Have you read any of the many definitions of that given in this thread?
Aurora is a noble woman who is unmarried, and is in a state of danger throughout the whole movie
Those definitions are too much basic and are untrue.
Acorrding to this ANY girl is a damsel in distress.

Not that common.
Do you know what noble woman means?

No, a damsel is a young unmarried girl of noble birth. There's very few damsels now. Distress means to be in trouble. Aurora was under a spell. An evil spell. It wasn't her fault, she was just under a spell. Which makes her in trouble. So she is a damsel in distress. But she's also the heroine. She's the star of the film, she is, and there's no disputing that. It is called Sleeping Beauty and Aurora is a sleeping beauty.

Every girl is noble.

After Disney Villain kindly made that wonderful post, Ariel's Prince still doesn't get it.

Why don't we just close this thread as it's is hopeless case trying to penetrate the facts into his skull.

thats not the meaning right now,
noble birth means she was born with a high rank, usually someone born into a royal family or the family of a duke, count ect.
Glad we cleared something up anyway, perhaps things will make more sense now.

I think that some good discussion has happened in this thread, don't think we need to close it now. Just because 1 person won't change their mind on the subject doesn't mean it has to be shut down completely.

.
Some. But we are now running in circles again in debate that isn't really hard to figure out. The debate is going nowhere.

I've said this before. Many of you people aren't just listening.

Sailor Eric wrote: A damsel in distress doesn't have to be in danger all the time. Aurora, in her story "Sleeping Beauty", is in danger at some points, and so, at least in the story of "Sleeping Beauty", she is a damsel in distress, as well as being the main character/heroine of the story.
And actually, Aurora is in distress throughout most of the movie, and even before the the movie's story. Throughout all her 16 years, she is in danger of being kidnapped or taken away by Maleficent's minions (Maleficent did say in the movie that they had been searching for the Princess all those 16 years). And she was also in danger of falling into the curse on the day of her 16th birthday, which is the day in which the story happens. She is also in distress when Maleficent hypnotizes her with the green/yellow light because being hypnotized made her have no control over herself, and therefore Maleficent was able to get Aurora to prick herself and fall into the evil curse that Maleficent always wanted her to.
Now, when she was asleep maybe she wasn't in distress, but if she was never woken up, then that would be a pretty bad thing, too, because she wouldn't be living her life.
Yes,she does,otherwise she's not a damsel.
Excuse me, but where does it say that a damsel in distress has to be in danger ALL the time? And by the way, please read the post above again, I already explained how Aurora is in distress in almost all the movie, and even in all those 16 years BEFORE the movie!

That's not the point.

Anyway, at least ariels'prince has admitted that Aurora needed help. Let's just end it at that. This discussion got silly a long time ago.

You're arguing with someone who thinks that every female is of noble birth. Enough said.

Ok, i'm gonna give it one more small and simple shot.

ok, here it goes: you already have definitions to BOTH Damsel and Distress;
Basically:
Damsel: Girl
Distress: Danger
Damsel in Distress: Girl in Danger

Now, are you gonna tell me, that Aurora (obviously a girl) was not in danger???

NOWHERE does this phrase imply that a girl has to be in trouble many times in order to become a damsel in distress.

YES, Mulan WAS a damsel in distress, because she is a damsel and she was in distress;
so were Ariel, Jasmin, and Snow White because they're girls who at one point of their lives were in clear distress.
Hercules and Aladdin were in distress at one point too...are you gonna tell me they weren't guys in distress at THAT especific point???

If the phrase meant girl always in danger it would be something like:
"Damsel in Everlasting Distress"
"Fair Lady Who is in Need of Attention Permanently"
"Girl Who We Always Have to be Rescue"
"Loser"

I KNOW! It's like trying to lecture a retard about the advance studies on quantum physic, which the retard obviously won't get.

Actually it's a personal attack and is NOT welcomed at Ultimate Disney.

^ Agreed about that. As well here's a brief off-topic lesson.

Retard is generally an unaccapteble term, there are less rude/ignorant terms used for people who are mentally handicapped (such as that one there)

Also, want to point out, Ariels Prince is from Israle, therefore English most likely is not his main language so he does deserve a tiny bit of a break for those who complain about spelling/grammar. It is not easy trying to talk to people in a different language, I speak from expierience. So, just thought a little a reminder about that would help, not sure in what way.

I'll come back later to post a more On-Topic post, sorry to mods about this Off-Topic only one :)
