I mean, talk about taking advantage of the animation medium. Vibrant colors, gorgeous lightening, beautiful shots. Why didn't Frozen look like that? and what's sad, is that KFP came out 5 years ago!

It's always been a complaint of mine that the concept artwork always looks better than the actual film, and it does feel weird, because in Animation, they literally build the world! So I was kind of put off when I watched Frozen and the movie didn't look nearly as good as the concept art. Compared to KFP, that looks absolutely gorgeous.

too much silly Jack Black panda slapstick ruined that movie for me(the story should have been about the F5 instead). I agree it was very pretty though...

taei, I agree about KFP. It and KFP2 are the most beautiful 3D films I've seen, personally, and that's a large reason why I love that franchise (and why I'm excited they plan to have up to 4 more sequels! ). Frozen is a pretty movie, but I agree--the concept art is usually not equalled in most 3D films. Which is why I prefer 2D, medium-wise.

I'm glad Frozen is making more money than Tangled--it definitely deserves to rake in more than that movie. It's sad WIR did less.

I'm glad with the Golden Globes nominations; I haven't seen DM2, but I enjoyed The Croods and love Frozen, so good choices. I don't consider MU "snubbed" when, overall, it didn't deserve to be nominated. The fact that it's substandard and cliche-ridden stands out even worse since it's eternally tied to a great film like Monsters, Inc.

Finally saw it and it was a real, great, special winner. At first I hadn't liked the castle and crown designs, now I saw Arandelle and all it's costumes beautiful. The music was all over the place and not great for me, especially the troll song, but with two exceptions: the haunting opening choral voices and, of course, the fantastic, ultra cool let it go. Together, that song with the visuals just blows you away. I think Tangled has all good songs, but this song from Frozen blows them all out of the water. The characters were all pretty good, you really cared about them, Olaf wasn't annoying as I feared but funny, and Elsa is a fantastic, deep character. Her desire to protect people with her show of independence and making it on her own are amazing.

There's just one thing that really bugs me (aside from it not being called The Snow Queen or having the original character's names). It's that it's really, really random that Elsa has ice powers. Originally very early sneak peeks of the film made me think Elsa had ice powers while Anna had warm powers and they would battle it out. It would have made sense to me if magic ran in their family and something just made Elsa's powers fly out of control. But it makes no sense to me Elsa has such powers. I think a good idea would have been to use something from the original tale: a magical sprite/goblin/troll shatters a magic mirror into shards. One of the shards could go into Elsa, giving her powers. It's slightly like how Tangled did the drop from the sun that gave Rapunzel powers, but I think that should have been Mother Gothel as a witch making the magic flower anyway. ProfessorRatigan, you're idea was good too, but I like mine more and it's closer to the original tale.

Oh and at the end Anna should say "I love you too" after Elsa says "I love you". Also at the end, I'm glad I stuck around for the Easter egg. But can anyone remind me, did Tangled have an Easter egge after its credits?

I understand the rules regarding the Oscars, but I really feel bad for Christophe Beck because I really loved the score. I even love the a cappella choral pieces Vuelie and Heimr Àrnadalr. Of course, this is coming from a guy who sings in choir, but these two pieces are exactly why I especially enjoy singing pieces from the European countries.

But, of course, rules are rules, even if one person works on the score while the other (or, in Frozen's case, two others) work on the musical numbers.

I can see what you mean... "Yes, CL is a DAC, but it's CGI, so it's not tarnishing the reputation as much," says Disney fan community circa 2005? Because back then, we didn't know that CGI films would be the norm, and that Disney would make Disney fairytale films in CGI down the road...

What a pity that it's in Italian. But I've seen spots for that making off on the Norwegian Disney Channel, so I'll probably see it then.

But I liked what I saw.

I'm not sure if it's been posted here before, but the "Let it Go" youtube video has almost 6 million views, which to me seems really impressive. It's only been up for a week. (almost a million a day).




Also considering the facebook page only has 700k likes.



It seems while the facebook page is probably mostly disney fans (i'm sure this will change), the song/youtube video seems to have crossed over into the main stream, and people that may not be super disney fans, are liking it.

I'm now at home with a beautiful little baby boy.

No word if he has any ice powers or not.
