Saaaaay, wasn't the Jungle Book an extremely loose adaptation as well? I mean outside the character names, that didn't exactly stick with the story either.

You are right but people have gotten so used to Disney's adaption that its a non issue now. But just imagine if the Jungle Book was released today and people showed spoilers online how they basically threw out everything.

If they're calling it Frozen then whether it's a faithful adaptation or not is irrelevant. If they had kept the title of The Snow Queen, I would probably feel less accepting of all these changes, but as I see it, it's just a movie that was initially INSPIRED by the Andersen tale and has since taken on a life of it's own, and with a completely different title there is ZERO obligation to keep anything from the fairy tale in this movie.

^ so far as I'm aware, no, although the books come out Tuesday so not too much longer to wait at least. There is a tumblr user who got the books early who has very kindly been answering questions about them but I don't mind waiting to see for myself. I've been chomping at the bit to get them haha XD at this point I don't know how I'll survive the wait for the track list.

When I heard Idina's voice in Elsa I was like wow that is a good performance from a character like her. I can't wait.
Don't worry about the sneak preview thing, it was just the trailer we all have seen already.

As for the reactions... Well. nothing. Granted my theater only had like 20 people.. But still.. There were barely any laughs, compared to the movie. The only thing that I noticed was this kid (a boy!) who said he wanted to watch it because of Olaf.
Disney, release a trailer like the one above!!
I, honestly wasn't so lucky. For some reason (it was either the hard drive the movie came in or a screw-up with the cinema server), we got that comparatively stupid teaser instead. Fingers crossed it'll pop up in front of Gravity. You think there'd be quality assurance for this kind of thing, accuracy on new trailers.

As for me, there is something else i just can't wait to see : number and names of C.Beck's music tracks.
No one ever mention it, but the music is as important as the songs, to me anyway, even more important than the songs sometimes.
My hopes in mister Beck's work are so high... i want his music to be new, original, epic, grandiose, scary, mystic, romantic, magic, wintery, Disney type and full of moving and unforgettable clues and patterns...
He has the stressful role to give justice to all the sisters emotions and adventures, to the fantasy-action-humorous matters, to the already legendary big scenes : the dramatic prologue, the coronation, Elsa's exile, the wolfes, the chilling ending...
A music that would fit with the Lopez songs, too, that would use their melodies, and the sami traditionnal chant, too...
Well, i'm aiming too high, i know.
PS : It should'nt be so difficult after Tantgled's score. With the huge respect i have for mister Menken, except for a few moments, the music for Tangled was so bland.

It borrowed some episodes from the book and recombined/toned them down into the movie we got. It's a loose, lighter and inaccurate adaptation, but the basic bones of the story are present.
Frozen's basically just taking some vague concepts from the source material and making a princess movie because adding two princesses to the Princess franchise at once is far more interesting to Disney Consumer Products then "Young girl goes on an adventure to save a young boy that is her friend".

"A girl goes on a perilous journey through an inhospitable landscape to save the person she loves from the Snow Queen while having various encounters along the way." There you go. Everything can fit that mold if you simplify it enough.

I love how Tangled has details from the original story, like the mother pretending to be Rapunzel and the attacking/killing the guy, until he is saved by Rapunzel's tears (or his own tears, I don't remember, but tears were involved). Same with the haircut.
The Little Mermaid is another case. Although it's more accurate, the missing details are there somehow, like Eric marrying another woman, and the "bittersweet" ending with Ariel having to leave her family somehow.
I think Frozen will have these little details and, even though it could be a totally different story, it will keep some of the original details.

Pretty much. Frozen certainly isn't a faithful adaptation but at the very least it retains some of the main themes from the source which is more than cam be said about several other adaptations. Was surprised from the spoilers that Elsa adhered to the Kai role more closely than I thought she would.

Yeah, Elsa is the result of when the Snow Queen and Kai did a Fusion-ha dance.

Also people keep on saying that Kristoff is Kai's counterpart when he really is a male version of the robber girl. I mean if one remembers how the robber girl helped Gerda on her journey then remember what Kristoff volunteered to help Anna.
