Ohhhh an unheard reprisal of Poor Unfortunate Souls performed by Pat Carroll herself? That alone is enough to make it a day one purchase for me.

I'm surprised they went with sunset colors rather than a blue sky, but it's a unique choice. They better have at least one picture of Ursula on the inside, especially since she has a song of her own.
I only wish they'd included the deleted/alternate versions of "Part of That World," "Part of Your World (Reprise)," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," "Fathoms Below," and "Silence Is Golden."
I agree with you, they should have included the deleted/alternate versions of Part of Your World - did not Jodie Benson record some of those? I seem to remember a deleted scene on the bonus material of the 2006 DVD release where she sings. I like her chanting (the chanting you can hear in the original theatrical trailer), and wonder if it will be included in any way. What about the music playing when Vanessa walk along the beach and enchants Eric with her voice - is that track a part of this release?
And that cover art is beyond amazing!

What chanting??!!
Also, I really wanted a recording of the ending reprise of Part of your world. The one that was included in the alternative ending.

Ok, thoughts on Little Mermaid:
Cover: I really like this cover, however, I do have one small problem... It's sad! But other than that, it's practically a masterpiece. one of the best soundtrack covers we've gotten. A huge step up from Sleeping Beauty.
As for the tracks. The first disc looks pretty darn good to me.
The second one is where I'm a bit hesitant. I really wanted more recordings from Jodi Benson. But hearing Alan Menken and Howard Ashman is going to be great.
I already pre-ordered the set!

Wow ! That cover is just so beautiful ! Why couldn't the Blu release have something lovely like this as well ? That would have been wonderful !
Wonderful to have the complete score, but I too am in agreement that we should have the Jodi recording of 'Happy Ending / Part Of Your World Reprise 2'. I'm trying to figure out if Jodi playing Vanessa will be on there ? As in, what track it will fall under ….. I certainly can't think what the 'Poor Unfortunate Souls Reprise' is ?

Overall, after sitting on it for a day, I'd rank the covers so far as:
1.
Mary Poppins
2.
The Little Mermaid
3.
The Lion King
4.
Sleeping Beauty
I'm glad we're getting these beautiful pieces with this series.

Even though it says Pat Carroll, somehow I think it's really Jodi Benson as Vanessa singing "Poor Soul" to her reflection in the mirror. It'll be nice to finally have that on an official soundtrack though.

I agree. I wonder why they didn't put all these on the 2nd disc? It really would not take too much room, and I'm a little disappointed they wasted this chance to do so. Only 6 more tracks:
1. "Fathoms Below" (lyrics about Ursula)
2. "Part of Your World" (human-specific terms for the objects Ariel's collected as lyrics)
3. "Part of Your World" (Sad Reprise--"I'll never be part of your world")
4. "Poor Unfortunate Souls" (Extended, "Poor child, poor fish," etc.)
5. "Silence Is Golden"
6. "Part of Your World" (Ending Reprise)

Of course! Can't believe I didn't think of that. Still great news that they are finally including it.

Oh my gosh, I must admit I have no clue of the 'Sad Reprise' of POYW !! Is there anywhere I can hear it ?
And for sure, the Jodi version of the Ending should have been included, no question. I wonder if someone can rip the audio from the special feature ?

I thought it was a bonus feature on the Platinum Edition release? It's only a demo of Alan Menken singing it though; I haven't heard a Jodi Benson version, although it may exist. I found the rest of the lyrics through Google:
What would I give to live where you are?
What would I pay to stay here beside you?
What would I do to see you smiling at me?
Now there's a dream
Now there's a goal
Now there's a need I'll never control
I won't get free
Till I can be
Part of your world
What would I give if I could live outta these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day holding your hand?
I'd give my life
I'd sell my soul
'Cause I can feel I'll never be whole
But I can see
I'll never be
Part of your world
Overall, I'm very glad it turned out the way it is in the film, but I'd like to have the above on the set.

I think I forgot, there are two deleted versions of "Fathoms Below"--the one that talks about Ursula and the other that talks about how King Triton's anger controls the ocean.

Really hope that Poor Unfortunate Souls Reprise is Vanessa singing in the mirror and not just this reprise cut from the musical:

Sort of hard to imagine evangelical Jodi Benson singing about selling her soul to get something she wants but who knows the recording could be out there!

Since Disc 1 is made up of material that made it into the final cut of the film, I sort of wonder if they mislabelled
the vocal for the Poor Unfortunate Souls Reprise. Maybe they were supposed to have credited Jodi Benson because it sequentially lines up with Vanessa's song where she sings to herself in the mirror.
Just a thought!
I'm really excited to hear some of the final cuts of score that wasn't on the original soundtracks! This score won an academy award, it has a lot going for it

In addition, can't wait to hear more of Alan Menken's piano demos.

The singing in the beginning of this 1989 trailer is the chanting I was referring to. I might be Jodie Bensons singing from the ending of "Poor Unfortunate Souls", but her voice sounds stronger/different.

Do you guys think that Ariel's singing in Poor Unfortunate Souls will be the movie version or the soundtrack one?
She sings so more beautifully in the movie

I've finally picked up two Disney picture discs releases of "Frozen" and "Beauty and the Beast" last month and it sounds very nice. I was a Hot Topic last month and I saw that Disney is bringing back vinyl for the first time in over 25 years. The last time Disney released it on vinyl in 1988 was the soundtrack to "Oliver & Company". But now it's time for making it a comeback.
I played them on two of my vintage record players, the GE Wildcat and my Fisher BSR turntable/record changer from the 1970's and both sounded that good.

I thought Beauty and the Beast sounded great, but my copy of Frozen sounded horrible...

I really hope the next releases are Hunchback and Pocahontas.

I finally bought
Sleeping Beauty. The art is beautiful, particularly the henchman around the bonfire and the gift of song pages. I wish the back of the case was switched with the front. I'm really glad I picked this up--I love disc 2's tracks, especially. Not so much the deleted songs, although "Riddle Diddle" has always been nice, but the Overture, Woodland Symphony/Once Upon a Dream (better than in the movie, imo), and Love Theme.
Sooo looking forward to
The Little Mermaid!
