Margos wrote:Jeez, did you go see this at the Constant Downer Cineplex? Seriously, ours had maybe 5 small kids, 10 teens, 10 young adults and 5 middle-aged people, all of mixed genders. Everyone cracked up at every tiny little gag, even those that really aren't that funny. The little boy across the aisle from my brother and I grabbed his mom's sleeve and did the really-loud-whisper-thing: "I have to see that!" and she grinned and really-loudly-whispered, "Yeah, it looks funny!"
Seriously, they couln't get enough of it.
My theater is located next to a University but I went to a matinee, so there were an equal amount of children. Like I said, the very young children liked it but the "adults" just weren't in the mood, I guess. I purposely come 15 minutes late to movies to avoid previews and the
Rapunzel one was the only one I saw.
I will say this, when I went to see
Kick-Ass, everyone was laughing at the most minuscule things, as if they were high (might've been).

To all the people I know who I've shown the trailer laughed a lot with the "smoulder" thing and all that stuff, and they were surprised when I told them the movie was mainly about the story of Rapunzel.
I souldn't say anything of this but, someone I know saw storyboards of "Tangled" and told me that they will show more of Flynn to attract more male audience, but the film is 100% Rapunzel. So I'm ok with Disney if they want to do a different advertising campaign, IF the film is a classic Disney movie like The Little Mermaid, BatB, Aladdin,......
Anyway, I think this last trailer wasn't deffinitive to give any opinion about the film.
We'll see with that second trailer if "Tangled/Rapunzel" it's what we expect.
By the way, hi! I'm new posting here but I've been reading all your posts long ago! So I know some of you xD
I also saw long ago that someone posted here one of my deviations! (The "Anti-Tangled" one) Wow!! It's a complete honor!! =D
See you! =)

I just saw Toy Story 3 and saw the TANGLED trailer on the big screen. It sure didnt make me want to see the movie!! I am just holding out hope that the movie trailer is misrepresenting the actual product. BTW I hate the song they played during it too.....

I agree. "Trouble" by Pink doesn't exactly scream "fairytale". It was sort of neat to see how they selectively made the movie more marketable to the boys. But I still think Disney is ignorant to the fact that the world needs a traditional fairytale, completely hand drawn and with music by the composer who won the studio about 4 or 5 academy awards in 3 years...

I absolutely *LOVED* the trailer! I immediately wanted to see Tangled! The animation looks beautiful, the characters seem like fun, and I already saw some cute gags. I think that this film could possibly the Disney comeback that Princess and the Frog wasn't.

Wow. Well, that cinches it. If Disney can make a trailer for Tangled that Goliath loves, then this film is a bona fide box office hit.

The trailer is lame and tries to present Tangled (oh, I hate that title!) as a "hip" movie a la DreamWorks. I do hope the movie has heart, story and characters in the tradition of great Disney classics and that this trailer is just a stupid move dictated by the guys at Disney marketing (just as the title change was).
My friends thinks this movie looks as stupid as Shrek 3 and based on this trailer, I have to agree. It does not look like classical material, but as forgettable fluff. Here's hoping that the movie is nothing like the trailer. It looks noting like a great Disney movie, it makes me think of random CGI comedies made to satisfy 4 year olds.
At least, Alan Menken's music will make this movie watchable...

I wished that the
Tangled trailer felt like a Disney Animated Classic movie but the trailer feels like a Dreamworks Animation movie. The trailer is different but I think we Disney fans should know that the movie is still going to be great and the music too.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios' Facebook:

"The Disney animators are starting to bring the Tangled characters to life. Stay tuned to learn more about the creation of Flynn, Rapunzel, and their new friends!"

^and when was that posted? Cuz the animators are pretty much 3/4 of the way by now.
Anyway, I think they should've stuck with a version of the leaked trailer. I know they're trying to appeal to boys, but at least that preview was gender-neutral. and, as crazy as this sounds, the miley song sounded much more suitable for a conclusion to the preview than "Trouble". Of course, Alan Menken'd trump them both, but that's obviously out of the question.

You know from the looks of the art, it looks like Rapunzel is not satisfied about Flynn Rider taking more credit on the movie, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," than her. It shows that Disney is trying to focus on Flynn Rider, to attract many boys as possible to see the movie, and make Rapunzel his girlfriend. Also, it shows more art on Flynn Rider than Rapunzel. Poor Rapunzel. This is my message to Rapunzel, "Well, there is nothing we Disney fans can do about it for you. We tried to protest against their title, their plan for beefing up Flynn Rider, their marketing plan, and everything. You will just have to learn to tough it out, unless if you come out from your animation realm, like Fat Albert from the 20th Century Fox movie, 'Fat Albert,' and strangle them to death with your hair, that would make a difference. Sorry sister, but look at the bright side. Even though it is called, 'Tangled,' besides, 'Rapunzel,' and even though Flynn Rider receives more credit than you, you are still the no. 1 main character of the movie. For example, 'There's Something About Mary (by the way, that name of the movie has a girl's name),' even though it is supposed to be a story about Mary and all, but Ben Stiller stole the movie, because he keeps getting so many slapsticks on his face, especially when he has a zipper problem on his pants which ends him up at the hospital, not to mention getting beat up by a cop after he got arrested for leaking in the grass. Even though Ben Stiller stole the movie, Cameron Diaz is still the no. 1 main character. Here's another example, 'Aladdin.' Even though Genie stole the show, but Aladdin is still no. 1 character. It just comes to show, without protagonists to support the main protagonist, it would not be a good movie. In fact, the Joker stole the movie in, "The Dark Knight," from Batman, which makes him the top star, even though he is an antagonist. So who knows, what if beefing up Flynn Rider can actually support you? Who knows, maybe then you could be famous in anyway."
P.S. Here is a funny scene from, "There's Something About Mary."
Fireman: (Helps Ted with the zipper in his pants after it got stuck to his ding dong.) It's like pulling off a band aid. A 1, and a 2, and a...

I saw the dolls for Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," and they did it. They have changed the name from, "Rapunzel," to, "Tangled," but enough about that. Nice dolls though.

I must agree with spoilers who knew Mother Gothel's purpose to keep Rapunzel in the tower. Once she combs her hair by using Rapunzel's comb that was brushed on Rapunzel's hair, she will become young as long as she likes. But what if Rapunzel dies in age or anything unexpected, then Mother Gothel will have no choice but to grow old and die in age. Unless if Rapunzel's hair keeps her alive from any uncertain death, that would be interesting and really cool. Imagine, a killer trying to kill Rapunzel, but still has no effect on her. But if a killer cuts off her hair, and then kills her, would she still live, or die? I believe that if someone cuts off Rapunzel's hair, it will grow back quick as a flash, and Rapunzel will still have the power. Anyways, that doll of Mother Gothel looks really good, and villainous, unless she is a hero, which I doubt. But what if there is a reason for Mother Gothel to be a hero than a villain. What if Mother Gothel's real purpose to keep Rapunzel safe in the tower, so that Darker the Warlock will not get her hair, and keep himself young in order to rule the world since he too is growing old and weak? Forgive me Disney fans, I was just trying to make Darker the Warlock useful, but that could be his purpose to be young as well, to rule the world...maybe, but that would be interesting.
