gays ROCK!!! I don't give a damn what religion says and I don't care about what society says!!! The world would be a MUCH duller place without them!!! We ALL NEED GAYS!!!

Amen to that

. The teacher sounds like he's spreading dangerous, ill-advised, hate messages to his students. If anyone is sending society backwards, it's narrow-minded people just like him.

Yes, and if he is ever officially proven wrong in his lifetime, it'd be nice just to rub the pure delicious irony of his own statements in his face!

He says that he has three sons if I am not mistaken...
One of them HAS to come out of the closet, you know it will happen because karma tends to be a spiteful bitch XD .

Barbra Streisand's new album leaked, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the orchestra versions on disc 1/the standard album to be typical of the overdone overblown overproduced over-syrupy-sweet schlock she's been putting out for the past 20-some-odd years now, but actually, the orchestra is tastefully done and rarely ever drowns out her voice, which is still a fine instrument despite the ravages of that most feared event of a female singer's life - menopause.
But disc 2 is still superior, with the tracks accompanied by nothing more than a piano, a guitar, drums, and bass. It's like being in a smoky jazz club at 2 AM and Streisand just happens to be the singer. If you decide to pick this up, go for the Deluxe Edition - disc 1 will get some rotation, but disc 2 could just become a mainstay in my media players for a while.
And it's got a nice melancholy vibe, which perfectly suits my week. My grandmother passed away early Monday morning after a year-long battle with cancer, and while I'm sad that she's no longer going to be here, it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my family as well, because her illness has been hurting us for so long, and now we can begin healing. But I'm sure gonna miss her. They really don't make women like her anymore.

Well, one of our biggest stereotypes is back on top.
Barbra Streisand's new album debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, beating new releases by Paramore, Mariah Carey, and Madonna.
How many of you bought two or three copies? Admit it!

I'm actually not big on Babs. I don't dislike her though.

Ditto. I think she's okay, but she goes over-the-top too often, and not in the way I like.

I think people responded to this new album for quite a few reasons:
1. It's not yet another collection of overproduced overpolished syrupy dreck where her voice, which is deeper than it was in 1963 but still a fine instrument, is drowned out by synths and songs that are beneath her, but instead uses completely live instruments and her vocals aren't processed to death in Pro Tools. It's far superior to her previous effort, which actually wasn't bad, but could have been better.
2. She didn't do a ton of promo, but she did smart promo - a one-off performance at the Village Vanguard, half an episode of Oprah, ads during programs much of her fanbase would be likely to watch, etc.
3. Barbra fans are typically pretty well-informed about what she's up to. We've known about this album for months.

Actually, I just bought the new Madonna instead.

I bought the new Madonna AND Streisand...So glad Bab's CD was so well received....Madonna's 80s & 90s stuff is SO much better than anything of hers this past decade....Hung Up was great but, c'mon, the ABBA sample MADE the song!

This is so touching. A WWII Veteran speaking for gay rights.

It's been quite some time since I've posted in this wonderful thread! It's always wonderful to see so much love and support for us gays!
I posted this in the previous thread, I think, but I played Angel in my town's summer theatre production of
Rent: School Edition. The videos only recently got put up on youtube, so I figured I'd share if anyone was interested (*note this was a dress rehearsal, the first time I EVER wore the boots, so that can account for some awkward walking moments*):

That was such a touching video, Plinks. It's a shame that a lot more people don't have the same idea that all people should be equal.
And a great performance, sith! When do you go in to performances, or have you already done so?

It was this past summer. It was so much fun! Amazing show to be involved in!

Yes... it's shameful that I'm still in here. But I've only started acknowledging it a few days ago. I've always been attracted to men, but I've been repressing the other half of my sexuality since childhood (odd as that sounds). Needless to say, I'm still rather shy about it...
Can't seem to get up the courage to tell anyone though. Only one of my friends knows.... Just figured that this big, friendly UD community could help! I love you all!
