Why is her mouth so wide? She’s a butt ugly character.

I hadn't thought of it until now, but this is one of PIXAR's only films that is this dominated by female characters. The main character, her three friends, and her mother seem nearly all the important characters. A nice change of pace for them. Looking at the voice cast on Wikipedia, the only crucial male character looks like a boy the main character crushes on; I'm guessing her father and grandmother are mostly background characters. Brave and Inside Out were the best they had before now and it was mostly just the two leads (well, there was also the Witch in Brave and then Disgust and Riley in Inside Out--but that still wasn't the "vast majority" with those two since there were Fergus, the triplets, the three love interests and their fathers, Mordu, Anger, Fear, Bing Bong, Riley's father).

I personally like this aesthetic, it's not too different from Luca. Both of them remind me of a mixture between Ghibli and Aardman. I would like if most of their films kept that style going, tbh. I wish WDAS would become more adventuresome with their aesthetic again now Lasseter's gone. Something like Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Atlantis, Hercules, Mulan, etc. At least a little touch of difference like with Aladdin or the Mary Blair-influenced films would be nice over the bland live-action re-creation backgrounds all 3D films have these days.

Yes, it is just Red here. I guess the original title in English would've been difficult to understand to the average Spanish person, but most people here probably know what "red" means. They could've translated the title into Spanish, but the double meaning would be lost, since we use different verbs for each meaning. To blush would be "ponerse rojo" in Spanish and turning into a red creature "volverse rojo", so it doesn't completely work here. Maybe something similar happens in other languages because I've seen it's called just Red in several European countries.

I think the two blond boy band members look too similar. They should have given one of them a more distinctive hairstyle or different hair color. The Asian one could have had pink hair instead, for example.

I'm looking forward to listening to their songs. With Strange World not being a musical, Turning Red seems to be Disney's best bet for an Oscar nomination in the song category this year. I suppose, it also depends on whether they qualify Pinocchio and Disenchanted for the Oscars or whether they decide to submit them to the Emmys instead.

I hope they qualify both films for the Oscars, especially Disenchanted. But yes, I agree Turning Red seems to be one of the films from Disney with a higher chance of getting a nomination in the category next awards season.

I saw it a long time ago. I didn't remember it was also something hereditary in Teen Wolf. They probably not only draw inspiration from Hulk for Turning Red, but also from that movie.

Yeah, I remember being surprised by that too when I watched it, but I saw it just once, maybe 15 years or so ago, and I had completely forgotten about that part. When I watched the clip you posted, it came back to me. Come to think of it, there are some other similarities between that movie and Turning Red, like for example, the fact that part of the story also takes place at school. And judging by some of the images we've seen, it looks like Mei, like Michael J. Fox's character, will also stop hiding the fact she transforms into a beast at some point and will be popular, or at least accepted by everyone, in her panda form.

The title of the first song is "1 True Love". You mistook the number "1" for the word "I", right? The same happened to me at first. I think it's the font coupled with the small size what makes it look almost like an "I" there.

By the way, regarding the Spanish title, I forgot to add that while I understand why they chose it, I wish they had come up with something more interesting or clever like the French title, for instance, which is "Alerte Rouge" (Red Alert).

I can't wait to see this. I love the marketing they're doing and it looks amazing and I am 1000% the target audience for this (I mean, it's for everyone, but I feel that Mei (+ her friends) is the spirit animal of us millennial boy band fans who like cute fluffy things.)

This is the best trailer so far. It looks really cute and sweet. It's surprising how much anime/manga-inspired it is. I think it will encapsulate well the struggles girls go through at that age. I'm glad the film will explore Mei's relationship with her dad too. Their family dynamic seems similar to the one in Brave. The part where Mei's trying to divorce herself from her red panda form piqued my interest. I wonder what the repercussions of that will be.
