If this is how it's going to be? Then, fine! I am never want to visit this miserable thread ever again, until I hear good news that hand drawn animation is finally coming back again! And let me warn all of you, 2d hand drawn animation will never be dead on my watch! And it's all Bob Iger and his executives fault that hand drawn is not doing business, and I don't care if it's a business choice. I don't know anything about business, but I don't need to. Because money isn't everything. And I I can't wait to see Bob Iger get the boot when 2016 comes and hopefully Tom Staggs will be better CEO than Bob. They better not chose Jay Rasulo. He'll ruining everything like destroying hand drawn animation. Mark my words. And hand drawn animation will never be dead! So there!

if the disney company didnt keep moving forwards, it would have folded decades ago! they do what they have to to make money and so keep the company afloat and many hundreds [or thousands, taking worldwide park and store staff into account?] employed. if they didnt move forwards, we wouldnt have had any of the early shorts, mickey would never had been drawn nor found his voice, and animation wouldnt have hit the big screen with snow white. we have CGI because we had hand drawn. same as we have MP3 files because we had gramophones and the old 78s.

dont get me wrong, i love hand drawn and always will, but at the end of the day, CGI is the path to take right now. just be greatful they havent gone the way of alvin, smurfs and garfield.

Well, I still want hand drawn back. And like I said, I am never want to visit this damn thread until I hear good news that Disney is finally bringing back hand drawn animation. I'll give it like a couple years when Disney made the right choice to pick the perfect CEO.

I'm all for the whole "Keep moving forward" thing myself. Just as long as they at least don't forget what made them so great and they treat 2D animation with respect and utilize the medium and its animators for something full-fledged instead of using them only for stupid pencil tests of CGI films (which I still think is a waste of talent and potential).

I've been thinking, I guess my obsessive stubborn streak is getting the best out of me. I was a total ass. Pardon my language. And trying to hard to find good news for another hand drawn animated movie. I just don't like it when people keep saying hand drawn is dead and sometimes in my opinion, it's not true. Hand drawn is not dead, but possibly in hibernation. But maybe if someone will give hand drawn animation a true love's kiss, it'll rise again. Silly I know. So, in the end, I'm sorry that I was a total butt munch and I'll do my best to behave myself. If some of you users won't except my apology, well, I don't blame you. I will still have hope that Disney can do another hand drawn animated movie and maybe someday that Sotiris will find good news that the medium we all know and love will return.

hibernation is a good way to put it. i dont doubt that someone, someday will bring hand drawn back to the fore.
do you explore movies from other companies? im sure theyve already been suggested, but studio ghibli does lovely films, and there are heaps from 80s and 90s from various others like the land before time series, balto trilogy, secret of nimh, ferngully, iron giant etc. have a look on youtube and see what strikes you as worth trying. you might surprise yourself.

Yep, Iron Giant was a good film. There was plenty of great 2D animation being made in the 90's outside of Disney, especially from people like Don Bluth, so there's certainly things to appreciate from their work as well. Only problem is, a lot of these other 2D studios had to be closed down, so they're no longer relevant these days. Funny how it's always the 2D ones that get closed, isn't it?

And don't worry, I'm always going to have your back when it comes to Disney and 2D animation. I hate what Disney's been doing also.

Aw! That so sweet. Thank you. But, like I said, hand drawn is not dead, but possibly in hibernation. Until either a new CEO or new director will give hand drawn a true love's kiss to rise again.

Actually, quite a number of CG studios have shut down over the years due to bankruptcy, flops or other issues. Imagi Studios, which made the CG TMNT movie in 2007 was closed after Astro Boy tanked. CORE Animation, which made The Wild, also didn't last very long.

didnt the studio that made Happy Feet also close down?

^You mean Animal Logic? Well, apparently, they just animated the Lego Movie and they're still up and running so I don't think that they're struggling at all.

Most of their other animated movies are duds (Guardians of Ga'hoole, Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, the Happy Feet sequel) but they also double as a visual effects company, which is probably why they aren't closed.

Really? I'd never that of that. Maybe there is hope for hand drawn animation. Not that I'm still obsessed about since I'm trying to control my behavior.

If anything, CG's an upgrade to stop-motion more then it is to hand drawn animation and yet, we still get a couple stop motion films on a regular basis. CG shouldn't keep hand-drawn animation out of the artist's toolset.

Well I don't care what you're going to say...I'm gonna watch Legends of Oz...And bad reviews ain't gonna stop me.

Does this film have hope of getting an International release...Or at least when its gonna get out on DVD...

And anyway, I don't get why people say it's "fanfiction garbage" or anything like that, when it seems more closer to the books and the original film than all the past Oz fanfiction crap that's been flooding lately (Wicked, Oz the Great and Powerful...) (which are even more fanfiction than LoO- come on, the Witch being BFFs with the main cast before Dorothy came? The Wizard being a prophecised hero? Don't joke with me).
