This deleted scene proves that Arendelle was indeed supposed to be destroyed. I find this ending better than what was eventually in the film. It's more bittersweet, there's an actual sacrifice and Anna and Elsa actually talk about their separation and react to one another. It's such a shame that corporate decisions interfere with creative ones.

^ That was absolutely beautiful- it made me cry! It drives home, though, that Elsa was actually deprived of joy to control her powers. Just hearing her parents say that is heartbreaking.

Yeah, this deleted scene absolutely needed to remain in the film. The ending feels truncated enough and there's never any reason given as to why Elsa and Anna have to separate. For that matter, I'm still confused to this day about how/why Elsa freezes and if she really died or not.

Watching Frozen 2 for the second time:

Agnarr really didn't know his wife was the girl who saved him?! Then how'd they meet after that?!

My husband (after seeing it the first time said it's his favorite Disney movie) just said (we're at the part where Ryder & Honeymaren introduce themselves) that those two characters just disappear. He said, "I thought they were going to introduce new characters," meaning that they'd play a bigger part.

D82 posted that clip of Elsa revealing that the parents were going to tell Anna later a few pages ago.

JeanGreyForever, I totally agree about the ending feeling truncated and the confusion over what happened!

Yes blackcauldron85, this movie didn't do much with new characters!

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was already posted. I only just came across it.

I don't think it undoes that since Agnarr specifically say that he was afraid that Elsa would be joyous?!? which kind of contradicts the first film cause Anna's alienation was because they feared she would get hurt again, not because they feared Anna would make Elsa happy. However I do like that Anna gets the much needed appreciation because since her childhood she was sidelined.

There's a book coming in November that will explore that.

An exciting and romantic story, this will be a prequel to both Frozen and Frozen 2. The story of two teens—one learning what it means to be king while dealing with overwhelming odds, and one trying to survive with secrets that could lead to her doom in the world that is far different than her own—especially now that they have begun to fall in love.

I'm glad they released it, it's beautiful. Something about its haunting quality reminds me of the opening of Coraline when the Other Mother is sewing the doll alongside the credits.

Wow, she really made the song her own! It almost doesn't sound like it's the same song.

I guess the reasoning is to inspire many parents to subscribe to Disney+? :P I'm surprised they'd risk losing some money off of its home media releases to do that though.

I’m sure the thought process is that stores aren’t going to be selling many physical copies during this, and it’s also a tiny piece of marketing for the streaming service masquerading as supposed good will to cheer people up.

Oh, you're right, physical releases aren't sold in the same quantity they used to be. I need to get it in my head that most people don't buy films anymore the way I do. That's really weird to think about though.
