She did that part so well!

I guess only some theatres do it? Was it in 3D, whoever saw it?
Yeah, I was kinda disappointed at that, too. I was looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.
Yea
candydog wrote:But the thing is, the movie isn't REALLY supposed to be a separate entity is it? I mean it's Disney's Maleficent. The point of "origin" stories is that the backstory can plausibly exist within a world with which the audience is already familiar. If you completely dismantle that world, and remove key elements of the source material, what's the point in the project?
Thank you! What I've been trying to say for so long!

Hey Duster, here's something that I almost forgot about that left me shocked but something I commended for Linda Woolverton for writing:
Unlike most Disney Villian deaths, we get to see King Stefan's body after his long fall. I mean....WOAH!

I saw it again last night, playing to another packed out audience which was great ! Literally, there were no seats left in the cinema. The audience was really buzzy, and they seem to find it funnier than the audience I saw it with the first time ( especially the
"I know who you are …. you're my fairy godmother!"……"What ??"
).
I loved it even more the second time round, I have to say. And what I did criticise quite harshly last time was the music…however, seeing it again, I really picked up on the score, and how great it was! Which I wasn't really feeling the first time. I guess I so wanted 'Dream' to be in the score somewhere, but now I know that it wont be, guess I appreciated it. And also, I was again blown away by just how stunning Angelina is …. my god, that women is beauty personified.
People left the cinema singing along to Lana, and I could audibly hear people singing the films praises ! So, I was really chuffed I chose to see it a second time. Atmosphere alone was worth it

I heard that it's a really fun game that actually does take a long while to get everything though it is pricey.

I'm sorry you feel that way but this is a forum which inspires discussion and opinion. So if you really didn't like the movie then good for you, but some of us do like this movie (in my case, love) for what it is.

If you feel so strongly,
mariadny, it might make you feel better to stay out of this discussion in particular, and just focus on the Sleeping Beauty thread ? Think that could help

I personally disliked Maleficent, but I understand why others might like it and I have to say, some of the discussions on this thread are some of the most interesting I've read on this forum.
I also find it interesting how a couple of weeks ago, so many people on this forum were dreading the film and what it would do to Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent, but most of the posts on here seem to lean on the positive side of things. On the opposite side of the spectrum, I was hyped for the movie and came away disappointed. It all goes to show you never what you're going to like and dislike.

I didn't notice that. Can't wait to see it again so I can!

The figurine looks beautiful

so far, I don't own any Disney Infinity figurine, but I'm very interested in this one. This is not related in any way to Maleficent, but I'm thinking of purchasing the Disney Infinity game, and I have some questions. Is it entertaining? Is it playable on the computer, or on PlayStation? I'm asking, because I have no idea what the game is about, but some friends recommended it.

Not even this movie could bring merchandising according in Disney Store?
Went there and not only didn´t they have merchandise related to the movie but they didn´t even have the regular Sleeping Beauty merchandise.
BTW, Disney Infinity is a lackluster game to me. If it was up to me it would have ALL Disney Classics characters. Not just Pixar, Disney CGI and live action characters.

Yeah, as I thought... Which makes the closure of Pirates Online and their other games all the more irksome.

According to Box Office Mojo, it has made over 100 million in the US alone. Good job so far.

Odd, as I've definitely seen merchandise for this movie at my local Disney Store. Mugs, journals, shirts, and dolls. Maybe those were sold out at your location? I know the Maleficent doll has been selling very well, even being sold out online for a period of time.

Okay, I liked this movie a lot but there is one scene in particular that I'm not sure what my feelings are on it. The scene in particular is when Stefan cuts Maleficent's wings off, it's a strong and powerful scene to be sure and Maleficent's reaction, to knowing that she lost her wings is just heartbreaking but with so many news outlets reporting that the scene was an allegory for rape, I don't know it just feels odd. I mean, I have nothing against Disney going dark but the more I think about that scene, the more uncomfortable, I am with it.

Call me arrogant, for I have not seen the movie for myself, but I think people are calling it 'rape'.
I guess a lot of people view Angelina Jolie's reaction as being similar to someone having just woken up, only to discover the horrifying knowledge that they were drugged and raped. But this is not what happened, it was assault.
And PLEASE, DO correct me on this rather sensitive subject. I'm just putting down my two cents, but I think people are a little too quick in jumping the gun and calling out 'Rape!'.
While rape IS a form of assault, this not the form of assault that was used.

No, I think you are correct but it's not to see that way because of the way, the movie presents what Stefan does to her by taking advantage of her and making her feel weak and powerless in that moment but I think assault is a better way to look at it.

Quick question that bugged me from before.....
In the move everyone calls him 'Stefan' as in the 1959 movie, but Angelina for whatever reason calls him what sounds like 'Stephon'....? I wonder why she did, as it jars slightly.
