Two random things regarding the movie:
1. If you stop to think about it... Ursula might have killed Ariel in an instant. When she transformed her into human and she´s drowning she just stayed there laughing. If it wasn´t for Flounder she would have drowned.
...on the other hand, she had to save her. Otherwise, how would she accomplish her goal if Ariel have died there?
This one is a very kinky/twisted observation...but bare with me.
2. Remember the part when once Ariel is transformed Sebastian is explaining Scuttle the whole situation. Well, when he thinks of Triton he gets really scared (trembling, eyes wide open and even screamed). But, no one else noticed what happened just before his reaction?
Ariel spreads her legs and prepares to stand up.
...so it seems as Sebastian´s reaction has to do with the fact that he saw what he saw (no need to be specific).

It's so awesome to finally own my favorite Disney film on Blu (especially in 3D)! If it weren't for the scene swapping this would be perfect. Hopefully enough people will complain and they'll issue a replacement disc like they did with Pinocchio. Now, bring on 101 Dalmatians and Aladdin on Blu! I really hope Aladdin gets the home 3D treatment.

Yes yes yes!
I really enjoyed the supplement they added about Howard Ashman.. I honestly got a bit choked up when Musker did the same. It was a nice tribute that would have been even nicer had they provided a version that was only his speech. I think Carly Rae was honestly terrible and it was definitely a missed opportunity using the Frozen teaser rather than the actual trailer. I also wish they would have taken the time to include the gallery.. otherwise I'm really, really happy with this release.
Any word on a trilogy release or are we still only looking at the sequel combo pack?

It may just be me, but I really don't see the mistakes as that big of a deal. This is one of my favourite Disney movies, but I couldn't really tell that anything was wrong.

It's really more the principal of the thing. Yeah, it doesn't make much difference (if any) in the watching and enjoying of the film. But they made a mistake, so they ought to fix it. Simple as that.

Okay, I watched the my honest thoughts on the Blu-ray after watching it...
The movie looks and sounds amazing on Blu-ray. It's probably my TV, but some scenes (particularly the scene where Ursula takes Ariel's voice) seemed pretty close to the Platinum DVD.
Oh, and by the way, Ashley Tisdale's 'Kiss the Girl' music video IS present on the Blu-ray.

I think this music video might be the most disturbing pop renditions from The Little Mermaid

Has the DVDizzy review been linked yet?
It's up. I'm glad it was posted before I went out and bought it.

Now Cogsworth and Flounder look utterly
fascinated by these bubbles floating up the slipcover.
Which is a step up, I guess.

The errors, to me, are small and I can live with them. In fact, most of them probably would have gone unnoticed by me, and I thought I knew this movie forwards and backwards. I do wish, however, that Disney had triple checked before allowing the discs to be pressed with an incorrect master, and there attitude about their mistake burns me up. But I'm going to enjoy the film anyway. I can see why others are upset, however.

Has anyone noticed that the first times Ariel´s on screen (when she´s exploring the sunken ship) her hair stands out? Like it´s placed over the background.
Also, I´ve got to say the restoration didn´t impress me.
Don´t get me wrong. I´m all in favor of preserving the film as it was (grain included); in fact, that´s part of its charm. Still, every single film I´ve watched before this one I could tell instantly the restoration.

What a wonderful review; a pleasure to read
(And I agree on pretty much everything he says as well).

Can someone tell me what the difference was in the opening scene of Tour of the Kingdom? I didn't notice anything other than perhaps a color correction...
Edit: Never mind, I saw it. Grimsby's hand over Carlotta's ass.

Interview with Jodi:

That last part sums up really what a user said on here about her giving up the voice of Ariel now and move on .... Love her.

Isn´t it weird how easily Ursula handles the trident? Seems so natural that it is as if she was meant to have it.
BTW, love the scene when she´s turning into a giant and we get to see how scared are Flounder and Sebastian. Does feel like "This is it. We´re doomed."

No, I mean on the original cover he was making goo-goo eyes at Belle and the Beast then.

For anyone who wouldn't mind checking out an unofficial commentary, The Three CommentEARS has released a commentary for
The Little Mermaid.
You can listen to the streaming version here:
http://fromscreentotheme.com/ThreeComme ... rmaid.aspx
Or download the MP3 here: (right-click, save-as)
http://www.fromscreentotheme.com/The%20 ... ermaid.mp3
Since the syncing for this commentary is not reliant upon the "Walt Disney Presents" title card, make sure to begin the commentary when Prince Eric's ship breaks through the mist. On the VHS and DVD, it occurs about 43 seconds into the film, but on the Blu-Ray (with the newfangled HD Disney logo), it'll occur even later.
Enjoy!

Albert (and for any longtime UDers, I make a confession towards the end that changes my stance on the film when compared to seven years ago)

He/she is speaking for himself/herself. Why don't you do the same?
It's obvious that the changes aren't nearly as bad as some (you) make them out to be -- even among die-hard Disney fans on this board, myself included.

I think she knew that Flounder and Sebastian where there and she was just teasing/ not really giving a toss; laughing at her naivety.
