How long is it going to be till she stops picking on this movie for existing ? Disliking something is okay of course, but she's just being overall infinity and beyond annoying.

When she saw the movie did Elsa pop out of the screen and harm her with one of her ice spells or something ? Because she sure has a strong vendetta towards it.
I think because there was too much Olaf in the trailers, she pretty much decided, "You know what? I'm actually just going to not like it." And yet too much Johnny Depp in the trailers for Alice in Wonderland didn't stop her from liking it. :P

I know people have their own opinions and that's totally fine and I still haven't seen the vid or her reviews, but based on what I'm hearing... yeah she really just seems to just not want to like it regardless. I just hope she doesn't go all Confused Matthew and single it out by referencing it when reviewing future animated releases.

Ah I've been looking for this!! I am dying to get my hands on a copy. I think they're for sale in the UK? I wouldn't mind getting from this link but it doesn't look like they ship to the US...

I have seen the film and thought it was ok. It felt like nothing new or special though. The songs were ok, the backgrounds beautiful, and there were some nice special effects. But the way the characters move and look, aaargh. Are they not able to make at least a little bit of progress? The eyes still look dead and they still move like puppets. I hope Disney animation will change dramatically in the next few years, there is a whole new world waiting to be discovered and that is a world with different methods for creating the characters.

Yes, but they do ship to Malaysia -- and our very own Qindarka, on this forum, posts from Malaysia, does she not? That is, at least, what her profile states as her location.

I don't suppose Qindarka might be interesting is making a few pennies by selling these comics internationally on eBay?

... What? Is this a criticism of all CG animation or just what's Disney is doing? If it's the latter, can I ask for some examples? I believe this movie, more than any other Disney CG feature before, displays fluid character movement and even uses the heralded "squash and stretched" technique.

 Agreed, I think that's the best poster for Frozen. Also, just fyi in case you aren't aware - that same retailer has an entire "Disney Steelbook Collection" that just started a few months ago. http://www.zavvi.com/offers/steelbooks/ ... ction.list

I wanted to get it but according the site it already sold out! :(

 Don't get him started. I think it's very obvious that we're well past the "dead eyes" and plasticy CG look. Disney's definitely a front runner in human CG animation, as showcased in Frozen. Marky will most certainly never see past his blind dislike for CG animation.

Zavvi uses "Sold Out" for anything that hasn't gone live yet. It's really dumb, but trust me - they do it with every release. It'll be available for preorder sometime in the next couple weeks probably. Use the forums at hidefninja.com for the most updated news on steelbooks.

Now that the movie is out some Disney artists are sharing their work for the film on their websites. I think these concept arts by Minkyu Lee and Lisa Keene haven't been posted here. I find the pictures by Lisa Keene especially beautiful.

Seeing Lisa Keene's concepts, we still have some ways to go in CG. Those are what these movies should be looking like.
I'm not nearly as livid as Marky about CG, I have an equal love for just about every animation medium out there, but we can do better. We're getting there though, slowly but surely, little by little.

Whoops, I didn't realize this was a topic in the past.

Also, the Frozen soundtrack sold over 50k copies this week, jumping from #18 to #10 according to Hits Daily Double. Is that typical for a Disney soundtrack? I feel like that's really impressive.

Wow, Lisa's concepts are beautiful. And Minkyu's character designs are awesome. Don't forget that it's not easy translating a concept into a CGI production, as concepts have a painterly feel and to put that in a crisp and smooth CGI film needs a lot of time. But one day, hopefully with Moana or something we can see that. Like the backgrounds on The Princess and the Frog are just beautiful, and to put something like that in a CGI, of course not a flat surface but woth depth and proper lighting. Actually with Bolt they tried to do the backgrounds like that of an American painting and when I was watching it I didn't even realise it until closer inspection and watching the bonus features. With that technology enhanced and used much better who knows what they would do.
I love the character designs too. I think it would've been awesome if they stick with Kristoff having the hoodie and long cloak design as it would give the film a more cold feeling.

I think animation studios have some of the most greatest artists, they are amazing. :)

I think it's probably because he doesn't have an online presence. Whereas Jennifer Lee is very active online. Not that it matters all that much at the end of the day, especially if he doesn't care about the "fame". But fame and the internet go hand in hand these days, so it's no surprise that Jennifer seems to be getting more attention between the two of them.

Does Zavvi have a website for US customers? I'd like to get TLM, WIR, and Frozen steelbooks, but the only way I can think to do it now is wait until they're sold second-hand on Amazon for twice the original price (which is more than I'm willing to pay for Frozen and WIR, I'll be honest... With TLM, I usually have no limit. ).

I've never ordered from outside the country before, so not sure if I want to do that...

oh thanks! I like the Fantasia one too! Hope their shipping to the US isnt too pricey...

So Lisa is responsible for the gorgeous art nouveau look of Enchanted 2d scenes! She needs to release an artbook!

Amazingly, Zavvi ships straight to the US for just .99 GPB, which is just over $1.50. That's their "thing" - they ship for free anywhere in the UK, and really cheap everywhere else. So sign up on their website and order directly from them! No need to wait to buy it secondhand :D

Actually, she and 5 other Disney women are releasing LOVELY next summer, I believe. They had a kickstarter where you could get a copy signed by all 6 women for $25, and I was really happy to get to do that. I'm a big fan of Claire and Brittney Lee (her work on A Sister More Like Me is stunning). The book is all their own personal work, so i'm really excited to see these their work when they have complete artistic freedom. As the kickstarter says, this is mostly work from an art show they had in Paris. I'm really happy to see a bunch of my favorite Disney artists collaborating on this project.
