If Elsa, Anna, and especially Moana still haven't been officially added, I doubt Vanellope will. She really doesn't fit in the lineup. Can you imagine Vanellope in a doll set with the rest of the princesses as pictured in the previous page? Or Vanellope included in a tea set or makeup kit? For that matter, Vanellope included with the princesses at the parks for one of the shows or parades or even found in the princess hall as a meet-and-greet character next to Cinderella and Snow White? At best, she'll occasionally be included in princess merchandise like Moana or the Frozen sisters sometimes are, but even then, it'll probably just be on merchandise that features the modern, "comfy" princesses as based off their appearances in WIR2.

Interestingly enough, she was included as a princess in Disney Infinity although the lineup in that game was just weird. Pocahontas and Tiana were too unpopular to be included and while Giselle was included, she wasn't considered a Disney Princess.

That article clearly was being sarcastic about Vanellope being a Disney Princess.

Nope, it's serious.
Add the song to the list of surprises Vanellope has given Silverman since she first stepped in to voice the character in 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph. The final scenes of that film reveal that Vanellope is a princess — a surprise to Silverman in and of itself — but nowhere in the original film was it suggested that the character might be officially included in Disney’s iconic princess lineup just a few years later. (The announcement was made in 2017 by directors Johnston and Rich Moore at the studio’s annual D23 fan convention.)

“I didn’t really find out she’s a princess until I was recording the end of the first movie,” Silverman recalls. “It wasn’t in the original table read, but the reason why these movies are so rich and brilliant is because they’re constantly writing and rewriting and adding layers and going deeper and finding new meaning. So I was happy, but it didn’t really cross my mind that I’m a Disney princess — like, that I’m canon — until we all met this year. I got a little choked up. It’s corny, I know, but I was like, ‘Oh s—, right. I’m this Jewish, comfortable-clothes-wearing Disney princess. How cool is that?”

How is that proof the other article was serious?

Auli'i Cravalho called Moana "a Polynesian princess" in a new EW profile.

Has she ever called Moana a princess before? I thought I remembered that in the marketing for the film, she tried to clarify that Moana is not a princess.

I think recent marketing shifts are pushing for Moana to be a princess, which kind of goes against the vibes the movie presented but I guess if Pocahontas can be a Disney Princess... Disney wanted to make meta self referential humor but also have the brand make $$$. Have their cake and eat it too.

The brand clearly doesn't care anymore. They can name any girl/woman within reason a princess, unless their movie does well enough to be their own franchise or if the woman is barely recognizable.

If Disney started making human versions of popular animal characters (Judy, Nala, Dory) just to include in the line, that wouldn't be the biggest surprise to me.

My Little Pony has the Equestria Girls line (human versions of ponies), so you may have given Disney Consumer Products an idea!

So first, Moana was a Disney "heroine." And now, she is a princess.

I find Disney so hypocritical with their princess brand. Whenever the films are coming out, they try to do as much damage control as possible by claiming that Merida is an "anti-princess" and that Moana isn't a princess at all so that princess haters won't snub the films in theaters. But as soon as the box office results have dried up, Disney becomes desperate to revitalize the characters by suddenly labeling them as princesses fit to join their biggest cash cow, the DP franchise, so they can keep churning out $.

Yep. That's exactly what it is. I wonder if they'll do the same with Jan-Nin when Dragon Empire comes out.

^Yup, that was mentioned :)

This most likely means nothing, but Vanellope was added as a result in OMD's Princess quiz. But, it seems like Moana hasn't been added yet.

https://ohmy.disney.com/quiz/2014/06/25 ... s-are-you/

And interesting news: The Princess site was updated with new games, activities, a Christmas ad, and the removal of the WHICH DISNEY PRINCESS ARE YOU? quiz, but no mention of the Wrecked Princesses, Moana, or Vanellope. But, Elena is still on it.

I don't think that means anything. It's probably just a temporary thing to promote Ralph Breaks the Internet, evident from the description of the playlist. Even the image they used for the playlist was taken from a character poster for the movie.
Vanellope has taken over the Disney Princess playlist! Go HERE to get tickets to see her and your favorite Disney Princesses in Ralph Breaks the Internet — in theatres now.
