It was awesome! It was really cool to see the creators of the film. They showed us lots of character designs of Flynn and Rapunzel (many of them by Glen Keane). They showed us a storyboarded sequence of when Flynn meets Rapunzel and the (mostly) final version of it as well. Then they showed how they would use 2D techniques and use them to improve the CG animation. After the panel was over, everyone got a free lithograph featuring some character drawings. It was all very, very cool.

lol, I think it just plays into a big joke. It's more than likely where this huge bar musical scene we've been hearing about with the viking guys takes place.

It reminds me of a bar in my area called "The Thirsty Turtle". It just burned to the ground last week though... Maybe it attracted a rough crowd itself?

Correct on both counts. The name is a pure throwaway gag - it's on the tavern sign (shown once) and never gets mentioned again that I can recall - and it plays into a larger plot point that will require some spoiling to explain. (Spoiling we might actually get from Disney eventually, since it's relatively early in the movie.)

NOW THEN, was anybody at that dang panel who can report in? Cause it sounds from those tweets like they showed the hair-fu scene and seemed to imply that it WAS going to be in the movie after all. In which case they must've decided to put it back. Say "Not so," someone!

And is that really all they showed? Same old same old? What the hey? No music? No story? No GOTHEL? And after they graced a bunch of media types in Europe with a 20 minute preview?

I doubt the folks on the panel really wanted to play it that cagey. This must drive them even crazier than it's driving me. They have this fantastic movie that everyone has a wrong impression of, and there's apparently nothing they can do about it. Has marketing implanted a microchip in everyone's brain that zoinks them every time they threaten to say or show something interesting? There's a story here, I tells ya. Something is rotten in Burbank.

The panel was so amazing, so much fun. A lot of laughs and great insights. My day was almost ruined though when I was almost ousted out of my seat. I had waited in that room since 10am and slowly moved up and was able to get in the front row. Then some people from Disney, or somewhere were suddenly saying they need the whole front row for people. But I said I'd been waiting forever, and eventually let it go. But for a few minutes there I thought I was going to get sent to the back of the room, after waiting for hours. Luckily, I was able stay in front and see Glen Keane. But they woudn't let us take pictures. Not even of the panelists. But I was just happy to be there.

I was not that familair with the two directors bt they were a riot, and very cute. If their personalities leak are any indication of the humor of the film (which I think it is) then the film will be very funny. I enjoyed the footage we saw. It was nice to hear Mandy Moore's voice in an actual full scene, and what I liked is that she obviously chaned her voice a little. It's her Rapunzel voice, and it varies from the way she normally speaks. They also showed part of a scene where it appears Flynn is forced to sing and he's dancing in a bar. It was very funny. I'm going to do a more detailed blog posting, so I'll post that link for anyone who cares to read it.

Hi Fans around !

I am happy to share with you a report from the recent french preview that happened in Paris in France .
I am already sorry to say it's only in french but I guess some of you (hihi!) will be able to translate it a bit.

I have to say that I'm close to the production in some ways, especially by the fact I have done some illustrations on Tangled's books and a bit more fun related products but I'll make more updates in a not so far future!

Also, stay tuned on my blog and FB's page next week as I'll get an exclusive image to share 24 hours before it will be released on the official Facebook page of Tangled!

Ooooh, do I hear a call for help? Translations. I can do that. I did it before! I'll try and translate the piece later today! In the meantime, that artwork is so gorgeous! Awesome to see some of those pictures in that resolution!

And WOW at those sketches in that lithograph! LOVE all those sketches! Absolutely wonderfull stuff! Even more sorry I couldn't go to Comic-Con myself, that will be such a collector's item. Maybe I'll be able to get it on ebay at some point!

That clipart is of the official Disney Princess franchise. So, Eilonwy would not be included, but Pocahontas would be.

This is what I think Disney's current marketing mentality is:

Pocahontas adds diversity, regardless of whether actual royalty is involved. And The Black Cauldron does not exist, along with the '70s.

Tarzan should definitely make an appearance in Rapunzel!

When you think about......It's probably not cute at all.Once you enter that tavern,you will see drunk vikings and thugs all around you.And that's not cute. I can imagine Rapunzel saying,"Oh!This looks like a nice place."When she enters the tavern she'll think,"I wanna go home!"

Oh,I have a question for mawnck: Did Rapunzel feel uncomfortable in anyway through out the movie?I'm asking this question because I think that a child(especially a sheltered child) would feel uncomfortable in a non-child friendly evironment.

Personally, I don't think being the daughter of a Chief is that far off being the daughter of a King. I mean, the real Pocahontas was referred to as a princess by the English four hundred years ago. I don't think her inclusion is as glaring as when Tinker Bell is included in the line.

And it's probably better for Eilonwy's sake sake she's not in the line. If there's a problem with modern Disney marketing, a huge part of it lies in this franchise.

The Princess line skews people's conceptions of the DACs and their protagonists because of Disney's choice in marketing (frilly dresses, pretty pink colors, all that).

Eilowny and Taran and the universe of The Black Cauldron deserve more attention than they get, but the Princess franchise is not the way to get it. In the end, it does more damage than good.

Also while we're talking Princesses'....Princess Kida from Atlantis isn't in there either.....I think they should make a book about listing all the women of Disney....whether they be a princess, a cat, or a dominant main female character that isn't a princess.....

also, why is everyone freaking out about that darn princess line while we have these awesome Rapunzel, Flynn, Maximus and Pascal sketches haha, priorities people More then enough time to talk about the princess line when the movie is out and about LOL
