What differences are you seeing? All I'm noticing are perspective and color differences from being shot off screen versus a direct feed shot.

I love that picture! Very cute! It almost have an Mark Hehn-vibe to it. It reminds me a little bit of Rapunzel's expression;

She looks skinnier in that picture, though.

That was a wonderful little video to introduce the voice actress ! She seems lovely, great choice Disney
And also, I now finally know who to say it properly .... I kept saying Moana and in moaning, not Mo-Anna

so how are you saying maui then? lol
both names are common in new zealand. i have a moana street down the road from me, and maui is a maori myth. the south island was his waka [canoe] and he fished up the north island. he also threw a net over the sun and beat it so it wouldnt cross the sky so quickly.

Well, I knew how Maui sounded, as opposed to hearing the name Moana before. In England, I've never heard of anyone called that name is all, or anyone be referenced as that.

I'm not surprised that Dinah Jane didn't get the part. It doesn't seem like Simon Cowell allows his acts to have much off time.
And it looks like Auli'i will be great for the part! I'm excited.

Musical Master wrote:I heard that Maui's tattoos are going to be 2-D animated with supervision by Eric Goldberg. Is this true?
It appears so.
For something new from Eric Goldberg, check out the "tattoos" in the new Disney film MOANA, in theaters everywhere on November 23, 2016.

You can see Eric’s work next in the new Disney Animated film Moana. He animates the tattoos on the Hawaiian God character played by the Rock. I can’t wait to see this movie as it looks amazing.

Well, there was a little piece of 2D animation in Frozen and no one noticed.
Mark Henn: I actually did a little piece of animation for the film which was largely an effect and part of it got changed and part of it stayed so it’s really buried.
Q: What was it?
Mark Henn: It’s part of little Elsa’s vision in the sky at the very beginning and I animated some characters and they changed. […] It was a silhouette of Elsa and a silhouette of some crowds and for whatever reason they changed what I did on Elsa and put something else in but kept the crowd animation I did where papa troll says “You’re going to have great powers but these powers can be very dangerous” and the crowd at first is like “Ah”. It’s just real simple silhouettes but it was kind of fun to do.

Mark Henn wrote:Well, actually on Frozen I did just a smattering of animation that was largely effects animation for Elsa’s vision when the family takes her as a little girl to see the trolls at the beginning of the movie and the head troll was conjuring up what her powers mean and what could happen. There’s a little bit of 2D animation there; some of the silhouettes and visions that they see. I did a couple of those. So, I actually did a little bit of animation for Frozen but the bulk of my job was to do draw-overs, work with the animators, give them some ideas on just how to make the animation better.

A clip from Moana was shown at Eric Goldberg's Aladdin presentation for mommy bloggers.
As a final treat, we were shown a preview clip of the upcoming animated film, Moana. In the clip we see Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s character Maui trying to impress the title princess and her pig pet-sidekick with his amazing demi-god skills. Looks like another classic is in the works.

Well, by claiming it as a classic, let's hope they mean it, haha.
Pardon for my ignorance, but does Disney have a new approach towards not modelling the characters after the actors, as opposed as they did with their hand drawn characters? Since Moana was designed before casting the voice actor for her.

The only time I recall Disney having the characters literally looking like their voice actors was Wreck-It Ralph. At least, with Ralph (John C. Reilly), Felix (Jack McBrayer), Calhoun (Jame Lynch) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman).
