One of the reasons that I love this film so much is the ensemble cast. So I think the covers w/ a LOT of characters on it, for this film at least, work the best!

Sorry for not having participated the last few weeks. I'll post just my top favorites for each movie, except the ones for Cars 2 which I'll post later.

WALL-E

1. Blufans Exclusive Steelbook (China): I've always loved this artwork and how it conveys how lonely WALL-E is and his longing to meet someone else.
2. Collector's Edition (France): I like how this and the next cover highlight the romance, since this is Pixar's first romantic film. Plus, this romantic setting with a desolate landscape behind is really funny and charming.
3. DVD (Japan)
4. Blu-ray 1/Blu-ray 2: It focuses more on the adventure and WALL-E's mission to save the plant, but it's not a bad cover. By the way, the packaging for the Special Edition DVD, which also had this cover, was quite cool. And, at least in Spain, included seeds to plant a tree.
5. 4K Steelbook: Another one about the romance between WALL-E and EVE. It's simple, but charming.

I agree. My next favorites would be the Future Shop Steelbook (Canada) and the Collectible Tin. They're quite simple, but WALL-E looks adorable in them.

By the way, farerb, I was wondering what your thoughts are on the covers for WALL-E, since if I'm not mistaken, it's one of your favorite Pixar films, right? Is there any cover you particularly like?


Up

1. DVD (Japan): I love this cover, especially because of the angle chosen for the image and how we can see the land and the small houses below Carl's.
2. DVD: I like that it highlights the adventure and all the original elements from this movie like the flying house, Kevin (the giant bird) or the talking dogs.
3. Blu-ray 1: As Marce82 said, this cover has all those elements as well and is also really good in my opinion.
4. Best Buy/Future Shop Steelbook: This one and the following two feature just the house up in the sky, but I think that's enough to represent the movie since, like Marce82 also mentioned, it's the most iconic thing from the movie. The composition for these three covers, in my opinion, is quite good too.

6. Best Buy Steelbook

The Blufans Collector's Box Set from China and the DVD + CD from Mexico, both inspired in Carl and Ellie's adventure book, are also interesting. Here are some photos of those editions, for anyone interested:

Yeah, it's weird that sometimes they don't choose the main character for these covers that feature just one character. Maybe they thought Russell would sell better than Carl, but I prefer when the protagonist is on the cover.


Toy Story 3

1. Zavvi Steelbook (UK): Both this and the next one are quite good, in my opinion, but I prefer the characters escaping from Sunnyside since it's a big part of the movie. I like that Woody is more prominent on the DVD, though, because the film centers more on him. Curiously, the preliminary cover for Japan (below right) gave more prominence to Woody:

4. DVD (Italy): I think this one works a bit better than other similar covers because of the contrast between the left, which is all crowded with characters, and the empty space on the right.
5. Ultimate Toy Box Collection: Using Andy's toy box to store the discs is a cool idea.

I don't know why I haven't posted my WALL-E ranking yet, I meant to but then I was busy and probably forgot.
Here they are:

Blufans Exclusive Steelbook (China) - one of my favorites posters (which is why I used it as an avatar for a long time). It really evokes his sense of loneliness like D82 pointed out and also looking at the sky, implying there's something more.

DVD (Japan) - I also love when the covers are more focused on the love story between WALL-E and Eve and this one feels extremely romantic and also having the plant suggests its significance.

Collector's Edition (France) - same as above minus the plant. I also like this one.

4K Steelbook - I love how it takes the iconic dance scene and it is drawn beautifully.

Blu-ray 1 - also a lovely cover.

Blu-ray 2 - same as above, though I don't think the banner is necessary.

4K UHD - Not as outstanding as the others, but I like purple so I'm glad they used this color.

DVD (Australia) - not a fan of the vertical banner, there's no reason for it to take a lot of space.

Blu-ray 3 - same as above.

Future Shop Steelbook (Canada) - I like backgrounds more but I agree that WALL-E is cute enough to make this (and other covers that are the same) acceptable.

Blu-ray 4 - Though this one still stands out. I never cared for these mugshots covers and somehow with WALL-E it's even more awkward.

WALL-E is my favorite Pixar film and probably my second favorite animated film and it has gotten some great collector's edition that are too expensive and hard to find. Even the 4K steelbook became expensive. Oh well...

I'm pleasantly surprised that Holly is on the French Heroes cover! I like Mater, but yay Holly!

Groan @ the German 3-Movie Collection. Yawn! The Japanese Collector's Box Set sure comes with some neat stuff.

The Chinese Blufans Exclusive of Up is really cool! Super jam-packed with cool things.

Thanks for sharing your WALL-E ranking, farerb! I'm glad we have similar opinions on several of the covers.

That's a shame. I also love WALL-E. My top favorite Pixar films are some of the first ones, like Toy Story or Finding Nemo, maybe because I was a child/teenager when I first saw them or perhaps because the Pixar formula felt fresher to me at first, but I like WALL-E, Up and some of the most recent ones like Inside Out or Coco a lot too.

Brave:
1. Blu-ray 1 - Great composition, uses all the main characters while giving a lot of prominence to the most important one.
2. 4K Steelbook - That use of the thing on the bow as the bear's eye is so cool.
3. 3D Blu-ray (France) - I find it really pretty.

I think that Brave has a lot of decent covers (none are bad, IMO. The ones I didn't rank are all fine.)

I know we are discussing feature films and not Disney Toon studios films, but we did talk about artists that did covers or preliminary or alternate covers and I thought this concept for Cinderella II might interest some people, because it looks really good to me and like it could have been a great cover for the original Cinderella film!:

Um, why was the title for the 3D Blu-ray in France Monsters University, but Monsters Academy for the Heroes cover? I'd get it if one was French Canadian and one was French...Going to IMDB's "AKA section, it was called Monstres Academy in France.

It's my fault, I sent that particular cover to farerb. I found it on Amazon France, so I supposed it was a French cover. I didn't notice the title was different. I've checked the link and it turns out it's not from Canada but from Italy, where the film also kept its original English title.

I saw someone mentioned the Cinderella 2 DVD concept art. I came across these a few days ago, and I thought I'd share them here.


According to the website, they are all from 2002, when the original DVD and VHS was released. What do you guys think? I think the one with Cinderella and the Prince dancing, and the one with her trying on the slipper are the best, but they're all beautiful. She's drawn beautifully, on model. For a crappy movie, they created some beautiful covers.

Thanks for posting them, Sicoe Vlad! I had never seen those before. Some of them are really nice. Am I the only one here who doesn't hate Cinderella 2? I actually liked the first and last segment. And the animation was pretty decent, especially if you take into account these were meant to be episodes for an aborted TV series.
