The third and final season of The Lion Guard premieres on August 03, 2019. Kion is older and has a scar now.

I haven't had a chance to keep up with this series or Elena of Avalor. Last ep I saw was the one with the Guard & the good hyenas vs Scar, the jackals/bad hyenas and the Outlanders. Looks like the Guard will be getting 2 new members. Ive seen one of the eps with the young baboon girl but not the one with the bird yet. Would have liked Jasiri to join(she's my favorite character) but my guess is that she will eventually lead the hyena pack.

Do you think this show could end with Kion leaving the pride, in order to bring the show in line with post-prologue Simba's Pride? Or is the continuity already too messed up and Disney doesn't even care?

It would be great if they made the effort to restore continuity with the sequel even in an awkward, half-baked way but let's face it, they don't care enough to bother. It's still possible but I wouldn't hold my breath.

In the video below, it's revealed how Scar got his scar. Spoiler alert: It's not the same way he got it in the remake.

Yeah, I'm not gonna accept that as canon. That's really lame.

Yeah, even for a children's TV show, that reason is extremely bizarre. That truly can't be canon, can it?

That really is stupid. Some people are speculating that the snake bite also turned him evil because of the change in design of his eyes.

I thought the clip would end with the other lion scratching him, and I was like, why is everybody saying that it's stupid, and then that snake shows up and... yeah, it's stupid.

They could have played with it a bit more. The beginning of the clip gave me some slight Dumbledore/Grindelwald vibes and I assumed that's where it was going, but no. Oh well. I haven't seen the episode in full so maybe he's lying to the snake? Perhaps I'm expecting too much out of a Disney Junior show lol.

Are the old Lion King storybooks or parts of them canon? The ones that reveal Scar's name used to be Taka? They tell a rather good villain origin story.

oookay sure...

I need to catch up with this series but I'm SO behind on so many shows I watch.

Lion Guard
Elena of Avalor
Game of Thrones(I only just started season 2 and I have no idea how Im gonna finish this all, lol)
IZombie season 5(I had no idea it had started again this year and On Demand doesn't have the first 4 eps up, gah!)

and its just gonna get worse when I get Disney+ :P

Well Jean, telling from the trailer, that’s exactly why Scar is evil

So, enchanted scars in this universe make animals evil? Scar’s scar made him evil and not jealousy over his brother? The cringe.

I think in the end they'll reveal that the scar is not what makes someone evil.

Oh wow, I used to think this show's worst sin was just being an unassuming new entry in the franchise but now it's going out of its way to "retcon" prior characterization.

I'm not sure I could give this show enough credit for that.

Those were never canon but a lot of Lion King lore was established from those books by the fans, especially before Simba's Pride came out. And a good portion of the fandom has tried to iron out any inconsistencies so that the various canons can all co-exist although that became more difficult with The Lion Guard's creation.

True. I bet it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to reconcile it all and make it all work somehow.

Is it possible that Scar is lying about his scar origins in this universe, because wanted to sound more "mythical" or important? And saying he got a scar from his brother is decidedly less "cool"?

Wow, that's a terrible origin story, if it can even be called that. And couldn't they hire someone who sounds a bit more like Jeremy Irons?

The series actually restored continuity with Simba's Pride. Kion left the Pride Land in search of the Tree of Life to heal himself from the snake's venom and when he returned all the events of the sequel had already occurred.
