I'm just wanted to say that even though Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale, it is set in 14th Century Medieval England (well, presumably England). So fairy tales can be set in real times and places and still have made up elements like fairies and dragons.
And let's take a look at Cinderella, which might just be set in France during the 1800's (they mentioned the architecture being based of King Louis XIV...or XVII, some King of France). It is the story of a commoner marrying a Royal. That would certainly cause a raucous in real life, don't you think? Disney tries to say it doesn't matter who you are, you can fall in love with whoever you want (as long as you're a man and a woman, so they don't still ignore gay couples).

Just to bring the focus back to "The Frog Princess", it has been confirmed by E! that Anika Noni Rose will voice the lead character "Maddy" in the film.

I'm glad they chose her over the overrated Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys.

Wow, good find!! That is really awesome news, she has both a great speaking voice and an great singing voice. I think she will be great for the part. I am so excited for this film.

Amazing news!! That's really great. I like her soft voice that is pretty strong when she sings, but there still is a bit of a girl thing in her voice which, I think is just perfect for the part of a Disney princess, since they all are not like real women, but older girls. I wanted Anika Noni Rose to get the part, so I'm really glad she did.

So it will be The Princess AND the frog!!! That's what I call good news;this could mean that the princess and the frog won't be the same person.

SQUEE! I love Anika! This makes me look forward to the movie even more!
And thank GOD they didn't go with Alicia Keys. I have nothing against her, but... I can't see that working well.

a)NEW ORLEANSOUILLE
b)THE BLACK PRINCESS
c)VOODOSVILLE
d)PRINCESS BAYOU
e)THE ADVENTURES OF MADDY

People might think it's a sequel to
The Black Cauldron and stay away from it since they only heard the first one wasn't too good?

I think I liked the "Frog Princess" title more than "the Princess and the Frog", the new title doesn't flow right to me.

Well, for one, I'm going to assume that the main point of the story isn't that she's black, it's more about her character, some sort of frog aspect, and royalty. Two, it sounds like a cheesey blaxploitation title from the 70's. Three...it's just not that captivating of a title.

Oh, I LOVED Anika Noni Rose in Dreamgirls. I think she will make an excellent princess!
Is that title change thing from "Frog Princess" to "Princess and the Frog" a sure thing?

whats the fiddderence between a frog n a toad? i think a toad sounds nicer

then they can expand on two franchises, disney's princess and disney toads/frogs.
