I just finished the new Nicholas Sparks book, "True Believer". A bit different than most of his novels, it's more of a mystery/light romance, but I still had a hard time putting the book down.

Right now I am reading Red.
This is book number 2 of the trilogy, by Ted Dekker (1st-Black, 2nd-Red, 3rd-White).
A great book, and a really talented writer.

I'm currently reading Lady Thief by Kay Hooper, but I have on my list of reads... The Redwall Series, yes, I know it's written for "younger" people, but so is Harry Potter and I read that too! I'm just a big kid at heart.
Other reads on my list are a ton of books I got from book clubs way back and have never had time to read, but I have the whole summer off until next term, so I can read away!
Can't wait for July 16th, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince!

I've been reading the Elsie Dinsmore series, which are books written for Christian girls in the 1800s.
They get kinda dull after a while, so reading them has basically been a test of will power now...but that's okay.

There is no prob with liking Redwall, I am 18 and I still read them. I recently read the book Sentimental Journey a biography of Doris Day by Gary McGee. It was a very interesting book.

Cool. Who are some of your favorites?
My favorite actors are Clark Gable, Cary Grant and Errol Flynn. My favorite actresses are Joan Crawford, Judy Garland, Esther Williams, Doris Day, Ginger Rogers and Katharine Hepburn.
"Gone With the Wind" is my favorite movie of all time and "Singin' in teh Rain" is my favorite musical.

My top favorite movie star as many will tell you is Doris day. I own all 39/39 of her films, all 128 episodes of The Doris Day Show, and all 26 episodes of Doris Day Best Friends. A lot of her recordings, a bunch of origional movie posters from her films. And a lot of other memorbilia. I also like The Gabor Sisters, Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Ginger Rogers.

Wow! You are a big fan!
I've only seen "April in Paris." I thought the actual movie was okay, but that Doris Day was cool. She lives about an hour away from my house.

I'll have to see if my library has that, I'd like to read a bio on Doris Day, I read part of the bio, skipped parts, on the true story of The Sound of Music years and years ago, and a few years back I read the story of Fran Drescher (The Nanny), good book, very funny.

I'm also a huge fan of Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Katherin Hepburn, Rosemary Clooney, Rock Hudson... and so many more I can't think of!

Like I've said, I just read literary fiction. I do, however, have a guilty pleasure. I like fairy tales, but more importantly, I'm a devotee to fairy tale revisionism; the writing that reimagines classic or established stories and weaves them into something different for modern purposes, which are mostly political statements. The text I'm reading now is Gregory Maguire's
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. It's
very good. I'm fearing its conclusion, because I don't plan on reading anymore of Maguire's work. I can't stand the Snow White tale, and I've read that his adaptation isn't exactly an improvement either. His "origninal" novel doesn't appeal to me, so I'm going to be content with Confession of an Ugly Stepsister and Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

The Outsiders because I have to read it for school. It's okay. No Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket that's for sure but some parts were entertaining.

Does everything have to be brought down to the level of children's literature and fantasy?
The Outsiders is a great examination of suburban versus urban teens, not to mention a commentary of middle America. J.K. Rowling and Lemony Snicket were double the age of H.S. Hinton when they wrote the first entries of their series; in other words, that caliber work coming from a teenager is extraordinary, and important no less.

Um...I just finished reading Ender's Game. It was really good. I liked better than I thought I would because I usually dont get into sci-fi books like that. I think there is a second one. Its a really good book and everyone should check it out!
