Exactly. In my opinion, we haven't had a good introductory/'Happy Village' song since Home on the Range. Welcome to Rosas is probably the worst one of its kind from the Revival and the weakest song from Wish out of the three we listened to so far.
Wow, I`m surprised to see some praise for
Home on the Range here! Due to it`s dud-staple, it`s pleasing and satisfying to see
some praise for it. And yes, I`ll admit it: I`m one of the minorities who liked it. No, I don`t think it`s the greatest animated offering ever made, but I still enjoyed it and didn`t thought it deserved the massive hate that it got.

The latest TV spot has a brief shot of Asha dressed as the fairy godmother trying to enchant a pumpkin…
There better be a contextual explanation for that.

I agree with PatrickvD on DeBose, she's great. I can hear a little DisneyJunior song in that, too, like DisneyFan09 and blackcauldron85, but I like what we heard of it. I think this one is a little better than "The Family Madrigal," but I liked "Some Things Never Change" better than these two; none of them are on level with "Belle," as said, but I still enjoy these kinds of opening songs, personally.
I was watching a clip the other day for the film. It had a shot from "This Wish," when Asha is in front of the willows looking up that looked gorgeous. I didn't care for the way the camera suddenly did a weird spin around her apropos of nothing, that was a little strange.

Saw it on Instagram but can’t find it now. Pretty sure it was real. Maybe a bit spoiler territory though. I’ll see if I can find it again.

New
promo that has some new footage from "Welcome to Rosas." Here's also the poster for the song:

I've noticed there are several references to past Disney movies in it. I've counted five, but maybe there are more. The previous song posters also featured hidden Easter eggs. Here they are if you want to check it:

Speaking of nods to classic Disney films, we can see Aurora's dress in the last Japanese poster:

In a previous
TV spot reee9948 posted, we can see that shot in widescreen, which gives us a little more context to the Fairy Godmother reference.

With Deadline Hollywood’s projections for it out today to debut with a $50M 3-day (unless they meant to say 5-day) debut (

), here’s Boxoffice PRO’s updated forecast and projections for the 3-day and 5-day opening weekend of Disney’s #Wish from Walt Disney Animation Studios, just less than 3 weeks out from its theatrical holiday release.
A tiny 7% drop in
Box Office Pro’s 3-day OW projections from last week (from $45-$65 to $40-$60M) and a 7% drop in BOP’s 5-day OW projections (from $64–94M to $57-$86.8M), along with the lower end of the range of its final domestic gross lowered from $185M to $165M, but the higher end of the range of its final domestic cume is still at $289M, so assuming it holds, it is projected that Wish will have a nice final domestic cume past $200M if it ends up right in the middle of those 2 numbers & ends its US run at $227M. (

,

)
Also, I should probably mention that the users on the Box Office Theory forums that #Wish is now at near $3M in presales, presumably for its Tuesday night opening shows (
https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/s/S1IrkF41z0), and should it continues growing and/or holding, depending on the critic reviews, audience response, etc., Wish’s 5-day debut could be as high as either Pixar’s #Coco or Walt Disney Animation Studios’ #Moana.
I guess we’ll soon see the clear picture in just 3 weeks, but, it’s clear with how much we’ve seen in ads and promotion #Wish that Disney has a box office winner on their hands w/ that movie compared to how less we’ve seen from Marvel Studios’ #TheMarvels, which to me is a big indicator of that film bein’ a box office dud, sadly.
Oh well. Guess this is what happens when you ask Disney to give their animated films more marketing and more attention, especially since this film is the big finale for the celebration of Disney’s 100th Anniversary (#Disney100) and films that they have confidence in compared to that of films they don’t. Looking at u there, #StrangeWorld. And the 750-theater US early access screenings they’re doing on Saturday, November 18th are even more evidence that they know, or at least believe, that #Wish’ll be a hit.
Let’s just hope my faith in this movie pays off…

I hope the IMAX theater near me ends up opening the film a day or so before the written release date the same way they did with Encanto.
I often don't know what all the numbers mean until comparing them to other films. I guess I can't recall right off what others did because I usually remember the worldwide numbers easier than the domestic.

"Little Patch of Heaven" is one of my main shower songs lol; I really enjoy that soundtrack.
"The City of Rosas," like "This Wish," is constantly in my head...I'm really liking how catchy these songs are!
I have tickets to see this on Thanksgiving so I don't have to take off work or go at night...I wish I were seeing it earlier though.

Asha had an
early debut on Disney on Ice.
Seems like Disney is really giving their all in promoting the film
(
kinda laughed when the Star prop came in and Asha danced with it

It's too bad that some people have mixed/critical feelings on the songs by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice. At least the ones revealed so far, because I personally really, really liked what I heard on all three songs in one way or another. But I guess it really depends on the persons taste in music, which I've never been closed off to any genre or any style of songwriting, which is probably why I really liked the soundtracks to both Moana and Encanto from the first listen without any quibbles to mention.
Would I have loved for Alan Menken to return for at least one last WDAS film to write the score and songs for? Absolutely. But I love the idea of the studio looking for fresh new talent to write music/songs for the studio's upcoming animated musicals. Honestly, what Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice have shown so far for Wish, I am very impressed that I would like to see them team up again for another WDAS musical.

On that topic, it seems Disney has decided to go with “This Wish (More For Us)” as the song from Wish to submit as a nominee for Best Original Song at the Oscars, which makes sense as it is the most viral of the 3 that really worked in a way so far, at least on TikTok:

Personally, I think the songs are okay? I know things are so stark online, you must hate something if you think it's anything less than an A+, but criticism doesn't mean you hate something. Can't speak for the others, of course, but I do passingly like all three songs to some degree and plan to buy the soundtrack just like I did with Moana and Encanto. Since this film's music is more in the vein of those two films, they're the best comparison. I'd say "This Is the Thanks I Get?" (the best of the three we've heard) is *much* better than "You're Welcome"; "Welcome to Rosas" is a little better than "The Family Madrigal" but about even with "Where You Are"; and "This Wish" is about the same level as "Waiting on a Miracle" but behind "How Far I'll Go." I don't hear anything as good as "We Don't Talk About Bruno" so far though, which admittedly was an outlier even for LMM, or "Surface Pressure" for that matter, but we'll see. Thankfully nothing as bad as "Scuttlebutt" either though.
I do prefer the Lopezes' music to this though, they would've been a better choice for the 100th anniversary. I think Pasek & Paul would've been better, too, if we were going to get pop-lite music anyway ("Million Dreams," "Never Enough," "This Is Me," "Speechless," etc.).

Trust me, I'm not one of those "Oh you gave something a lower grade than what was deserved you must hate it" kind of people, I can understand where the criticism is coming from. After all, I did say once that these songs sound like it won't be everyone's cup of tea, and honestly that's okay with me.

I wonder if the lyrics is less awkward and wordy than the English version?

Here is the French version of "this wish" with English subtitles:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-l22V2 ... nnel=toto5
I may be biased because I'm a French speaker but I feel like it's way better than the English version. The words just flow better. In the original, I hate the part :"Now I've got all of this freedom in my bones but I've still got the lid on, so it doesn't overflow" maybe becausse I'm not a native English speaker but it sounds weird to use the word "lid" in a Disney song. It makes me think of Tupperware!
In French, she says :
"But here I am, thirsting for freedom and suffering from this condition as(if I were) in a prison." which again sounds way better.

Here are also the
German and
Italian versions of "This Wish."
To me they're worse in Spanish, but some parts are better translated than others. Interestingly, instead of "So I make this wish to have something more than this," here the chorus is "My wish is to give our dreams their power." By the way, apparently, this is not the version that will be in the film in the dub for Spain, as this singer has only recorded this song and the end credits one, which is performed by Julia Michaels domestically. In an
interview, she says the end credits song is a bit quieter than "This Wish," very emotional and will give you goosebumps.
And in this other
interview, we can see a couple of new
Wish posters in the background.
