So at least a third of 101 dalmatians will appear? I love that Dopey is carrying Rolly. And the couple from Us Again is there too!

I want a print of that group photo.

Mary Poppins’ penguins are next to the TLM cast!

Nani and David are wearing the hats from Make Mine Music.

And I’m sorry but I feel like I need to speak up for Quasi becomes it looks like he’s being excluded from the rest of the group.

AHHH so beautiful! I am obsessed with the interactions between a few characters from different movies, like Cody and Penny (and Penny from Bolt standing right beside her lol :) ) wished they would have done more interactions for the group pic but its not necessary. Interesting that Mother Gothel also there! hope there will be a small interaction between Rapunzel and Gothel please :D

But his gargoyle friends are with him :)

I personally think they look really accurate to their movies, aside from Snow White maybe. But I dont really mind, it looks cute! And even Ursula looks like herself here this time :)

Same!

Other random things I noticed:
- Charlotte seemingly cozying up to Gaston
- Peter Pan riding Pete the Dragon
- most casts stick together but Cinderella's stepfamily is placed far away from Cinderella
- it looks like Asha is the sole representative for Wish
- Cody and Penny next to each other, each holding a Rescuer (can't tell who's holding who), and the other Penny is right next to the 1977 Penny
- what is Mrs. Potts standing on? Same for Flounder

The only off model ness I notice at a glance is that some of the quadruped characters have a larger head than usual, Like Simba and the Dalmatians

Is Brom Bones possibly the only character who is depicted twice? I’ve always understood the Headless Horseman to be Brom in disguise (although Wiki claims the Horseman in the movie is meant to be a real ghost…?) and both of them are in the group pic.

I just noticed Oswald the Lucky Rabbit!

It’s so fun to view all the characters in scale next to one another.

Somehow I only just noticed Aladar!

Scratch that, I counted 57 of them, so almost two thirds.

Also, given that characters from Mary Poppins, Pete's Dragon, So Dear to My Heart, The Reluctant Dragon and Bedknobs and Broomsticks are featured, I'm surprised none of the characters from the animated portions of Enchanted show up. The animated cast from Song of the South don't appear to make the cut either. Shame.

The animation in Enchanted wasn't done by WDAS.

That's one of the scenes Will Finn posted storyboards of before he took them down.

yea, not technically, but you still had James Baxter working on it, I would think it could get an honorary inclusion of sorts.

I'll bet that group photo picture will be released as a 1000 or more puzzle at some point :D Also, I can't find Cruella de Vil on there, is there anyone who can find her? :o

Lucille does not look fine in that still, it looks like she’s seen something that shouldn’t be seen while drinking that coffee. rotfl

She’s next to Jafar on your left and on your right, she’s next to Kronk. Above her is Honeymaren and Ryder. Also, I noticed that Hans escaped Elsa’s prevention in the trailer, he’s seen next to Pabbie and below him is John Henry. Lucky him, I guess

Also, I forgot to give my opinions on this short, I’m excited to see it, mostly because it’s an “Everyone is Here!” moment* for Disney Animation. Just like everyone here, I noticed that some of the 2d characters are off-model but that doesn’t bother me too much, largely because of the “Never Pause Disney Movies” memes I saw. It’s also one of the disadvantages of 2d animation and that is sometimes a character can be off-model which is why most 2d animators need to be particular with what they’re doing when it comes to animating them. (Please don’t think that I hate 2d, I still love it guys, have mercy on me! 😭) Also, loooove the picture with everyone in it.

*”Everyone is Here!” is a tagline for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a fighting game that is a celebration of video games, like what Disney is doing.

Considering the lack of resources when it comes to traditional animators and the immense scope of this short, I’ll just take it for what it is.

There’s bits that are beautifully animated from what I can see. But yeah there’ll be cringy stuff as well.

Ursula looked awful in the teaser but she looks better in this group shot. It’s a bit hard to really judge based on these tiny snippets.

I think they look okay. It's interesting they chose to show the Queen as the Hag.

What do you mean by this? Lack of resources? This isnt the 90s, we have the internet, there's a plethora of learning materials to aid in learning hand drawn skill, thats even before we get into paid courses. The developers of Cuphead learned hand drawn animation from scratch by simply reading Richard Williams book on the subject.

I meant human resources. There’s just not enough traditional animators running around with the knowledge of how to animate in Disney’s style.

Sure you can train a new generation, but Disney doesn’t seem too keen on doing that as far as we know. And I doubt they had years of time to develop a nine minute short.

We had nearly two decades without much happening on the hand drawn front. You can’t recruit a bunch of animators ad hoc like you can for CG productions.

Yeah and especially Pocahontas and John Smith looks horribly off-model.

I'm surprised they managed to feature so many characters from each film in the group photo, as well as some from shorts and live-action/animation hybrids. I'm especially glad to see all the not so well-known ones getting some attention, like the characters from the package features, for example.
The Disneynerd wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 4:57 pm AHHH so beautiful! I am obsessed with the interactions between a few characters from different movies, like Cody and Penny (and Penny from Bolt standing right beside her lol :) )
That's an interesting pairing. Other ones I've noticed are Rafiki and Mama Odie (both characters who use magic) or Stitch and the ugly duckling, which of course, is part of Lilo & Stitch's story. Also, Mickey is holding Jiminy Cricket in his hand.

By the way, some of the most difficult characters to spot, at least for me, due to their size, where the cast of The Great Mouse Detective, who are all on Susie the Little Blue Coupe.
Mooky wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 5:06 pm - most casts stick together but Cinderella's stepfamily is placed far away from Cinderella
That's true; I wonder why. The casts of Frozen, Mulan or Robin Hood are not all in the same place either.
Mooky wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 5:06 pm - it looks like Asha is the sole representative for Wish
That's strange. Wish is the only film with only one representative. Why didn't they add more characters from it?

Penny is holding Bernard and Bianca and Cody is holding Jake, the kangaroo mouse from The Rescuers Down Under.

Perhaps Belle is holding Mrs. Potts, but I'm not sure. As for Flounder, I think he's in the Mad Hatter's hat.

I've always believed the Headless Horseman was Brom in disguise as well, but I think they leave it open to interpretation in the film whether it's him or a real ghost.

I didn't expect the animated cast from Song of the South to make an appearance, but yes, it's a shame they're not included. And though the animation of Enchanted wasn't made by WDAS, I agree with Kyle they could've been featured anyway.

Is Tinker Bell in the group photo? And if so, could someone point her out to me? I know she’s featured on the mat frame next to the logo, but I’d be shocked if one of Disney’s mascots wasn’t included in the group pic. And she’s obviously in the short since she’s featured prominently in the trailer.

I see a little yellow dot between Pluto and Jacques and Gus… is that supposed to be Tink?

Also someone needs to tell Donald and Daisy to chill! This is a work event! lol
