Let's just accept that Disney has no logic and no uniformity for their releases.

Well, I think we'll be getting the "Mulan" press-release in the next days, right? By the way, why hasn't Disney made the box set avaliable for pre-order yet?

I must be the only person NOT looking forward to a Mulan "special"/"collector"/"some lame title they're using for DVD titles to get you to buy it" edition DVD, whether it's 1 disc, 2-disc, or even if they included lithos.

I have to admit, the cover is kinda cool, though. Not enough to get me to shell out $30 though.

As I said once before, I think Disney should just release a line of DVD covers and inserts, and stop releasing the actual DVDs. They can't seem to get the latter right, and the former seems to be the primary concern of most people so I think my solution is practically perfect in every way.

Anyhoo, the cover itself looks fine. It is certainly a marked improvement over the last release. While it is similar in many respects, I think it looks slightly more stylised on this cover and you know, style is what I'm all about

Anyways, I welcome the DVD in whatever form it takes. DVDTimes says they know it will contain: two-disc special edition release featuring deleted scenes including a never-before-heard song and alternate openings, alongside numerous featurettes, games, artwork, an exclusive sneak peak at Mulan II and much, much more.

I keep seeing this, does this mean Mulan II is being pushed back?! Wow now disney is even pushing back their treasured sequels! Actually I guess Lilo and Stitch 2, was the first sequel to be pushed back, but that was just so it could get theatrical treatment.

I honestly don't know why some people seem to be getting all bent out of shape over the Masterpiece Edition vs. Speical Edition issue, personally I prefer Special Edition, but if Disney wants to diversify they library by putting different labels on different films, then fine! as long as they're getting 2 disc treatment!

Satoshi, I recomend relieving yourself of the Star Wars Trilogy, it is almost certain to be rereleased in 2005/2006 with the other 3 movies as a super 6 movie collection set! to but it now and have it a year or 2 early but deny yourself such great Collectors Gift Sets such as Aladdin and Mulan, just seems WRONG! Wrong I tell you! WRONG!

I can't wait for this gift set! Just seeing the cover art makes me more excited! Can't wait for fall!

well, I wan't to have summer holidays first, but it just seems that Disney DVD releases seem to make the year go faster.

Like someone's said before, it seems like just yesterday we were complaining that the Treasure's were pushed back...

ahhhhh 2 box sets in one month!!! i need to get them (aladdin & Mulan). I'm a obsessed collector I buy pre-order the single disc sets from Disney store to get the lithographs and buy the two boxes somewhere else. Are you prepared for this Loomis? We gots to have it!

They've obviously worked out we are the TSM (Target Sucker Market) and are willing to exploit said TSM for all it is worth.

Having said that, after not owning a copy for so long, I welcome the chance to get this in ANY format. The box makes the wait all the sweeter.

Just one question: Can't you preorder the box set and get the lithos as well? I know the online Disney Store offer lithos (and sometimes plush toys) with box set preorders (they did with LK I believe).

I believe the anwswer to that question lies in her Disney Story, the topic stickied at the top of all the other posts.

Her reason for not likely Mulan is similair to my reason for being annoyed with Hercules...

So I should dislike Brother Bear, because it misrepresents and stereotypes Canadians?

These films are entertainment, not documentaries. They're not there to educate. Hopefully, folks are entertained, and are interested enough to go out and research actual history books.

Yes, it would work out just fine if I weren't a big Star Wars nut and a very impatient person.

That said, I've found out that I will be able to afford the gift sets of Mulan and Aladdin, it's just that if I get them, every last bit of my money will be drained. So I think it'll probably be a last minute decision as to whether I get them or not. Plus I'll need to see some pictures and know what's in the Mulan gift set and whatnot before making the decision. It's still a ways off though so I've got plenty of time to make the decision.

I'm not saying Mulan was misrepresented. I just felt the film was too Westernized with the inclusion of Mushu. (IMO, he files under the category of "Movie sidekicks so annoying it makes me want to strangle them.")

But since I'm usually willing to give things a second chance, I think there's a chance my sister might rent the Mulan 2-disc when it comes out. I'll watch it with her and see if it's still as bad as I remember.

WOW, the cover looks amazing indeed but they'll be tiring out that style by the time the platinum line ends. I really like the idea of the hero being the largest and the title in the center but up until now it was only for the the platinum line and it was cool, now even a special edition dvd gets it, it'd be boring.

Well, you know Leonia, Disney turned our King Arthur into an annoying little schoolkid and Merlin into a scatterbrained "comedy" wizard. And let's not forget they turned Robin Hood literally into (what some consider to be) "vermin"

thanks for posting... Im beginning to doubt wetehr there will be a box set or not. But we'll find out soon... I think we should see a press release next week or so

Sounds pretty good to me. I'm assuming the Mulan Facts is a pop-up fact track similar to what Aladdin will get (I love these). Odd that there's no mention of galleries, though (or trailers)...

Nowadays, it seems rare when they mention them.
Well, I fear Disney may "forget" to include theatrical trailers once more.

I like pop-up tracks as well ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit" has a great one). Even when they are a bit childish, they still offer good information (like the one on "The Many Adventures of Winnie-The-Pooh" DVD).
Hmmm... but I think this "Fun Facts" extras is just a series of text screens. There are extras like this on other DVDs (like "Oliver" and "Sword In The Stone").
