Because I'm a socialist? :D

Disney Duster wrote:Tangled doesn’t have the same kind of humor of past Disney. It is much faster, cynical, and cutting today. You said you wanted examples, so one example is when Flynn says ‘Here’s your frog” and he gives Pascal to Rapunzel in a much faster, more cutting, cynical way than Disney did it in the past. Another instance is Maximus’ moving his head so fast as he looks in directions for Flynn. The animation of past Disney would have made these moments a little smoother, flowier, and gentler, and Flynn’s line would have probably been slightly gentler, if they were really thinking hard about the Disney essence, or, of you would prefer, “how to keep a movie very Disney”.
You don't really KNOW what 'cynicism' IS, do you?

Oh, by the way, kudos to Big One for his patience and calmness. I know I would've jumped off a cliff only halfway through Duster's reply.

Wikipedia is hardly a reliable source. That was probably edited in by some random person who jumped to some random conclusion.

Consider the source and move on.

If you go the the first page of this thread you'll see this post:

So, if anyone had any doubts on whether Rapunzel will be joining the official Disney Princess line, the answer comes from the 2010 Year in Review of The Walt Disney Company:
To celebrate the release of The Princess and the Frog on DVD and Blu-ray, Princess Tiana was officially welcomed into the Disney Princess court with a coronation ceremony. […] With books sold in more than 90 countries around the world, the franchise is poised to continue to grow in 2011 when it welcomes to the family Rapunzel, heroine of Walt Disney Pictures’ Tangled.

Yea, it wouldn't make sense, removing Rapunzie from the line-up. After all, SHE is a princess in a fairytale movie.

Um...?

And I guess it's supposed to be an insult that I'm the girl on the list.

But something actually about Tangled, one thing I agree with DDuster on is the Gothel-Rapunzel thing. Rapunzel is never depicted as happy with Gothel, and is even ready to abandon her in "MKB (Reprise)" before she even knows that she's not her mother. And anyone who actually saw "MKB" would know why--she's a complete b* to Rapunzel (calling her fat, guilting her, making her feel like she's a drama queen, telling her to shut up and do what I say). No, there's nothing warm or normal about that relationship. Even the little moments feel insincere, such as when Rapunzel is forced to sing while Gothel brushes her hair, because it's ultimately all about Gothel. And though Rapunzel doesn't know that, she doesn't find it genuine either, when she runs through the song at the beginning to get it over with. It's something that Gothel requires, not something Rapunzel actually feels.

About the article that Sotiris posted a page or so ago--it's sad that nothing for Menken is in the works (Disney, I mean, since he has some shows going to Broadway). I was hoping TSQ would become a reality after the success of Tangled. :( It'll probably be a while before they come back to it, then.

Speaking of princesses, if Rapunzel is a princess AND included in the princess line, why aren't Eilonwy, Pocahontas (this one I could be mistaken about) or Kida included in the line? I mean, sure. The Black Cauldron and Atlantis did not make back their budgets initially (while Pocahontas isn't as popular as the other "princess" movies), but neither did The Princess and the Frog, really. Yet Tiana is included in the princess line.

Don't get me wrong. I really liked TPatF and respect Tiana for being the first African American Disney princess, but I really kind of think it's unfair that neither Eilonwy, Pocahontas or Kida are included, seeing that Eilonwy IS a princess, and technically, so are Poca and Kida.
