You like all 90's disney films...
I thnk the classics (50's, for example) are better than the moderns, but when I was a baby, disney films were Beauty and the beast, aladdín, little mermaid....etc

I always like that these topics appear repeatedly because I'm always changing my mind (though the top 3 usually never differ) and it feels weird to post in a year-old topic.

1. The Little Mermaid ~ This has been and always will be my number one favorite movie. It’s strange to say, but it’s probably molded me just as much as any of the people in my life. It’s taught me that, though parents may have good intentions, they’re as human and as biased as everybody else and that they are NOT the ultimate authority. It’s also what inspired me to draw when I was younger, giving me the special talent I have today.

2. Hercules ~ Like the one above, this movie’s what gave me a fascination with ancient mythologies. Admittedly, the story is NOTHING like the myths, but it was never meant to be. The music’s phenomenal and the animation suits its satirical intention.

3. Mulan ~ Probably the biggest reason I love this movie is because I’m a feminist. But that’s not all that attracts me to it. I can easily relate to Mulan because I’m constantly in a position where I have to choose between myself and my family. I want to be there for my family because I love and respect them, but, at the same time, I want a life of my own (regardless of whether they condone it).

4. The Sword in the Stone ~ I’m not quite sure why I like this movie. Perhaps it’s because Merlin, Archimedes, and Mim are all entertaining characters. Or maybe it’s because of the way magic is dealt with in the film. Who knows? It’s just one of those things.

5. One Hundred and One Dalmatians ~ Why do I like this? Cruella. I used to love watching any part of the movie with her in it. The animation of her driving is incredible!

6. Cinderella ~ To be honest (as I’ve said in another thread), I hated this movie when I was younger. And that resentment multiplied when I was in high school, where all these teenage brats consider themselves Cinderella on prom night (when most have never worked a day in their lives). But when the Platinum Edition came out, I reconsidered my feelings on the movie and fell in love with it. I love that they had Cinderella’s fairy godmother appear under the tree where her mother was supposedly buried in the stories. To me, it was one of those movies where you have to know the back story of the film before you can truly enjoy it.

7. Pinocchio ~ Like Cinderella, I adored this movie the more I grew older. When I was a kid, I thought it was too cartoony. Now, I see that there are plenty of adult themes going on within the story.

8. Lady and the Tramp ~ Again, I didn’t really enjoy this movie as a child. It wasn’t until I re-watched it as a Platinum Edition that I decided that it was probably my favorite of all Disney’s love stories. Lady is just so naïve and Tramp is so caring for her that it’s adorable.

9. The Lion King ~ At ten years old, I loved this movie. Looking back, I’m not sure why. It’s definitely moved down a few notches since then, but I still think it’s a great movie. Unlike with Bambi, I was traumatized when Mufasa died. Mufasa has a warm and caring personality, which made it all the more shattering when you watched his own brother brutally murder him. And the ending is probably the most climactic of any Disney movie. The dazzling introductions and powerful endings are probably what made the Fab Four as great as they are.

10. Treasure Planet ~ Unlike most, I really do love this movie. The only thing that made it so great for me was the relationship between Silver and Jim. That and Jim is a completely lovable character.

How? Without fifty of these threads we can save a lot of bandwidth. And it really doesn't matter if you keep on updating because you can always just post the new order in the thread. It also doesn't matter if there are new forum members are not. If a old thread gets bumped, they will see it and post there. If someone adds another thread with fifty other threads just like it, there isn't any point to add the new thread. That and it saves bandwidth. This thread is truly not needed.

How?
Because then it's not a discussion. Many of the people who've posted in older threads are no longer here and it's just strange to read posts of people that don't even post anymore.

Actually, most of the people in the older threads are here and are regulars. It's not strange at all to read posts of people who posted awhile ago, it is actually interesting to see who posted and who did not. And it is to a discussion, maybe not with the people who aren't here anymore, but there are a lot of people here who I'm sure would be glad to discuss something.

These are my top ten Disney movies, in no particular order (except for the first few) because ranking them would be like one ranking their children in order of their favorites - it's simply impossible

The Lion King - I have loved this movie since I saw it in the theater when I was ten years old. I love the story, the music is fantastic, the animation is in my opinion some of Disney's finest. The characters are strong and loveable, and hateable in Scar's case, who is one of Disney's VERY BEST villains! - what's not to like? (Don't answer that all you Lion King haters :) )

Beauty and the Beast - This is an amazing story with a lot of heart. The fact that it is the only animated feature to be nominated for best picture at the Oscars says a lot. Again- great music and wonderful characters. The ballroom scene is one of Disney's most wonderful and memorable moments. Not much explaination necessary

Aladdin - This film is so great, and it definately one of the funniest Disney movies. Most Disney movies have some humor in it, but I feel Aladdin trumps most in terms of comedy, Robin Williams is simply great! Also, I love Aladdin because it was really the first Disney film to use characters of a different ethnicity (with the exception of The Jungle Book- kind of).

Bambi Thumper is one of my all time favorite characters, so I couldn't make a list without Bambi on it. The story is very cute as well and has a lot of heart - I just love it.

The Fox and the Hound Quite possibly one of Disney's most underrated classics. Tod and Copper are so adorable, and I think the underlying message of the film is really great. Plus, all the supporting characters are really fun too. Great flick!

Cinderella Probably my favorite of the Disney Princess films. Cinderella saved the Disney studio in 1950 and made it possible for Disney to continue his career. I love the characters in Cinderella, especially the mice. The story is very strong, and in the end even suspenseful. It's a beautiful rags to riches fairy tale.

The Little Mermaid This film began what is now known as the Fab Four of the Disney animated classics. Again, like the rest of the fab four, the characters are loveable and great, the music is top notch, and the story is great as well. Also, Ursula is one of Disney's BEST villains.

Sleeping Beauty In a word... Maleficent!! She is without a doubt Disney's best villain! Sleeping Beauty is also a wonderful Princess fairy tale with a beautiful Princess in Aurora. The sequences with the fairies in the cabin, making the cake and the dress is also one of my favorites in Disney Animation.

Lady and the Tramp This film is such a classic, and everyone remembers and loves the spaghetti scene. It is a cute story with really cute and loveable characters as well. Trusty is another one of my all time favorite characters, who is highly underrated. Also, who doesn't love the Siamese cats Si and Am singing "We are Siamese if you please"?

and of course...

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs This is the film where Disney magic began. Without Snow White, we wouldn't have any of the other beloved Disney classics. The story is great and the music is wonderful as well. The film also includes another fine Disney villain! And who doesn't love the Seven Dwarfs?

Honorable Mention:
-Mulan
*Pocahontas
-Peter Pan
*The Jungle Book
-Oliver and Company

10. Lilo and Stitch - the adventure of the story always captivates me. It also made me fall in love with Disney all over again

9. Sleeping Beauty - I don't know why I love this movie so much, it doesn't really fit the mold of movies I tend to like (male feminist here, can't stand the whole "damsel in distress" thing). But I always enjoy re-visiting this.

8. Tarzan - This is the only adaptation of Tarzan I have ever liked. Again, can't really explain it, but I love it.

7. One Hundred and One Dalmatians - The first movie I ever saw in theaters. Been a fan of it ever since. All the characters are so enjoyable to watch, and the story flows very nicely in my opinion.

6. Cinderella - I didn't like this movie, until I got my own wicked step-parent who basically turned me into a male Cinderella. I used this movie as an escape and I've been in love with it ever since.

5. Hercules - Combined my love for mythology and broadway, plus Meg is so awesome.

4. The Jungle Book - So much fun to watch. All the chracters draw you in and even though I feel it runs a bit long, I can overlike this because I love the characters so much.

3. Beauty and the Beast - Such a great story, it's really a 3 way tie for number 1, but I have to rank em, so BatB gets third.

2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Disney's best movie in my opinion. Everything about it, from the animation to the characters to the music is so amazing. I love this movie, t

1. The Little Mermaid - the only reason HoND isn't number one is URSALA. Never has a character captivated me so much as the wicked sea-witch. I love her. She makes up for the many flaws of TLM. Ursala is a goddess.

Honorable Mentions (11-20):
Mulan
Aladdin
The Rescuers
Lady and the Tramp
Pinocchio
Pocahontas
