That's right. Unfortunately.

Im pretty sure that Frozen "concept" art was done after the look of the film was finalized, its just too close to the final product.
The clip of Maui went by way too fast, I really cant judge by that. The Moana in the still is cute, they are clearly still using the regular CGI Disney female template but with some changes to make her more ethnic.

That image was from a commercial for a behind-the scenes presentation of next year's Disney movies. I don't know the exact time this is airing so let's keep an eye out for it.
It was a commercial for Disney's Movie Surfers New Year Weekend special. I think they will have more of Moana. All I know is that Movie Suffers will be playing different BTS looks for all Disney movies of 2016 on New Year's weekend.

Well, that's a first. Considering that we got no clip from neither "Tangled" or "Frozen" this early. Perhaps Disney are finally understanding the meaning of promotion several months prior to the release? Hahahaha.
Either way, a cute clip.

You can watch the clip in question in HD,
here.
I love Moana's expression in these GIFs. It feels reminiscent of another Disney heroine's expression but I can't put my finger on it.

The first thing that came to mind was Ariel in
Return to the Sea, the scene when she turns into a mermaid again, but I doubt you were thinking of that.

The only other things coming to mind is Jane Porter when Tarzan comes to see her while her things are being packed on the ship or Mulan watching Shang walk away (before Mushu calls her on it).

I get a Pocahontas-vibe from that clip, though the comparisons to Nani are inevitable.

Without going into a more caricatured design, there really aren't that many expressions in the first place, I'm sure most characters have made that expression at one point or another.

I wonder if will be a legitimate challenger to "Moana". Due to the fact that Disney has redeemed themselves and Princess-movies being box office foolproof, I wonder how it will do against our Polynesian heroine.

Well that and DreamWork's crummy track record as of late . . .

Pity, it still doesn't have the organic feel that 2d character animation has. It still looks like rubber dolls moving in a strange kind of puppet-movement. The way the face moves, the way the eyes move, the disconnected/dead look in the eyes. It never seems to come really alive.

I'm sure the movie looks better on laserdisc.

Moana's cute, I'm getting a Pocahontas vibe from that clip but I think it's just because of her hair blowing in the wind haha.

I see Trolls preforming like Blue Sky's Peanuts: around $130 million domestic. But if it can preform domestically like The Croods/HttyD2 & Home: in the $180 million range, that would be good. I don't see this passing the "$200 million" mark. The last DreamWorks feature to do that was Kung-Fu Panda 1 in 2008, while 2009's Monsters Vs. Aliens missed it by just $2 million.
As for DreamWorks future their squeals "Croods 2 & HttyD3" will clearly make money, especially in the international markets, but their original features "Boss Baby & Larrikins" will be a tougher sell.

Can you explain what lame, inadequate dead-in-the-eye animation has to do with the kind of disc?

Not necessarily. Some of her facial features resemble Pocahontas'.
