Aww, that's real swell. :)

Only if they incorporate Evangeline as well. :P

That's true. Besides, that'd be like bringing Mufasa back to life in The Lion King 2.

Warning: Spoilers
At the time Facilier asked his friends for their help finding Naveen, it was redundant that he told them he was giving them the city (for giving him the taliman and now also for the capture of Naveen) after he obtained the LaBouff fortune. His friends should have known they were getting the city as payment for the talisman way before then. Facilier had have met and informed them of his plan before bringing Naveen and Lawrence to his emporium. The talisman floats out of the portal to the other side as though it were pre-planned when Facilier is ready to transform Naveen.

I'm too observant. :P

I thought they just gave him the talisman, perhaps for other things, perhaps to get Naveen's and Lawrence's souls. The talisman magic was what he always did, always tricking people and giving the other side people's souls.

When he needed a lot more magical, more powerful help to get Naveen and to get his fortune, it was only then he offered them the city which he could give to them when he was in power.

If Facilier handed people off to his friends all the time he wouldn't be in deep debt to them.

Facilier was deep in debt before asking for a transformation talisman and shadows to find Naveen*. So I imagine Facilier had every intention of giving his friends the city when he thought up his scam.

*And why the heck wasn't Facilier's shadow out there looking too? It's all scared that the shadows won't find Naveen in time to complete the plan and it and Facilier would be punished by FotOS for failing to give them the city. But it doesn't go out and help the search. That's a jerk move. I'd think the FotOS would be a bit less angry about their shadows searching for Naveen because Facilier didn't keep track of him if Facilier's shadow helped out.

I don't think his shadow could help...it probably can't leave Facilier from a very very far distance....since when Facilier met his end TFOTS pulled the leg of his shadow I thought which pulled Facilier into the other side to his doom - though I could be wrong...

Umm... okay. I got an e-mail that there was a recent post in this discussion thread. But when I checked, it said something like the topic doesn't exist. :?

^You mean the Mama Odie concept art?

Yeah...I figured since there were other images I wanted to post from other films, and since the search function doesn't work well anymore, it'd be easier and take up less space to just make a thread for concept art and the like.

Apparently, Beyoncé refused to audition for the role of Tiana.
Jen Rudin, whose book “Confessions of a Casting Director” comes out in December, says she was happy to accommodate even the strangest celebrity request when she worked at Walt Disney. [...]

Rudin says casting voices for “The Princess and the Frog” was especially tough. “Beyoncé expected an offer, but wouldn't audition and so she didn't get one,” she tells us. “Tyra Banks, Jennifer Hudson wanted it. Alicia Keys auditioned three times...They had to sing, so we made it clear they needed sheet music. Tyra came in with a CD, but it didn't matter because she was so pretty and nice. It went to Anika Noni Rose, who was the most qualified.”

I'm so glad Disney pulled a Frozen here: Whoever is the most talented gets it. Not every other studios these days: Whoever has the bigger name gets it.

What I'm getting is that: Beyonce wanted Disney to giver her Tiana, so that's why she didn't audition

I agree; I'm so glad Anika Noni Rose was given the (justified) chance to bring Tiana to life and make her one of my favorite characters.

Imagining Tyra Banks as Tiana gives me nightmares.

I remember Jennifer Hudson also wanted the role, although--even though she's very talented (both as an actor and singer)--I don't think she fit Tiana. It's funny she ended up representing her in that Disney Dreams photo line though. I wonder if Will Smith's son was angry he didn't get to play Dr. Facilier?

I'm even happier that Epic bombed now. What an entitled monster!

And she would have sucked as Tiana.

1) Epic didn't bomb. It wasn't a runaway success, unfortunately, but it more than doubled its production budget by a good margin.

2) Why should Beyonce wanting a role offered to her be reason enough for another film of hers to bomb? You do know almost every major Hollywood actor prefers to have roles offered to them than audition? Do you think Brad Pitt or Adam Sandler audition? No, they too go after roles they want and ask to be cast. That's how the system works when you become big enough. So, it's not a Beyonce-exclusive deal.

3) Outside of voicing in the film and writing the end credits song, Beyonce had no other involvement in the production of Epic. So, saying Epic deserved to bomb because you don't like a decision she made many years earlier is an insult to the hard work of Chris Wedge, William Joyce and the other people who worked hard on Epic and spent no time with her outside of the recording booth and premiere parties.

This is not a defense of Beyonce or her behaviour regarding the part of Tiana. I think they made the right choice going with Anika Noni Rose, but think logically, before typing.

Oh please. Epic also got mediocre reviews at best and made ZERO impact on public consciousness and will be forgotten completely by next year. No one cares about that steaming pile of garbage.

Did you actually watch Epic?

I thought it was a magnificent and highly imaginative film that really pushed what computer animation can do and was filled with an amazing mythology and fascinating characters and conflict.

Oh, what am I doing, writing a thoughtful and intelligent response to somebody who can't think of something more constructive and thought-out to back up their claims?

LOL why are you talking down to me in both of your posts? Acting like a petulant child because I insulted a movie you like. I'm entitled to my opinions as well

So I don't like Epic and understand that it's one of the least memorable animated films of the year. Don't take it personally and lash out with personal attacks. No need to go in to hysterics like you are. I'm just stating the facts. It was mainly an attack on Beyonce anyway. Are you her publicist or something?

And I only brought it up as an example of how Disney going with talent over star power is a good thing. Epic is loaded with big celebrities and most of them including Beyonce probably didn't have to audition, but it didn't really help with the quality or the bottom line.

I don't even want to have this debate because who cares about freaking Epic, but LOL at calling yourself intelligent and thoughtful. Please.

I didn't know if you had seen Epic or not, so you are free to dislike it and I'm not offended if you dislike it. At no point did I talk down to you, but I don't think calling somebody a monster is well thought-out.

I'm no fan of Beyonce, believe me, and as I said, I'm very glad Rose was picked over her. But there was zero reason to bring up another, unrelated movie and hoping it bombed merely because they cast her (frankly, no animated movie deserves to bomb, since even more-so than live-action films, there are usually jobs on the line. Just look at DreamWorks, after Rise of the Guardians severely underperformed), a decision likely only made by the casting director in collaboration with the film's director and producer.
