Herc and Meg, yes! and Id too love it if this version of Hades is more like the Greek version where he is more of a neutral character. In fact I think Id prefer it to some fans suggestions of wanting James Woods back to reprise his role as a live action Hades. I loved Woods in the voice role, but I have a feeling that him hamming it up in full Hades costume will just end up cheesy.

I read that the creators of the show said that Emma crusshed the heart of the thing she loved most to enact the curse this time around. However who was it? Maybe it was Merlin because he was the only hope of her becoming good again? Anyway looking forward to see what happened to Merlin

Probably Hook. She probably loves Henry more, but I don't think they'd go there.
The episode was boring for me. All Rumpel/Belle/Merida, and I can't even write out my disinterest with them. I did like Zelena's scene with Emma though. Zelena is fantastic. I hope she's around all season.

A pity. I could do with less Henry, but I admit that he isn't nearly as grating now as he was in seasons 2 and 3. It can't be him or Hook though, because both are still alive and well in the present and the curse was cast to transport them back to the present Storybrooke.
I love Zelena too! She's been absent for the last few episodes so it was nice to see her again. I much prefer has as part of the regular cast over Robin.

Oh, yeah. lol Disneyboy is probably right then, that it's most likely Merlin. Because you know Nimue was the Dark One Merlin was speaking to, maybe they can explain it away that the 1st--I can't remember if they said the DO Merlin was speaking to was the first or not--Dark One's greatest love is Merlin.

Yeah, this episode was kind of dull for me too. It felt like a filler. At least, the
next one seems much more intriguing.
I never understood why Emma needed to turn Rumple into a hero in a town where, she even admits, is chock-full of heroes. She could have made anyone pull the Excalibur including Merida whom she already controlled.

I feel the opposite of everyone here, I really liked this episode b/c of the focus on Merida, the actress is so spot on with her portrayal!
who is Nimue? her name keeps popping up everywhere...

Nimue is Merlin's love, and also the Lady of the Lake. Read about her here.

I think she said something about needing someone with a blank slate to be a hero. I can't remember her exact words.

I'm really enjoying Merida too, much more than from her original movie. The actress is great so I'm really excited that she will be returning with Mulan and Ruby.

Yeah, I read that earlier... But it only says for the 100th episode, we don't know if he'll play much of a role or not. It reminds me of
Desperate Housewives' 100th episode and how they had nearly every character of the series appear. That's probably the main reason they decided on the Underworld, because that would help getting the cameos together easy.

I'd say Neal/Baelfire is very likely, too, with how much they've been bringing him up.
It would be great if the Huntsman would appear, but who knows if that'll happen. I believe the last time we saw him was the season 1 finale, right?

Well I think we saw him in a flashback when oh that guy who wanders into town as a kid with his dad, but the kid escapes Storybrooke and he worked with that lady who both ended up not knowing they were working for Pan the whole time.
Also I doubt we'll see The Huntsman for a while. That actor has another franchise he's currently in the sequel for 50 Shades of Grey starring as the guy named Grey (havne't read into the book at all that much nor the movie, know the premise, just not my cup of tea)

^ You're right. I forgot about that episode. Yeah, the actor might not want to return because he has better things to do, but it would be nice. A cameo in one episode wouldn't take much though.

Greg Germann was cast, likely as Hades. Sidney/The Magic Mirror will be in the 100th episode.

That was a really strong episode. I think the reason it worked is because I like both actors for Merlin
/Nimue. I loved the scene where Emma is
being forced to strangle Merlin, and when she broke free from Nimue’s control—that vein in Morrison’s forehead, man.

I also liked Arthur’s confrontation with Merlin, and the
Zelena/Arthurteam-up.
I can’t wait for next week. The past couple of episodes had caused me to lose interest in this arc, but this one thankfully brought me back in.

Best episode of the season so far. Jennifer Morrison was really good in this episode both when
she broke out of Nimue's control as well as in her scenes with Hook. The lack of Henry and his cringe-worthy romance was also a plus. I was kind of hoping Zelena would
double cross Arthur and begin her path to redemption but I guess they want her to remain a villain. Zelena has done less terrible things than Regina and considering her backstory and her pregnancy, redemption would still have been possible. But I guess they don't want yet another villain to be redeemed. It's been done so many times in the show already.
Nimue
being the original Dark One was very predictable (they gave the whole thing away in the first episode when Merlin couldn't kill "him") but satisfying nonetheless. There were also a couple of plot holes regarding
Merlin/Nimue's backstory (like why wasn't Nimue turned into dust when she touched the Grail since she wasn't pure of heart or why didn't Merlin try to heal Nimue when he thought she was injured?) but I'm used to that sort of thing by now.

You guys are so right about Emma's acting this episode! That vein, yes! And yes, how the romance Henry has is cringe-worthy. But I didn't like Nimue's actress. I also think Merlin's kinda boring but not as bad as Nimue and Guinevere. Zelena is pretty fun, and I do think she's pretty good despite me thinking redemption was going to happen with her and her doing what she did now makes me like her less again.
And I have a problem with including the Holy Grail in this and it being magic. It's true, originally, magic was spiritual power, but the Bible condemns magic as the spiritual version it was in the past (as opposed to the magic we have today that is not spiritual, like the modern versions of fairy tales and Harry Potter), so the Holy Grail wouldn't be magical nor be able to have magic used on it. So, this was blasphemous to me and I'm rather bothered by it.

The Holy Grail is of pivotal significance in Arthurian literature so it should come to no surprise that the writers included it. If it helps, the Holy Grail is not necessarily the Holy Chalice from Christian theology. The Holy Grail appears in many, often conflicting, stories ranging from Celtic mythology to French tradition. Even in Arthurian lore its connection to the Chalice is unclear. In some tales, the Grail is conflated with the Holy Chalice, in others it's a different thing entirely.
Personally, I liked the religious symbolism in the episode and the parallels it drew between
Merlin/Nimue, Adam/Eve (or Lilith) and God/Lucifer. It really suited the mythology surrounding the Dark One.
Anyway, a new
clip from the next episode has been released. Apparently, everything Emma's been doing so far was for Hook's sake.

I see, Sotiris. Thank you. Once again you are so knowledgeable. I didn't even know about Lilith! I have never read the Bible from beginning to end, just parts of it.
If the Holy Grail can be a magical thing separate from the divine thing Christ drank from, then I'm ok with what they did with it in this show.
And WOW at that clip!
I forgot to mention, Disney's Divinity, that Merlin as the usher told little orphan Emma not to take Excaliber "even when it seems for the right reasons" back when she was that little girl in the real world at the movie theater.
