After this movie premieres, people will gain a new-found appreciation for the Eddie Murphy version.
Since people online are saying this looks better than the Eddie Murphy version, combine that with Skyler Shuler saying the test screenings went well, I don't think so.

A second poster was also released along with the trailer:

I personally liked both posters as well as the trailer. The movie looks fun to me, and what a cast! I don't know anything about the attraction, though, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have seen Eddie Murphy's film, but I don't remember it too much. I didn't recognize Jamie Lee Curtis at first. And Jared Leto is the ghost, right? I guess it's a CGI character and he only provides the voice. I'm not sure if I'll see it in theaters, though. I'll wait to see what the reviews are.

I always loved the Eddie Murphy version, but this looks super fun too! The cast make this a must see in the cinema for me. I like the poster as well.

New trailer:
https://youtu.be/AjLKTz81bj8
I really don’t have a read on this movie yet but that trailer is chock full of references to the ride. I love the big chair Tiffany Haddish is trapped in at one point, it reminds me of the classic Doombuggy ride vehicle and the Omnimover system. Might be a fun watch this summer!
I’m also really curious to find out what goes on with Madame Leota’s character. Apparently she will appear both as a spirit in a crystal ball as well as a corporeal entity.
I guess this movie is the real reason the Hatbox Ghost animatronic is finally coming to WDW. It appears the character is the main antagonist in the movie.

This trailer still had some humor in it, but it felt like the laughs were less center stage here. I suppose it bodes well that the film won't just be carried by the humor. But I'm still struggling to get a read on this film.

A new
poster has been released as well. It seems like this movie is in search of an identity. What is it trying to be? Is it supposed to be a comedy? A mystery? A thriller? An action/adventure? Whatever it is, it just feels 'meh'.

Maybe it's just trying to be what a Haunted Mansion movie can be.

Am I the only one here who thinks this looks good??
Like the right combination of scary and funny... with some real nods to the ride.

I don’t think it looks bad. I just don’t know what to make of it yet. Good or bad, the references to the ride will be fun to look out for.

It looks good to me too. Personally, I don't have a problem with the mix of comedic and scary elements. Since it's a family film, I think it needs some comedy to balance out the horror, so little kids aren't too scared by it.

The movie looks too CGI'd to be truly "scary" in my book.
I'm loving that they're committed to drawing upon the lore and iconography of the ride, but all the easter eggs in the world won't carry the film if the story is flimsy, and that's what I still need to be sold on.
I really am up for Disney adapting more of their rides into films, but it's a practice that's yielded so few rewards.

I don’t know. I think the CGI looks very strong, even on Hat Box Ghost in his form where his head is on his body, but I think it is due to the VFX being done by Industrial Light and Magic.

Oh, the effects look good and stuff, it's just the presence of the CGI itself that's distracting to me, if that makes sense. It just puts me in a mindset to watch something more action-adventurey than scary.
For reference, I run into the same issue with the IT movies, which I do really like. Things like Pennywise CGI ballooning in size just feels out of place in this genre.
