I liked the trailer too. But one thing I have been wondering since the teaser came out is whether this movie is going to be commercially successful or not. Though it is a Pixar film, it focuses a lot on death and that's not a very pleasant subject in many cultures. And the skeleton characters can be a bit scary for little children. I wonder if some parents won't take their children to see the movie because of that.

I think the skeletons here are goofy looking enough that children won't be too scared. Most children are okay with Halloween decorations, so this should be okay.

You may be right. Anyway, the quality of a film is its biggest guarantee of success, so if the movie is good it probably won't have problems at the box office.

Instead of hostility, I actually think fans should endorse more crossovers between Pixar's Coco and the Book Of Life. I certainly think it would be interesting if Miguel was in h/c the descendant of Manolo on his maternal side since his father's side has banned music.

I don't think that is such a far fetched fear when we keep in mind a reason (voodoo) that Prince and the Frog didn't do as well. I guess we'll find out when the time comes.

As for me, the trailer has gotten me interested enough that I want to see more for now. I want it to be good and I didn't see anything there that says otherwise so far.

The Book of Life director Jorge R. Gutierrez has announced at Annecy that a sequel to his film is in development. I guess the fact that Pixar is also making a film about el Día de los Muertos is something positive for him after all. Without the popularity the Pixar film is giving the festivity, maybe he couldn't have gotten the greenlight to make a sequel.

Hmm, that's a bit of a reach considering the movie hasn't been released, the trailers haven't broken any records, and there haven't been any reports about audience anticipation for it yet.

^ Maybe, but at least it's a good moment to announce the sequel because it will probably get more attention now. If the Pixar film doesn't do well, perhaps they can just cancel it.

Are there any real differences between WDAS and Pixar anymore with all the sharing of people and technology and the same storytelling tropes and formulas? Sigh.
