I thought they announced when each was going to go on moratorium. Should I just assume that all platinums have a 10 year or does it vary from dvd to dvd?

Welcom to the forums, ojready! :eye:  I've greeted so many people today, I'm running out of original things to say. I hope you have fun posting here!

EDIT:I don't think it varies from DVD to DVD. I think all Platinums have a ten year period before they are rereleased.

Here is the oop list on this site.

Disney doesn't know when other DVDs are going out of print as I wrote to ask them recently.

Well for the platinums, theres a pattern to when they go out of print. And I think its like a seven year moratorium now, not too sure. Because people say Snow white will be rereleased in 2008, which is seven years after 2001.

Welcome to the forum, ojready!

The Platinums were originally going out of print for 10, then it was changed to five in May 2003. I think that if a high definition video format catches on, the moratoriums will probably go out the window the way they sometimes have in the past (for instance, the <i>Toy Story</i> movies). Disney likes to change plans depending on what best suits them in the now.

I must add that it makes me proud when two people quickly refer to an off-forum UD page! :float:

Ah but you are still you still young Alan, you have many video buying years ahead of you. :)

It's not the quantity but the quality.

I didn't know that people who knew people who made $1000 a day would be considered poor. ;)

And like orestes said, it's the quality, not the quantity of the movies, though ojready has a good deal of both (especially his Criterion Collection!).

Don't worry about Alan's " 'tude", ojready.

And everyone, let's all remember this:

Well, people who make $1000 a day may not be considered poor, but we can at least verify that people with such high incomes may pad posts with rude comments and one line sentences.

Thank you for your 'tude Wonderlicious (sarcasm intended)

I never said I made 1000 dollars a day. I know people who make 1000 dollars a day. and please try to stay on topic wonderlicious...

I have all that Platinum DVDs except for snow white and beauty and the beast. I hope the snow white DVD is good when its rereleased.

Alan, I Think If They Re-Release The Snow White Platinum DVD In The Future It Will Be The Exact Same DVD With Some Changed Bonus Features.

I as well had contacted Disney on a number of dvds titles and if they were going into the vault. A representative told me they aren't sure which ones are going to be going into the vault yet. I think that's a last minute decision or no one will know until December of each year.

Or it's more likely they know, but they don't want to announce them until they're finalized. Disney (and other studios) plan things looooong in advance, but making their plans public is a final step. Otherwise, when plans change, like they did for the already-announced "Secrets, Stories & Magic" DVD, people get  (very mad)!

Do they put live action movies in the vault? I'm just wondering because all those movies are on sale at Best Buy. And a few other places I believe. It just doesn't make sense for them to make movies going into the vault on sale.
