I regret part of what I said about the Lopezes in my last comment. They're not my favorite Disney composers, but I do like their music, and apart from that, they look like nice people, so I'm glad for the opportunities they're getting. What I said about WandaVision restoring my faith in them is inaccurate too. I hadn't really lost my faith in them; the show just made me realize they were better than I remembered. I guess I'm still upset Lin-Manuel Miranda and them keep getting new animated films at Disney while Alan Menken, who in my opinion is far superior to both, doesn't. I thought he would get more films after Tangled, but that hasn't happened. Only Ralph Breaks the Internet, but that was just one song. I'm glad he has many other projects now, though, like the Enchanted sequel or the animated film from Skydance Animation.

I wish M&C hadn't retired before Lasseter was thrown out (although I still believe they were told to treat Moana as their swan song, considering all the echoes back to TLM, and they didn't really want to leave), because no doubt they'd pick Menken as composer for any musical they'd make if Lasseter wasn't there. I don't think they were allowed to pick Menken for TP&TF or to pick hand-drawn animation for Moana. Things seem to be improving so much at Disney without Lasseter's toxic, control freak presence. I don't just mean WDAS, but even things like their use of IPs in video games, the Disney Princess line, etc. Just going by how he acted with Frozen on OUAT and several of his films in Kingdom Hearts 3, he was very strict about things being kept separate. Jennifer Lee doesn't seem like the type to stick her nose into every aspect of the Disney company--thus far. It probably helps that PIXAR and WDAS have separate directors now, no one person has this huge amount of power to bend the company all in their own direction.
Do any of the directors still at WDAS have any history working with Menken? I know the WIR directors obviously wanted to use Menken in the sequel; perhaps others have that desire, but haven't been allowed. *shrug* I'd love to have Menken do another film or two for WDAS, but if he's off-limits then I'd prefer they involve the Lopezes over Miranda, the Mary Poppins Returns talent, the Greatest Showman people, etc.

The film has been
rated PG-13 for sequences of adventure violence.

New poster. It looks like they tried to mimick Drew Struzan's style.

Apparently, the leads were involved in the decision to make this is hybrid release.
Disney gave an early heads-up to talent when it moved its theme park-inspired movie Jungle Cruise to a day-and-date premium video on-demand model on its service, Disney+, for July 30. Sources say that Disney began talks with stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt two to three weeks before the announcement. When it came time to unveil the news, it was made by Johnson on his social media channels, hours ahead of the company’s May 13 earnings call.

Indeed! To me it is something that maybe took a liiiiiittle bit off actually (with the cursed conquistadors..) I think ‘Jungle Cruise’ should be its own thing: the theme park attraction has a very different feel compared to POTC! and so should the potential franchise I think (and for POTC: cursed pirates were more welcome because of the skeleton section in the attractions. Nothing from the ‘Jungle Cruise’ attraction directly justified the cursed explorers. Although some of the visuals with them are really creepy!! At least for little kids.) Anyway the rest of the trailer is really enticing! And this film remains one of the 2021 Disney releases I anticipate the most!

I found this trailer to be more boring than the last. They tried focusing more on the action, but the end result was frantic and disjointed. The film overall feels very generic and derivative. I felt I had seen this movie a million times already. I wish we had gotten the Tom Hanks/Tim Allen comedy version that was in development back in 2011. That would have been fun.

Well, I know that Disney has said the redo of the theme park ride that's currently going on at some Parks is not tied to this film...so there's the old version of the ride, the one being worked on (that has a brand new story- the Theme Parks subforum here has info on that if you're interested), and then the film... There were elements in the original POTC ride that got updated to include the film series, and even if the ride they're working on now doesn't, maybe in the future, they'll add stuff from the film into the ride. Or not.
The Haunted Mansion +
The Country Bears films aren't based on the rides as much, especially the latter, if memory serves me... I guess for me, I'm not as bothered with "loosely based on a theme park ride" movies, like I'm not bothered by "loosely based on a book" movies...

Indeed. Yet none of the previous or current versions of the attraction includes elements of fantasy if I’m correct..? I experienced both attractions in the Magic Kingdom and Anaheim Disneyland, and if some parts may or may not look a bit mystic for the guests (I’m thinking about the snake temple in the Florida version of the ride) nothing is directly magic. Not that I complain actually! ..if it helps the plot to get more 'spicy'..

And yes, when it comes to the new updated 2021 version of the attraction, it is mostly made because the ride had this long-time reputation of being politically incorrect at parts (so no connection with the potential franchise yet) and they also jumped at the opportunity to be more inclusive with their new characters. It’s just part of a bigger plan that includes a potential revision of all attractions when needed in the Disney parks. Also if you go make some researches or simply watch some respectable YouTube videos on the subject like the one made by
Yesterworld, you'll see there has been numerous updates inside the
Jungle Cruise ride since its opening!
But to be quite honest, it doesn’t bother me at all if the
Jungle Cruise now adopts elements of fantasy!!

..if some of them weren’t so much a reminiscence of the POTC franchise... ^^ which I’m sure now is a safe way to go in the head of executives (and makes me a tiiiiny bit worried for the film originality..? And I want this flick to feel original!

) But I’m nitpicking here ^^ let’s wait for the final product!

Like you
blackcauldron85, I've felt enthusiastic. The D23 Expo presentation for this one kicked ass. [And I actually think POTC Curse of the Black Pearl is MUCH more loosely based on its attraction than
The Haunted Mansion movie (2004), (the latter retaking as many elements from the ride as they could) and it was POTC which ended up being a better artistic and commercial success. So yeah experience shows that "loosely based on an attraction" is one good way to go

Unless it's
The Country Bears.

I'm pretty sure that I read a while back that Disney was nervous when TCB underperformed since they were working on POTC:TCotBP. THM made pretty much double its budget, so I don't know if Disney had higher expectations for that after POTC did so well...

I love Jungle Cruise but every time I see a trailer with very little of the brother character in it I remember that that's reportedly because they had to reshoot nearly all of his scenes very late in the game for being deemed too homophobic
Yeah this pos company isn't getting any of my money for their homophobic trash.
Disney should do everyone a favor and just cancel themselves but not before giving all their money to gay charities.
