At the risk of being stoned to death I actually like that this cover has been done in similar fashion to Fantasia. I actually think its been very cleverly designed with Pocahantas' iconic image crossing over between the two film titles with the additional characters surrounding her (its definitely an improvement compared to the lazy work they did on Lady and the Tramp's cover art.

I also love the image they used of her in the ball gown with John Rolf, though I agree John Smith should have had a dominant place on the cover-art. I think having an image of Pocahantas in a ball gown on the cover is a ploy to get little girls who are fans of the Princess line more interested in Pocahantas as there is a promise of a royal ball sequence which we all know is part of that whole Cinderella fantasy little girls love.

To be honest I dont mind saving money by getting the two films together. True if I had the option I'd buy the first one alone and just have the sequel on DVD but as I dont hate the second one as much as a lot of other people do I am happy to have it in High definition, especially if it is cropped for widescreen and restored to the same level as the original.

I only pray we dont loose bonus content as a result of the sequel sharing the bluray disc and also I hope we still get "If I Never Knew You" included in the original film. If it is absent I flat out wont be buying this edition.

Otherwise the cover art is getting me very excited about this release and giving me that special buzz I feel whenever I want to rush out and buy something so I think Disney marketing has done their job well this time

the OAR for this is 4:3 right?

personally, it's not that i don't like the cover, i just think it's a bit of a mess. her father should have gone to the back, Percy and Meeko should've been smaller. i'd like it more minimal.. anyway.

now that i think of it, i don't think there is a greek dub for the extended version of the movie. I guess we'll get the old version which is fine with me. if they inlcude the new one, i hope they do it via seamless branching and not force everyone who doesn't like the song to watch it.

Horrible cover! Implying that Pocahontas II is the equal to Pocahontas? Scandalous!

Where is John Smith? And why is Pocahontas featured twice on the cover?

They better be releasing Pocahontas as a seperate release as well. In Norway we got Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 in a collection and seperate, so I hope this will be the case this time as well. Besides, Fantasia 2000 was made by Walt Disney Animation Studios so I don't mind them being released together.

Someone should send a letter to the people in charge at Walt Disney Home Entertainment, or whatever the division is called, and tell them how stupid they have been acting about many of their DVD and Blu-ray releases.

To me, I would think it would make more sense to release them individually from a business perspective anyways.. :shrugs:
That cover is horrendous. That sequel is horrendous. They best not be packaging all these sequels together ala FATH. -__-

Ok, I just need to go to bed. This cover art has just made my day completely horrible. We all KNOW that the US will get this too. The US gets the shaft almost all the time. It is beyond me why Disney can't just release the sequels separate from their originals ala Bambi II and BatB:EC. This is just the worst news I expected to hear about this release. This being one of my favorites I'm actually a bit heartbroken.

my one concern is the inevitable ritual sacrifice of bonuses. the cover's actually pretty good, given that she's on-model(straight from my copy of the sheet music book) and so long as we're charged for one movie, i'm fine with the sequel.

^THIS is my biggest concern. Yes Blu-rays have a lot of space, but putting 2 films on 1 disc is going to take up the whole disc. If this is like the Fox and the Hound, then I have a problem (2 movies on one Blu-ray), but if Pocahontas gets 1 disc, and the sequel gets another, and it's priced similar to a standard Disney Blu-ray ($29.99 regular, ~$19.99-$22.99 sale price), then I have no problem.

I think I'm reading this website correctly: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/dvdrevie ... lu-ray.htm which says the size of the feature film Pinocchio is 23.8 gb, and Blu-rays hold up to 50gb. So 2 moves on one disc would take up most, if not all of the disc.

I feel like Disney is tacking on the sequels in lieu of putting special feautures. I'll admit I don't watch the bonus features more than once usually, however, that is more times than I will watch the sequel.

I think it's pretty obvious by now that Disney has no intentions on adding many special features on any more releases. Even the Diamonds who mostly exist to not only put on spotlight on the most universally beloved classics, but to offer special features for fans has fallen into comparably empty discs when you consider what we got with the Platinums.

Part of this, which is my theory, is to push us into using digital media. They want us to download the extra content and so on from online sources. Isn't that what BDLive is all about? I don't use it so i'm not sure.

There is just so many layers of dissapointment that I'm feeling towards Disnet and their home video releases as of late. I'm very glad that I own them all on DVD now because other than the superior picture and sound, I'm sure that my blu collection will never stand up to my DVD collection.

I believe the reason we're not getting great(er) extras is because the Platinums had amazing extras in the first place. We had audio commentaries, making of videos etc etc. they can't really reproduce everything, it's pointless. that's why the new releases seem so lackluster.

And I don't agree that all movies don't get extras. Alice did get some great ones, Dumbo as well.

Brazil will get Pocahontas both as a stand-alone release and as a '2 Movie Colection' bundle on Blu-ray.

Ok, so if Australia and Brazil are getting that cover art it appears that we're all going to get that too. I just hope the US gets a stand alone option as well.

So, the Gold Collection cover is real for the stand alone movie?
