The movie formerly known as
Wicked: Part Two has been officially renamed
Wicked: For Good.
Who can say if the title of “Wicked: Part Two” has been changed for the better? But it has been changed for good.
Literally. Universal Pictures has renamed the sequel to this year’s musical hit to “Wicked: For Good.” The movie, which chronicles the second act of the beloved Broadway show, will open in theaters on Nov. 21, 2025.

I don’t get it tbh

Weird. I guess they want to do it because of marketing reasons but they already wrote "part 1" in the movie's title, it's just going to be awkward.

Do you think they will pull a George Lucas/Steven Spielberg and change the title that appears in the first film to just "Wicked"?

I wondered that, too, Duster. Or even
Wicked: Defying Gravity? I don’t know.
People are sharing a photo Cynthia Erivo posted back in the summer of 2023 of the script for part two. You can see it says
Wicked: Part Two - For Good, so it appears this has been the plan for a long time.

People suggested the George Lucas thing, and the Defying Gravity subtitle, on another forum! Weird how minds think alike!
Anyway, I did not know about that photo, that is very interesting. I will wait and see what they do with the title(s).

Perhaps it's just a marketing thing and
For Good is easier to sell than
Part 2. As long as the actual title card says
Wicked: Part 2, I'd be a happy camper. Stuff like this triggers my OCD tendencies
(Same thing happened with
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2 which became
Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning
)

I’m happy the physical release is coming sooner than I expected, but I think they’re leaving money on the table releasing the digital so early. I don’t fully understand the logic behind that, when the singalong version just came out yesterday?
Speaking of the singalong, it is showing in my town but the showtimes are super limited and it doesn’t work with my friends’ schedules so I won’t be seeing the singalong after all.

I feel like there will be some kind of event showings when part two comes out, maybe double features or more singalongs? So hopefully we’ll get to do that.

I hate the re-title for the second part. I'm glad the physical release is coming fast since I never did get out to the theater like I had wanted.

I'm sorry you did not like it,
Patricier21.
Farerb, so, are you like, eating your words after asking when we thought they would cancel Wicked and how it would never be successful because no musicals other than Disney remakes are successful?

Sure. I'm glad they finally managed to adapt the musical and that it's successful.

Do you think the song "Wicked Witch of the East" will be featured in the soundtrack?

Wait just a second? You really think Wicked is in the top 10 worst films of all time you've ever seen? And that Kraven the Hunter was a better film? And that Ariana failed for you??

I would love to watch how Ariana win an Oscar but I'm affraid that it's not going to happen. The costume design should win an Oscar too...
