My discounted copy of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea arrived today.

Had a lot of fun watching the Grand Canyonscope cartoon on there. I had not seen it before, and I thought I had seen most of the later Donald toons.

I was surprised to seen that the format IS identical to the Vault films. Still can't work out why they dropped the name...

Anyways....looks like a lot of fun.

Yesterday I bought

Casablanca: Special 2 Disc Edition (because it was in a shop for a reasonable price)
Freddy's Nightmares: Vol 1 (because I'm on a whole Freddy thing after seeing Freddy Vs Jason and it was dirt cheap)
Pratical Magic (because Sandra Bullock is "da bomb" and it was dirt cheap)

I also ordered the On the Busses Trilogy off the web (because it was dirt cheap and I want something to threaten my little girl with if she misbehaves. Seriously, I want to see if they're as bad as I remember)

My Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 7 arrived from the UK (I got it there because it was cheap, and has the same cool plastic covers as Australia) arrived today.

Lots of viewing ahead, and this completes my ST: TNG set!

On to DS9 and Voyager now!

I got "Grand Hotel" today, at Borders. For 15 dollars. Best Picture Academy Award Winner, for 1931/1932; with John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Joan Crawford, Wallace Beery, and Greta Garbo, among others...and a really good film, all around. From performance to set design. Wonderful story, classic cinema...

Even if you haven't seen it, you've probably heard some of its lines, like Garbo's, "I want to be alone," or, "People come, people go. Nothing ever happens."

Joan Crawford is glorious here. And Garbo is radiant. And Lionel Barrymore, as an ill man, is terrific, too. Everyone is. A four-star film, for me, though maybe some would find it boring.

I got the last copy of Treasure Planet at Costco for $12.49, and took it home only to discover that the side of the cover was torn open (because of those big, cardboard slips they sell all of their DVDs in, it was impossible to see this). :x

I'll take it back and buy it somewhere else.

I wish they were cheap here! I only have the first season of TNG, and I really want all 7 so I can start on Voyager, but $100 a pop for each dvd set is a LOT.

I was lucky to get a few of them as gifts, and the last one was cheaper from the UK.

Have you seen the UK/Australian covers, as opposed to the US ones?

They are very cool, plastic cases that match, and are in "Federation" style.

UK/Australia TNG Covers

UK/Australia DS9 Covers

UK Voyager cover

Pretty cool, huh? The UK are currently selling the TNG ones at 52% off! (£39.99 or about $72 US or $96 Australian - but it actually works out at about 6-7 dollars less, because they subtract their domestic sales tax).

Hopefully DS9 will be next to be discounted.
Anyways, I'm off topic, but I thought it would be fun to share these covers.

Wow, those are awesome! Way better than the US ones, esp. for Voyager... and cheaper too. But I'm guessing they aren't Region 1. Oh well. I'll get them sometime. Luckily I'm not a big DS9 fan, so I won't have to make a purchase for that series. But yeah, we're way off topic. lol
