I'd beg to differ. Disney pressurized Pixar into making Cars 2 and that movie's so far been the exception; not the rule. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but to me-and apparently Pixar, and many big name critics-TS2 and 3 were every bit as good as the original.

We havent really seen anything of Monsters' University, and coming from me-the skeptic on all things franchising-I think you're being unduly harsh in your judgement of the movie when we havent even seen more than a couple model renderings and some concept art.

I don't believe those "pressure" rumours. I've read a lot of times that Pixar made monsters uni and ts3 (which I loved) because there were some legsl obligation from when Disney had started making sequels for nearly every Pixar movie. Cars 2 was just something Lasseter wanted.

That is very true. Lasseter debunked the rumors that Disney pressured Pixar into making another Cars feature in many interviews. Lasseter also explained multiple times that inspiration for Cars 2 came from his own experiences when doing press junkets all over the world for Pixar's films. Both the first and the second Cars are based on Lasseter's concepts and ideas. The Cars universe is his pet project.

Those are my thoughts exactly as well. He's the only one with some creative clout that honestly seems to still be pushing for more Cars stuff.

Planes is Disney's influence since Pixar isn't even that involved with making it.

basically, all of what I quoted. I dont obsess over these boards, so I didnt hear it. And also John is corporate now, so he might have a gun at his back with half the things he says, though you're explanation makes sense.

either way, my original point still stands. so far 1/4 sequels were generally ill-received, making cars 2 the exception. I'll take that back if MU is a bombshell.

This website is usually a good indication of what trailers are coming out very soon and it looks we will get our first glimpse of Monsters University in the coming weeks. I imagine it will play in front of Brave.

It definitely didn't play in front of the screening I saw in Australia (from memory, the only animated film they showed a preview for was Ice Age 4 and Madagascar 3). I was disappointed because I thought at the very least there would've been one for Wreck-It Ralph.

I actually really enjoyed that! Great animation and just great gags! I think this is better than the Brave trailers personally! Sully's fur animation looks great! (it kinda looks like the blue has become more blue/green but it may just be me )
