall in love with the cast, especially the lead, winner of the Best Actor award at Cannes last year.

I hope some people take my suggestions and watch the three aforementioned pictures! You won't be dissapointed, unless you're of The Fantastic 4 school of film. :)

I'd say by far Crash is the best film this year. It really makes you think about stuff, y'know? Also Cinderella Man is up there too.

BTW, am I the only one who saw Sin City and recognized it for the crap it truly is? IT was a Quintin Tarantino wannabe film. D- definitely. And what's with all the ragging on Wedding Crashers? That film was hilarious (but way too long). I'll post an official list after I see the last major film of the year: Chronicles of Narnia and King Kong.

Hey at least Alan didn't see

Madagascar
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Beauty Shop
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Now I understand SCI-FI movies(like Star Wars) aren't for everyone, but c'mon you couldn't have actually liked these movies better than Revenge of the Sith!

BTW this film couldn't have been worse than Wedding Crashers! Don't get me started on how bad that film is!
