It's possible. The Dutch version was meant to be an European premiere, so that version will probably also go to other countries. If I'm not mistaken the new version also recently premiered in Russia and Japan.

Hmm that is good to hear; would be lovely to finally see this at the west end. I'm totally slipping into fantasy now, but Sierra Boggess is always over here .... Would be lovely to see her originate Ariel on Broadway and the West end !!

I disagree. It looks like she's swimming through water, and it's much better than the rollerskates that they did before. Imo it looks beautiful.
She looks more like a mermaid, but her costume is awful in some of those shots, where she has that like lighter green stuff hanging from her torso.

Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King disagree with you.

I wasn't talking about BATB or TLK.

It's funny, you'd think Disney would have thought of creating a simple adaptation of TLM already, considering how cheap they are.

Maybe they're trying too hard to make Little Mermaid to be the next Lion King or something? Disney, is it that difficult to just go the simple route with Mermaid?

And what would this simple route everybody's talking about be?

Well, for instance, the merpeople costumes. They don't need to be as long as Rapunzel's hair.

Screw heeleys & flying wires. Forget Bride of Frankenstein wigs. Throw away garish mermaid costumes.
Give me actors in shoes, wearing simple mermaid-like dresses and plain wigs (to be fair, the original production got this right).

I agree with DisneyJedi that slightly less long (and somewhat not fish tail looking) costumes would be better, but not the original production's costumes where I agree with a critic that they looked not so much like mermaid tails but dresses with tails coming out of their butts.

0:58-1:20 Ariel looks like the spring sprite in Fantasia 2000!

There are now pictures on the official Paper Mill Playhouse Facebook page, click
here.
And there's now a video:

I now like Ariel's costume. I see how they made it like a tale in two ways, the long material on the sides, and the tail hanging down the front. But I don't like Triton's, and Urusla had a better tentacle costume in the original's Poor Unfortunate Souls scene! But thankfully Flounder, Sebastian, and Scuttle have better costumes! And the set looks so lovely! Much better than the original's! It has an impressive version of Eric's castle, and those bubbles are gorgeous

Well, I think a lot of aspects have been improved from the original, but I still don't care for Ariel floating around.....with her manic arm movements, it looks like she was having some sort of spasm?! Sierra got the mix just right; her arm movements and grace made me believe she was underwater..... Not swimming around like a loon!!

Well... at least they ditched the stupid pointy Frankenstein's Bride-like wigs.

I was hoping they'd have taken this opportunity to do a complete redesign of the show, but this just looks like a hodgepodge of the Broadway version (Some of the costumes are actually from the Broadway show) and the European version. Ariel sounds good, though a bit nervous singing while flying.

Meh

Okay, while Disney had the right idea in mind for The Little Mermaid to be a stage musical, the initial execution (Broadway) wasn't the right way to go.
What they're doing right now for the Paper Mill Playhouse production is exactly a major step in the right direction. I'd say the Netherlands, Japan and Russia productions looked like so as well, but I honestly can't get over how freakin' stupid the "underwater" wigs are. At least the Paper Mill Playhouse production fixed THAT problem.

Hey, does anybody speak Dutch or whatever language the musical was in when it was in the Netherlands?
Because I'd like to know what they were saying in this scene:

It's basically the finale, where Ursula is telling Ariel how evil Triton is for despising humans.
She then mistakenly says "Next you'll know it, he will even go as far as claiming the humans killed your mother"
Ariel reacts shocked: "If humans didn't kill my mother...THEN WHO DID??"
Ursula then makes up all these excuses about what could have killed Ariel's mother instead of humans (sharks, piranhas...)
But Ariel knows she is lying and demands to know the truth.
Ariel then angrily destroys Ursula's shell and Ursula is defeated.
Hope that helps.
