Digipaks and snappers
Oh cool.

I always just call the snappers "clipcases"

Clipcase sounds like a better word now that I think about it. Snappers make me think of something about to bite your hand off, lol.

I arrange my collection by editions, first the Platinum Editions, then the Special Editions and finally the standard DVD's

Organization Of Your Disney DVDs

Hello all,

First time poster, enjoyed reading so thought I'd start posting.

Anywho,

I have seen everyone's photos of their Disney DVD collections, very nice by the way.

Arriving at my question; Do you have any particular way of organizing your Dinsey DVDs, ie, favorite to least favorite, release date, aphabetical. Everyone is so proud of their collection, and rightfully so, so I imagine that everyone has some quirk.

I like to organize them by their animation date / classic number, with the exception of sequels which go right after their animated classic. :) On the other shelve the Pixar DVDs are in their release date order.

Welcome to the forum, Extremer3! Before I go on, I should add the obligatory nod to the Image Search function at the top of this page. We've had several threads on this topic, although I can't find them at the moment. :P

Personally, I store my box sets on the top shelf of a bookcase, and then have three shelves for Disney stuff.

#1: Animated Classics (Arranged Alphabetically)
#2: PIxar, DTVs & Sequels
#3: Treasures, Live Action and Other

However, most are overflowing at the moment.

I arrange all of the classics in chronological order, and the rest are in alphabetical order in 3 categories: live-action, Pixar, and other animated movies. But I only have one more slot open on my dvd shelving unit...

I really need to get mine in order. Right now I have them all on the same shelf (although I can't fit one more....sigh). I have all the ones with slipcovers next to each other, the platinums first. Then I have other sections with live-action and sequels and other.

I have a wierd order, on the top of my bookshelve where my VHS's mostly Disney or properties owned by Buena Vista *hint*, My PR collection is starting with the Ultimate Rangers DVD to PRSPD Volume 5 Zapped all in Release Order, then next is Ducktales and Chip N Dale, along with the Pixar Films, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin.

I found one and merged with it. There are several pages of replies, so they should certainly be of interest to Extremer3 in coming up with a shelf arrangement.

P.S. How nice and newbie-friendly moderatorial of you, Loomis! :star:

Mine are organized in alphabetical order. I'm really to lazy to put them in any other way. Right now they are piled up on the floor until I get a book shelf big enough for all my DVD's. Oh and my Treasures are in a random order next to my children's movies.

"Classics" in chronological order, then cartoon Treasures by character/chronological - and the rest in an "others" section.

With 8 pages, I can never remember if I replied or not, but anyway, here's how I order them:

Walt Disney Treasures - Wave order
Classic Cartoon Favorites - Numbered order
Animated Classics - Chrono order
Pixar - Chrono Order
Other Animated Filims - Chrono order
DTV Sequels - Chrono Order of DAC (example: Bambi II goes before LATT II)
Live-Action - Chrono Order

The Disney Classics on the first shelf.
The Disney Treasures along with every movie that includes Mickey, Donald and the whole gang on the second shelf.
The Disney Sequels on the third shelf.

I could put my Disney Live Action movies on the fourth, but I don't own ANY live action Disney movie- except the Pirates of the Carribean- because most of them just STINK STINK STINK! So on my fourth shelf I've got my live action movies that, except one, are not Disney.

And finally, on the fifth shelf you could find my non-Disney but fine-quality Animated Classics -because films like "Anastasia" and "An American Tail" are nothing less than classics.

That's all folks!

I'm not sure if I have replied or not, but I have probably changed my collection around anyways.

Here's how mine goes:

Shelf 1 (Very Top): Television Shows (Warner Brothers, Disney)
Shelf 2: Television Shows (Sony, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, BVHE, MGM, Universal)
Shelf 3: Television Shows (Murder, She Wrote and Leave It to Beaver)
Shelf 4: I just leave this shelf blank so I can put the case there and take the discs out.
Shelf 5: Movies, Various DVD DVDS, Walt Disney Treasures
Shelf 6: Blank
Shelf 7: Disney Live Action Movies

Mine is a lot like everyone elses...my DVD cases are organized in chronological order of the movie's theatrical release (not DVD release, which is harder to remember).

But I like to keep my collection mobile, so all the discs are in my big DVD/CD binder, making carrying my collection to and from school or on road trips or to friends' houses for movie nights easy. Because I'm anal about ordering, organizing gets a little confusing...

1) Since I don't have Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 1, I bought Vintage Mickey and have that paired with Mickey*Donald*Goofy The Three Musketeers since those were Mickey's first and latest work.
2) Next comes my treasures in chronological order unless they had multiple volumes.
3) My animated classics are next, but since the binder has 4 to a side (8 for both sides of page), I put my 2 disc DVDs first in theatrical release order. Otherwise it'd look terrible with single discs interrupting the pattern of 2 discs.
4) The single disc animated classics follow in theatrical release order. There's two empty spots left over and a new section is on a new page.
5) Pixar movies in theatrical release order except I put Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on the same page.
6) Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers Vol 1 (3-discs) is next as filler and the House of Mouse soundtrack/April Fool's Day joke DVD is used as filler for that page. Also it's a nice segue into the next section.
7) My DisneyTV Animation discs are next. First come the Mickey Mouse "movies" like the House of Mouse movies and Twice Upon a Christmas. I put BatB Enchanted Christmas on this page b/c it was a holiday film like the aforementioned Mickey Mouse "features."
8 ) The next section goes to my Disney sequels in the theatrical order of the movie they are sequels to. (E.g. Bambi II, Cinderella II, Return to Neverland, Little Mermaid II...)
9) Non-Disney animated features and compilations follow.
10) Television shows
11) Live-Action Disney
12) Live-Action not Disney
13) WDW Vacation planning DVD

wow, that was longer explanation that it had to be :P

My "Disney and other" animated movies are arranged in alphabetical order then after them I did the same with my "Disney and other" live-action movies. The shelf above them has all my Anime. The Studio Ghibli movies are in chronological order by theater release (Nausicaa to Howl).
