Thanks, ichabod! I'm really looking forward to seeing Inside Walt's Story Meetings, Disney Time Capsule, The Making of Bambi, and the deleted scenes.

And about the discs? see this pic UK is definatly having the 2 discs and as far for the netherlands: they do everything the uk does so i bet we'll get it to. Because they know that other wise we'll burry them. Ooh and for al you dtch people Alice in wonderland has a 2 discs ad on freerecordshop.nl check under pre-order!
Very nice one!!!
I prefer this instead of the US one.
But, somebody knows if it´s gonna be a "Premium" pack or something like it as they did with The Lion King and The 3 Musketeers

I still think the extras sound a bit childish, but let's wait and see. The Making of sounds lenghty, but I'm worried about the "art gallery" (is it going to be "Alice in Wonderland" all over again?!)

Thanks for the specs list, Ichabod. It seems Disney's changed the "making of" title (it used to be called "The Original Circle of Life"), which is a good thing. I trust it'll be a good length if it's being comprised of 6 featurettes; usually the Platinum documentaries are 50 minutes or more. I hope there are more deleted scenes on the DVD than just those because I've read about some pretty morbid scenes getting cut out of the final film pretty late in production (such as the death of Thumper) that I'd absolutely love to see. Hopefully Disney won't chicken out of presenting these. I know that that specs list isn't completely detailed, but it bugs me to not see trailers or commentary listed. Still, there doesn't seem to be as much kiddie features on this as usual (that is, until Disney announces the inevitable virtual forest hunt that Patrick wisely forsaw).

For once, I'm not really warming to the foreign cover art. The Brits are apparently getting the "floating head syndrome" on their cover, and it's quite a pet peeve of mine when it comes to promotional art. Plus the secondary characters are all just stuffed down into the bottom right corner - if they have to be there, at least space 'em out a bit! I mean, all of them even have various bits
cropped off, they're so cramped. O_o
The only thing I
do like about the cover is the title logo. It's very well-themed, and more "festive" and creative than the black block we're getting in the U.S.

I do like how they redrew Bambi ever so slightly on the revised U.S. cover; now it at least looks like they care a teensy bit about the disc, instead of just recycling old Masterpiece Collection art. >_<

With new scenes being shoved into
Bedknobs and Broomsticks and
The Lion King, they could do the same with
Bambi with the external fate of the rabbit. Forget the moniker "Platinum Edition"...call it "Morbid Edition"...

BBFC ratings:
BAMBI - EXTRA DVD BONUS COMPILATION
01:10:24:22 | INSIDE WALT'S STORY MEETING - ANNOTATED
00:00:55:00 | DISC 2 PREVIEW
That's right - Walt's Story Meeting runs for a gob-smacking 1 hour and 10 minutes!

Well I suspected that might be a meaty feature. At 70 minutes, it is as long as the feature, and is almost as good as a commentary track by Walt himself.
Combined with that other making of series of featurettes, it looks like it could still be an OK disc. Just don't think they'll ever top Snow White.

Hmm, I wonder if "Walt's Annotated Story Meetings" is going to be like a video commentary or just an audio commentary... By the way, since we are getting it, are we going to get the "traditional" audio commentary track as well?

I did think this, but according to the IMDB, Bambi is 70 mins, which with PAL speed-up would be about 67-68 mins. So I don't think its a commentary track.

I prefer the Uk one, I find the US one just to simple for a platinum edition. The ones for alladin and The lion king much more beautiful.
Alright the one bad thing about the uk one is the floting head.

At DDB, Jens wrote:* The Old Mill – An animated short from 1937 that has been cited as one of the influences for the Bambi artists.

YAY! Finally they are including classic "related" Disney shorts on their DVDs! I was wondering why they stopped showing up. There surely are a great deal of Silly Symphonies and Mickey Mouse B&W/colorized shorts that could've been on BatB, TLK and Aladdin.
At DDB, Jens also wrote:* Disney Time Capsule – A journey back to 1942 to see what the world and the Walt Disney Studio was then like
* Tricks of the Trade – A behind the scenes look at the animation tricks of the trade, filmed in 1957 and hosted by Walt Disney.
The Time capsule segement seems interesting. I liked the one they put on Snow White that played before the different decade trailers. I hope they'll include trailers too for Bambi!
Also...How many Tricks of the Trade episodes were there? These segments seems to appear on many of the classic features DVDs.

Well, segments from the same episode has appeared on three different DVDs, I believe. Not sure if there are others, but that one has turned on up Snow White, Mickey Mouse in Living Color Vol. 2, and in full on Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studio.
