If they've known something was wrong since 2011, they'd have done something about it by now. This isn't even a "too little too late" situation. After 2010's Beauty and the Beast, the quality in the Diamond line gradually went DOWN with every subsequent release. We went from two discs to one disc. We lost disc art. Some bonus features got trapped in the Virtual Vault, others relegated to Second Screen apps. New bonus features gradually became less and less relevant towards the film (I'd argue the last truly great Diamond Edition bonus feature was Growing Up with Nine Old Men, which isn't even specific to Peter Pan but helped save that disc from having largely forgettable "new" bonuses). Not even Diane Disney Miller's introductions proved of any lasting value unless you planned on going to the Walt Disney Family Museum. If anything, the Signature Collection will continue the downward trend to the point that the last few Signature Collection Blu-Ray releases in 2022 will soon look like their DVD counterparts of five years ago: single-disc affairs pared down to the absolute minimum.Mickeyfan1990 wrote:But like I said (and I'm sticking with this), Disney gets your complaints so odds are they'll improve the line little by little.
This is practically guaranteed. As is basically everything else you said, but especially this.Escapay wrote:...a trivial five minute piece hosted by Prince Ben of Descendents, and that film's modern remix of "Be Our Guest," now set to a bizzarely-edited music video.
Haha, for all our sakes, let's hope they'll be positive in October...magicalwands wrote:Albert, I look forward to your opinions on subsequent home video releases. Whether they're positive or negative, they always are entertaining and informative.Looking forward to October!
Frankly, I'm surprised that when Aladdin came out, they elected to have some random Disney Channel kid do the fluff piece instead of Booboo Stewart of Descendants.JeanGreyForever wrote:This is practically guaranteed. As is basically everything else you said, but especially this.
It all started in 2008 when, after two years of releasing Blu-Rays, they made a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack for Sleeping Beauty, whilst also releasing Blu-Ray/Digital Copy combo packs for a few other films (Prince Caspian and WALL-E come to mind).Disney's Divinity wrote:But since I'm not as in tune with Disney's home media, all these posts about Disney doing their best to force a complete transition to digital and trying to force physical media to fail in sales have been eye-opening for me (though unsurprising, since this is how Disney rolls). If they do drop their physical media, the VERY LITTLE I'm buying from them right now will instead become nil.
The digital copy is the only reason I am even remotely tempted to get this edition. Is there anyone out there who bought the signature edition and didn't use the digital copy? I have some non-Disney movie codes (as well as some Disney ones) I would be willing to trade with.chadhobbick wrote:I purchased this for the digital copy only, since I had the Diamond release of Snow White from a few years back. I ended up giving the blu-ray/dvd to my sister for my nephews. I guess it helps that I just used some rewards certificates from Best Buy to purchase this release.
Yes the making of is longer although I don't remember how much longer. There also is a new deleted scene with the Prince meeting Snow White. I remember that the platinum edition had storyboards of this but I don't think it was a full deleted scene back then.Disney Duster wrote:I would only get this for the longer making-of, and the new deleted scene of the Prince meeting Snow White, if in fact there is a longer making-of and a new deleted scene of the Prince meeting Snow White. Can anyone confirm this for me?
Same. I have hopes for Cinderella because of Don Hahn's comments, although I'm not sure when they will re-release it considering the diamond edition is still in circulation.Disney Duster wrote:Ok thanks. Well...I might buy it. I dunno. I'll take a look at it when I go to the store.
The ones I am anticipating most are Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella, because how the film LOOKS should be fixed for them. Beauty and the Beast had darker colors on the 3D Edition so that might get the darker colors back, and Cinderella's restoration may be fixed since Don Hahn heard about it.
