I READ you post, you need to UNDERSTAND what I MEAN which was that Burton is expected to cast Johnny Depp.
And there's ARTICALS saying he"ll be the Mad Hatter.

First of all, use a dictionary.

There are no such things as "artacals". It's articles.

And there was one article, which was published by The Sun. The Sun is a bit notorious for publishing inaccurate news.

It's interesting that Depp would be cast as a relatively minor player. The Hatter has a much smaller role than the Cheshire Cat, for example. Then again, he would be perfect for the Hatter!

Going purely by 'Burton regulars' I could easily imagine Jack Nicholson as the Cheshire Cat, which would be absolutely marvelous, though that's probably not going to happen. Christopher Lee needs to be in it of course, he's always been a favorite of mine. The Caterpillar, perhaps?

I am such a fan of Tim Burton! He is so macabre and I love his sinister creativity. And if Johnny Depp stars in it, It will be even more of a success. He is so versatile as an actor and so good at what he does, you can see why Burton choices him for alot of his films. This movie will be so surreal and bizarre I'm gonna love it! :D

Contrary to my previous post, I've thought of one man who would be more appropriate for the Hatter than Johnny Depp: Tom Baker.

The Sun is "reporting" that Matt Lucas has been cast to play both Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sh ... 645455.ece

Now, I take everything The Sun says with a huge barrel of salt, so I won't believe this (or the Johnny Depp rumor) until it's announced by either Disney itself or a reliable cast or crew member.

That said, if it turns out to be true, I'm not really sure what to think. On one hand, I think Lucas would play the Tweedles perfectly, and I would love to see them actually look alike for once. Live-action Alice films tend to cast two different actors as the Tweedles rather than using actual twins or doubling one actor.

On the other hand, such a casting choice means that this film is combining Wonderland and Looking like 95% of Alice films do. I really didn't want that to happen since it's been done to death, and I was hoping Tim may want to do Looking Glass as a separate sequel. I realize that's a pipe dream since the only sequel Tim has done is Batman Returns, and that was only because he wasn't that satisfied with how the first one turned out. That's also why he didn't bother with adapting Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator since he was pretty pleased with how Chocolate Factory turned out and felt ready to move on.

I'm surprised no one brought this up.

From Ultimate Disney
Alice in Wonderland - Tim Burton practically started his movie career at Disney. In his early twenties, he worked on The Fox and the Hound before helming the short films Vincent and Frankenweenie. He went onto bigger and, many would argue, better things, earning a reputation for dark, imaginative works like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and two blockbuster Batman movies. In the early 1990s, Burton returned to Disney to produce The Nightmare Before Christmas, one of the best examples of a modern day cult classic. Soon after, he would also helm the Oscar-winning Ed Wood for Touchstone Pictures. In the years since, Burton has remained a free agent, moving from studio to studio, switching mediums and genres, but always retaining creative control and a distinctive style.

In November of 2007, Burton signed a deal to direct two Disney Digital 3-D projects. First up is a live-action/motion-capture/CGI adaptation of Lewis Carroll's most famous story. It seems like an apt fit, based on the trippy source material and Burton's penchant for trippy material. Of course, Disney fans will be judging the project next to Walt Disney's 1951 animated film, which today is regarded highly. Eighteen-year-old Australian girl Mia Wasikowska (HBO's "In Treatment") has been cast in the coveted title role, while "Little Britain" co-creator/performer Matt Lucas has signed onto portray both Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Burton has confirmed his frequent leading man, Johnny Depp, will have a role here, which is rumored to be the Mad Hatter. Perhaps the only casting less surprising would be news of Helena Bonham Carter trying her hand at the Queen of Hearts. Production has begun in England and Disney has pegged the film for a March 5, 2010 theatrical release, which will include Disney Digital 3-D engagements.

Yay, I'm excited!! I come back to UD to hear some excellent news! :)

After his take of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which I do NOT see as a remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory), I can see great things coming from this. The colors and art direction of Charlie was so stunning and perfect. Wardrobe too. I can't wait to see what he does with Alice. I have a feeling it will be the best adaptation of Alice to movie screens ever.

Well, I've already posted about Mia and Matt as Alice and the Tweedles, respectively. The only part of that that's new to me is Burton's confirmation that Depp will be in it. I knew it was rumored, but I never heard Tim actually come out and say that Johnny would be in this. I'm really hoping for him to be the Mad Hatter. I wish Disney would just come out, already, and give a press release that reveals the entire cast. Besides who's playing who, I'm most interested in knowing what other Looking Glass characters are being added to this now that we know it's not a straight Wonderland adaptation.

Oooo, if Johnny and Helena act as well as they did in ST, this movie should totally awesome. Im not too sure about Mia though..... doesnt look like an Alice and looks really old.

Okay, so it has been confirmed that Johnny Depp will be in it? Great!

I'm sure that with Tim Burton directing the film it's gonna be good, but after finishing the book recently, I'm curious to know whether he's gonna follow more closely to the book(s) or if it's just gonna be a live-action rehash of the 1951 film.
