I'm convinced that the ONLY way to get merchandise--ANY merchandise--for these films is to flood Disney with requests for it. Because, otherwise, they will continue to ignore anything that isn't Diamond Edition or Princess Related. Would it KILL them to OCCASIONALLY, just occasionally, mind you, release the odd plush for the 'cult' Disney films. They'd sell...fans would buy them out in a heartbeat. I mean, look at that Gaston doll. How fast did it sell out? And how long had fans clamored for Gaston merch? They STILL haven't restocked him. Or those really lovely Robin Hood plushes from around 2008? Wouldn't it be nice if Disney threw the fans of these films a bone every now and then like that?
Hehe, I know! I'm just dreaming. I don't understand why Disney are being so neglectful of many of their animated movies. As you are saying, would it have killed them to release at least some merchandise for "cult" Disney films as you call them? They would off course sell out and it would have meant so much for the diehard Disney fans to see something other than the most popular princesses get some merchandise. I would have LOVED it if Disney Store/the Disney parks would have made (expensive/deluxe) figurines, snow globes, stuffed toys etc of the characters from Hercules, Hunchback, Pocahontas etc.

But just being a part of the Disney Princess franchise does not ensure getting a lot of merchandise sadly. Belle and Ariel seem to get a lot of attention, while all the others seems to be featured in a lesser degree. Cinderella and Snow White get's less attention than Ariel and Belle. Aurora get's less attention than Cinderella and Snow White. And then you have Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana who are almost totally ignored. Some of the princesses seems to get an upswing in merchandise the year their movie comes out on Blu-ray/DVD (like Aurora last year and Jasmine this year). Look on the Pocahontas and Mulan page on Disney Store, and you find almost nothing to buy. Especially nothing for adult fans, it's all for kids. The same could be said for Jasmine untill recently, but Disney seems to be flooding their store with Aladdin merchandise in anticipation of the Blu-ray/DVD release.

Good idea. Maybe they'd do that.

Why is it Hans with Elsa? He was barely with her. Hans did more damage to Anna than Elsa. It could, at least be both girls? And moreover, big surprise, Disney is being cheap with the Frozen dolls by adding little to no unique touches. Esepecially with Hans. It looks like a regular doll.

whoa they completely changed the Hans/Elsa set! It was going to be Elsa in her coronation gown and Hans in the white outfit he wears during the coronation...wth? These are just more elaborate versions of their basic dolls?!

Now that they made the molds, I wonder if we'll get basic "play" versions of the Witch, Captain Hook and Peter Pan!?

What?! Really? That would have been so much better! I have the regular Hans doll and the difference between that and this is not worth an extra $100.

I never would have guessed Peter Pan and Hook. I would have bet money on a set of Aurora and Maleficent.

I love the witch doll, but I think Snow is just OK. Of the 5, it's the one I would be most likely to buy. Gothel looks great, but again Rapunzel is just OK...and why isn't her dress purple?

The artwork for the series looks much better.

You know what would have been really neat? A set with Merlin and Madame Mim.

Elsa in her coronation outfit and Hans in his gold/white outfit will, sadly, most likely be released exclusively at the D23 Expo. There are leaked pictures of the dolls and of the art design for their slipcover.

I find that the art design for the slipcovers (and the same art having previously been released on diaries, drinking cups etc) are much prettier than the actual dolls.

The Elsa and Hans standard set looks just like the regular doll versions of them both. Really a let down that that much cooler coronation Elsa & white/gold Hans set won't have a public/standard release. I hope we'll get a white/gold Hans 17" limited edition doll at some point at least.

It's to appease the Hansla shippers.

Thank you, Disney.

I love Ariel's look. They did a great job with her. It looks like they mimicked the look of clam shells at her waist, like she had clam shells on one of her previous dolls, possibly from how the mermaids decorated their tails with clam shells in the original fairy tale, but the way they did it here is much lovelier. Her scales are muuuch better too.

I was wondering the same thing! Here's hoping! Since most of these look to be scaled-up versions of the basic, everyday dolls, it would be stupid of Disney NOT to re-use the molds, scale them down, cheapen the outfits and sell them. It'd just be letting money pass them by... I'd buy The Hag and Hook, definitely!
Flanger-Hanger wrote:You know what would have been really neat? A set with Merlin and Madame Mim.
Yeah, it would have. Ditto Megara and Hades, Esmeralda and Frollo, Tiana and Facilier... I could go on.

Elsa in her coronation outfit and Hans in his coronation outfit, as well as a red/slave Jasmine 17" doll, have been released exclusively at D23 Expo.

Here is the official announcement of Jafar & Aladdin 17" dolls. I am hoping we'll get Prince Ali or even Aladdin & Jasmine in the purple outfits that they use at the end of the movie as surprise releases in October when Jasmine, Aladdin & Jafar will be released:D

Anna and Elsa Limited Edition Frozen Fever dolls:

Enough with the Frozen already! They will have released so many Frozen dolls when these two come out in November. They should at least release Hans as well! And then make limited dolls from movies like Hercules, Pocahontas, Mulan, Hunchback, as well as more dolls from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Aladdin, Snow White, The Princess and the Frog and Tangled.

That Jafar doll looks pretty awesome, but the Aladdin one has weird hair. I though for sure they would do a Prince Ali doll since that outfit is more elaborate, and therefore more suited to a doll.

The Frozen Fever ones look nice, but I already have the regular set for the two of them...and that didn't cost me $260 CND to get.

There's a new line of 16"* princess dolls being slowly released by Disney Store that light up and play music. So far the've made Elsa, Rapunzel and Ariel and it will be interesting to see if they do the rest of them. These new dolls are not limited edition and retail for about $50 USD each, which makes them a kind of doll inbetween the quality of your basic "classic" variety and the expensive collector versions:

*Ariel is 18" long due to the length of her tail

I shop when I'm super sad, and I may have spent more money than I ever should have buying the Animatior's Collection dolls...and the mini set... And I was thinking when I saw a new post in this thread, "Y'all, don't even tell me that they're releasing another doll in this set until Moana comes out because I have no money...Thanks Disney Store." But, phew, that's not what the post is about. :D

Oh MAN do those dolls look good! Though I'm sad to see they seem to have just copied poses from the films in the drawings... But I really like the designs for Alice and the Queen of Hearts, Aurora and Maleficent, and Cinderella and Lady Tremaine! I can't tell, but it seems the drawing of Alice doesn't have the detail her doll does...maybe just because I can't see the picture up close. I must also say, that as wonderfully pleased I am to see Cinderella in her pink dress, what is up with it kind of looking like it's ripped up a little already?! But oh my gosh Lady Tremaine is holding a little Lucifer! Aw, that's so cute!
