Okay, I'm really starting to lobby for a forum rule that states anyone who resurrects this thread without posting any news will be immediately banned. Who's with me? :P

That seems a bit strong, but perhaps it should only be brought back from the depths again if someone has news. Let's assume that if someone DOES have news, they'll post, and agree that it's pointless to post just to ASK if someone has news, hmm?

I am! They should also be forced to choose a member of their family, who will be shot! Yet again I got excited for nothing!

I just e-mailed Disney to request that they release this DVD even if it is only a theme park exclusive. I reccomend that other people write to them as well, seeing as they count every one e-mail as 100 people who feel the same way you do. If 20 of you write, than they considder that to be 2,000 people who want to buy this DVD and maybe we can get them to release it in some way, shape, or form.

What about Luke just locks the thread until he actually has news? That way nobody new can bump it up to ask "any news?" and raise all our hopes that something newsworthy has just happened...

At this point, if you're going to have to go to Disneyland or Disneyworld to get it, you might as well film your OWN DVD!! Jeez!!!!

Yeah, I'm not going with this plan because I never know when I'll have my next trip. I would like to at least go once a year to WDW, but I'm not at that point yet financially, so... I need DVD releases that I can get at Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy, nothing less...

But theme park exclusive items always appear at online retailers and ebay for not much more than they cost in the park. For example, you can buy the Wishes soundtrack on amazon.com, and that's a park exclusive cd.

Not to be combative, but this IS a discussion group. If you don't want to discuss it - don't.

This is not a NEWS page, its a DISCUSSION GROUP.

I know that it is frustrating - i'm frustrated that its not out too, but you never know when you might get an answer.

Luke knows a lot of people want information on this title, so he'll bump it up when he has news. Otherwise, don't bother bumping up with an "any news yet?" posts as it gets people's hopes up and they come here only to be disappointed.

This *is* a discussion board, but at the same time, this thread and many others serve as a news thread for those who don't visit (or don't know about) the main page. We can discuss the Secrets DVD, but just to bump it up less than a month later to ask "any news yet?" is unnecessary unless there truly is something to share.

As frustrating as it can be to see this thread bumped to merely ask "Has anyone heard anything", it's really the only place on the Internet that is devoted to civilly discussing this DVD that a lot of people have interest in. So I'm definitely not going to lock it. I'd hate for us to just forget about this one, as Disney seems to have done.

Anyway, I sent an e-mail to the source who informed me this disc was back on the schedule. I haven't heard from him, nor do I expect to, based on his recent non-responsiveness. Looking back at the original words, I was told that this would announce in the fall. We have a little over a month for that to be accurate, and I'm not holding my breath, since the rest of 2006 seems accounted for and this would make an odd winter release. (Though at this point, it will be odd in any way, with the 50th anniversary celebrations wrapped up and no other similar DVDs by its side.) With the "Your Host, Walt Disney" Treasure said to contain an interview with Diane Disney Miller and a rare film created for Radio City Music Hall, I'm worrying that content announced for Secrets, Stories & Magic may be slipping out onto other DVDs, implying that this project is 86ed, despite the relatively recent and authoritative news to the contrary. Still, I just can't see Disney having a feature-length documentary go to waste, especially considering the intensity with which we're all anticipating it.

If Disney keeps pushing back this DVD, the sheer number of delays is going to rival Duke Nukem Forever.

Yeah, but if they had it ready for Theme Park (or Disney Club) release, then there would be no reason not to give it a wide release. And when you don't use credit cards, as I don't, buying online is a pain in the butt.

THANKS LUKE! I appreciate the update, although its not what I wanted to hear. It would make sense to just put it out at this point but who knows what they were thinking.

I was shocked that it was announced in the first place.

Thanks again!

One thing is, this was originally to be part of the disneyland 50th anniversary celebration, and that celebration is now over and they have moved on to the year of a million dreams celebration. I'm not saying this won't see the light of day, but it doesn't fit now with the original plan. I wonder if the decision to release the disneyland sing along songs on dvd had anything to do with it. That would be a shame, because it was sort of a joke to just put that almost 20-year-old vhs title on dvd - there must be a dozen attractions on that thing that are closed now. Not to mention all the 80's hair and clothes.

I am really excited to pick up this DVD, if it ever comes out. I can never make it to Disney World quite as much as I want to, but this DVD might be able to hold me over in all of the meantimes. Granted, seeing the parks on DVD just get mre more excited and make me want to go even more, but it's better than nothing.

I highly reccomend checking out the History Channel's DVD of an episode of Modern Marvels solely devoted to Disney World, Simba3. It's a great DVD with lots of information not generally known by people who don't work there, and even some that employees probably wouldn't know.
