I grabbed it, then walked around the store to look what blu-rays were marked down. Then I overheard a little girl walk up to the display excited to see that you could get a free Dumbo toy, but then her mom walked up and saw they were all gone. I saw how dissapointed the little girl was and my heart kinda melted so I gave her mine since the mom was going to purchase the movie.
Now your other post makes perfect sense lol. Sorry I read the other part on my phone and I see where you went with it. I would have did the same thing!
You can also get the plush on the movie rewards. it looks like the same one.

Anyways, having not watched the movie in ages, I kind of felt that they could have made the movie a bit longer. I mean, the sixty-four minute runtime seems quite short when you think about it. Surely, I'm not the only one who thinks so...
I agree with Victurtle. Not to mention, you have to look at this from a historical stand-point as well. Disney had just experienced a massive flop with Fantasia, so Dumbo was done cheaply, so the studio could have an easily profitable film for next time (Walt Disney definitely had money and profit on his mind, despite the amount of people here who think otherwise). Notice how the rest of the 1940's features are also on the short side? There was also an animator's strike going on outside that didn't help matters much.
However, despite these pitfalls, they still managed to make a very endearing animated feature that has the perfect length. Personally, I can't stand when filmmakers have the perfect shot to end on, but then continue on for some un-necessary scenes that add nothing. One of the strongest attributes of the directors at the Disney Studios was they knew when to end a film, no matter what the running time.

I ended up paying around ~$10 for this, as my friend works at Best Buy and got me a discount. While the extras are a little skimpy (nothing is really of substance outside the new doc and the wonderful gallery), the presentation of the movie is top-notch and that’s really what matters. The menu is hideous though, crappy CG background with cutout 2D characters (just like Beauty and the Beast’s menu).
As far as making the movie longer, no please. If anything, it needed to be shorter. There was about enough material there for a two-reel Silly Symphony and they had to add a lot of noticeable fluff to stretch it to feature length.

I finally just got my copy today, but I'm not sure if I'll watch it tonight or wait until tomorrow night.

Can someone tell me how long these editions are available with slipcovers?
I am visiting Florida next month and hope to get some Disney Classics, still with their slipcovers...if they sell out/disappear quickly from stores I might order them now from Amazon and hope to receive them with sleeves.

After reading the review (great job, by the way!) and seeing the screen cap comparisons, I am much more inclined to purchase this. The picture quality looks much much better than the previously released DVDs. It's still not one of my favorite films but I will certainly pick it up whenever I get some extra cash.

Finally got around to watching! The restoration on the DVD is gorgeous, I can't wait to see how beautiful it is on Blu-ray! (I am a university student whose laptop can only play DVDs lol, but my parents have a Blu-ray player at home!)
It had been a few years since I'd last seen Dumbo but I was amazed how much it emotionally affected me. Practically every scene between he and Mrs. Jumbo made me tear up, and I honestly lost it during Baby Mine haha.
