I think the scene with Mufasa is more poignant, and even somewhat morbid. You can feel death in that scene. It's scary.

Owning Disney films in glorious HD but with no bonuses, or owning them in subpar SD but with a wealth of bonuses? Which can you live without? HD or bonus features?

That's tricky. Probably SD. HD is nice, but special features are even better.

The Flying Mouse for being the more sophisticated cartoon.

Rounded, classical character design (as in Snow White) or stylised forms (as in Toot Whistle Plunk and Boom)?

Personally I love stylised animation, and I really want to buy the recently released UPA: Jolly Frolics DVD set, but it's only available from the TCM website, and they don't ship to Europe! :(
